It should be one sided. After all, magic comes from the channeler, he dosen't get a lot of magic out of having a gaint empire. However, magic should be able to tweak the mundane enconemy big time. Control of weather to insure perfect growing seasons, clearing off storms from trade routes, finding exact location of ore deposits. Numerous ways magic can control the mundane. Seems like a one-way street to me.
I still live with my parents and am doing the college thing, but they don't go anywhere near my computer. They used to check stuff long ago, but i left a few less than pleasent pictures laying around in obvious places. They decided it wasn't worth it. And ya, i know, the ESRB must be submited too. Ya, that is what i meant about the questing to get them and such. Gives you time to get aquainted. The only time one would just pop in and marry you would be if it was war and you just finished razing and murdering an entire race of peace loving hippie people who don't even understand the concept of fighting, much less war or killing. I like this idea. Since my empire of nightmares and horror would be immune. Failing to reach your quota of fish mined per day would lead to being added to the que for execution and transformation into a zombie for my ever increasing armys of the dead. A bunch of bandits who can't even reach an acceptable FM/D won't even faze the gears of my empire of pure evil. I think that we can give him the benifit of the doubt and assume that he has actually played the game. No point in complaining about a game he hasn't even played. And i think we have pointed out enough times that the ability of swordsman to beat tanks received rage from the players and was serverly decreased to the point of being gone in civ4. The esrb can go die in a hole. Was talking about marrying odd things like spirits and such in another thread and had enough thoughts on the issue to give it its own thread. The channelers are way up at the top of the totem poll in this universe, why are they marrying these mortal peasent women. Even spirits are not much better. A decent channeler can call up a dozen spirits before lunch to do his bidding. Why not marry in your own class? Why not try for something above his class. Enter avatars of ideas/concepts.</p
Or more exotic ways of choosing. Send all your kids out into the wide world and whoever manages to overthrow the biggest enemy nation gets to be heir. Or set them all up in numbered order, the one who is at slow 1 gets to be heir and the only way to rise in rank is to kill those above you via assasinations or duels. TBH, i really love the idea of creating a single zombie in the horror movie style where one bite infects you. Casting a super massive spell to create a single zombie, then watching the infection spread widly until an entire continent is consumed. All my other SMD ideas are just hanger-ons to that one. If your NPC wizards were going down faster than other villans then your DM was running them wrong. Unless we are talking low level, then of course wizards die easy.
