Mars; it isn't even in the same ballpark as Venus. Mars has water (albiet frozen), arable soil capable of growing crops, non-crushing pressure, and you won't spontaneously combust upon getting near the surface. Pressure is fairly low, at an avg of about 1% of earth at ground level, but as long as you had a heated wetsuit and oxygen, you could probably survive.

Another lost sale. I was thinking about buying Silent Hunter 5... But after hearing about this new DRM, now I won't be.

I paid $7.50 for it last year (75% off sale on steam). Best bang for my buck in memory. It may not be everyone's cup o tea, but I personally found the combat to be highly enjoyable, especially when the somewhat repetetive music is replaced with a podcast or pandora. It has probably the only skill-based medieval combat system which actually works well. I've managed to get several hundred hours of gameplay out of it. The graphics aren't great, although they are improving a bit in the an

The main problem is they gambled the entire game upon the (naive) hope that everyone who bought it would do the pay-per-month and then continue to play the game for multiple hours a day pretty much until the end of time. Without the multiplayer aspect, it almost seems pointless. Building a specialized city makes sense for a multiplayer game, but in solo mode it is just an extremely frustrating limitation. Then there were the launch issues. Dunno if it has changed since (haven't played

I picked up ME2 about a week ago, currently on my second playthrough. Without specifically hunting down sidequests, you can expect to thoroughly complete the first run through in ~20 hours or so. Unlike Dragon Age: Origins though, I seem to be finding quite a bit of replayability due to the game's combat mechanics which are more FPS-like than standard RPG. And there is the fact that most dialog can be skipped by hitting the space bar. On successive playthroughs, you are able to start

My reasoning for going very heavily into programming is almost entirely because game design is so crowded. Or in my words... Anyone can pull creative ideas out their @$$, but not many are willing to learn the code needed to make it work. Game design has got high competition, because, as you said, it is easy compared to most jobs. If you really want to make money, you have to figure out what you are really good at, and specialize in that. If you are just pure game design, yo

[quote who="RisingLegend" reply="18" id="2526459"] I really like the idea here, because naturally (though not guaranteed) people will be attracted to people of their own kind. We've never had any real world experience. But I would think the whole "falling in love with aliens" theme you see in movies wouldn't be the case in real life... and I don't know if the equations are right, but they sure do look good to me! Wow. I just watched episode 9. That was absolutely the single worst episode of any stargate series EVER. First of all, they ended the previous episode with a cliffhanger. They never actually showed them capturing the little buggers and making the cure. Its as if they decided between last week and this week that they didn't like that storyline and decided to completely redo it, but forgot to actually come up with a new story. Which brings me to my second point... They did NOTHING. Noth

"With two failed time lines it looks like it could simply loop forever, unless in one they could manage to come up with a way of getting a creature back to Destiny without everyone dying first." lol, that just gave me the most awesome story line every for the series: Season 1: or, How We got a Disease and got stuck in a Time Loop. Season 2: or, Capturing a Creature. Season 3: or, How We got out of the Time loop. And of course since they are in a t

The planets still have large swaths of land in which the energy is free, and th

Ya, firefly comes to mind as a good show which was cancled way before it should have been... Then they even killed off half the crew in the movie, making any further attempts at making the show again impossible.

Here's how it works: You see, after the cataclysmic event that destroyed the world, the fertility and growth rates of plants were severely limited. Hence the massive desolation seen in the wild areas of the world. However, due to the law of conservation of magical momentum, the growth and fertility rates can not overall be increased or decreased. So, this excess fertility and growth had to go somewhere. Thus, it went into the people of the wilderness. They are now plagued with long life, extr

I would bet no more than 3 seasons before Destiny goes back to Earth to replenish their dwindling red shirt supply. After all, the ship knows how to give them air, power, and in the coming episodes probably water and food too, so why not redshirts as well?

437 Replies 1,028,444 Views

I have to say, they really have managed to take the visuals up a notch, even without the huge ship battles (so far). The visuals when the ship entered the star were amazing. I would agree with previous posts that the ship really is the main character of the series so far. Rush is pretty awesome too, but other than him the rest of the crew are, for the most part, generally "meh." The gamer geek is there for a reason though, he is the comic relief of the series, much like Rodney in Atla
