IIRC, neanderthals are actually not another species, but rather a sub-species of human. So technically, they are still human. We just call them neanderthals because we like to think of ourselves as special. Cloning humans is neither good nor bad; it just introduces a lot of moral ambiguity. As for pathogens, that isn't an issue. Not for us at least. When you clone something based on DNA, it contains only the DNA of that organism, and does not come with bacteria/viruses/other n

Reply to The Music in War of Magic

Ya, anyone know if they plan on expanding the music beyond the current 5 minute loop in the beta? I love the theme song as much as the next guy, but I really don't look forward to listening to it for a full 30 hour game, let alone games 2, 3, or 4.
General AI question : Will there be any option for *really fast* AI vs AI matches? By fast I mean without spending time on visuals/animations/artificial delays. I guess the cloth map could enable a fast game, but then again on the cloth map you don't have tactical battles. Or I'm just missing something & I'm talking garbage.
So in other words, you want the AI to play at the speed of the War Games AI playing

They generally open it up to everyone who pre-ordered between beta numbers. Which means you will probably get in when Beta 2 starts in a couple weeks.

Its a sci-fi baddy which is merely the result of a combination of the sci-fi tropes of a hive-mind and giant bugs, it was around way before Cameron crawled out of his cradle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_mind_(science_fiction)

Probably not. Hive mind species are one of the genre cliches of sci-fi, and have been probably since even before sci-fi movies were being made. Orcs are actually not in all fantasy games, usually there are goblins, but orcs aren't as common. Elves and dwarves have roots in European mythology, which is what most fantasy settings are based on. And demons/evil spirits are found in most religions worldwide. Edit: and looking up group mind on wikipedia shows the oldest mention
Quoting Tasunke, reply 25 Or maybe, they will combine WOW with the Warcraft RTS ... and have WOW players able to invade RTS games at any time (other than campaign) as individual units. And then, if your character dies in the RTS world, its permanently trapped until the RTS player says different. Usually this will require allowing the RTS player to use your character as a unit in his game. Then
I think they should have hid the statistics until close though. It affects behaviour seeing the averages like that, shaming people into paying a more reasonable amount Isn't that exactly why they shouldn't have hidden then? Afterall the aim was to get as much money from people as possible, not to just give the bundle away.
Reminds me of a study I read about in Scientific American. They found that p

For some reason i do like FPS multiplayer games (Well, console ones, Halos mainly, BFBC2) despite them being repetive too. I hate the practice league (after the profile wipes, i'm playing them again. Don't want to skip them since they're on normal speed and Fastest is way too fast for me) since

Judging from the number of CTDs I've experienced lately, I would guess it will probably be around 2 or 3 weeks until Beta 2 starts, if not sooner depending on how 1Z4 turns out. So if you pre-order now, I would be suprised if you didn't get in before June.

Na, I've listened to enough WoW podcasts to know that blizz support is quite good about these things; one of the best in the business in fact. I should get it back well before the middle of the week when I finally have time to play again. They have 12 hour a day, 7 days a week support, with a help section online dedicated to what to do when your account gets haxx0rd. And since the accounts use your email address as the log in info, it isn't too terribly difficult for them to set things straig

I was wondering, is there a way to give armor and/or weapons to one's sovereign during the course of a game directly from the cities themselves? I know you can give them armor found from goodie huts and such, but can you, say, forge platemail at your town, then give it to your sovereign?

As has been previously stated, the only limiting factor to map size will be your computer's RAM. And since there will be a 64 bit native version, assuming you maxxed out a 64 bit machine with RAM (impossible w/o 2150 technology), you would more or less be able to make 1 tile equal 1 square inch and cover the Earth with it.

I find something which is effective against overwhelming AI attacks and/or counterattacks is to implement Russian style scorched earth policy. Destroy any useful buildings one turn before the AI takes the city, but leaving those buildings which will drain the coffers of whoever owns it. Then when the conquer it, it hurts them more than it hurts me.

Is there a breakdown for different tiers, i.e. platinum, gold, silver, newb, etc? Because of blizzard's continual buffing of terran and nerfing of p

As far as I'm aware, there is no valid reason why they would end on different days. My guess is its just the general time frames they pulled out of their excretory systems. Kinda like they do with release dates on games with a TBA release date. However, that they are both in May leads me to believe we may see a June release of the game. :) As for me, I pre-ordered through Amazon last autumn, got my beta key a few days ago (21st i think).

Ya, the game is quite stylized as far as graphics; the ANSI intro is somewhat fitting. It hearkens back to the good ol' days when games were about more than just shiny particle effects. At the very least, it should be the end of the intro (after the actual intro video while waiting for the player to click to continue). As for a video... Start with a view of a sovereign in the wasteland. Sovereign then casts a massive spell, healing the lands around him. Skip forward in ti
