There's another part of it, too...you will also get a code that can be redeemed to get the rest of the Penumbra Collection for $5.

I sent them a few bucks even though I already bought World of Goo the last time around. I heard Gish was really good and Penumbra looks like something my Silent Hill-obsessed brother would really enjoy.

Looking at their statistics on the offer page, I see they've managed to raise $573,651 so far. If all buyers choose the "Split Evenly" option, that works out to a little under $82,000 per party. That seems like a pretty good haul, considering they're all 3-year-old indie games. I also notice that Mac and Linux appear to account for about 25% of buyers each, though it's possible to select more than one OS when downloading. Average contributions are nearly twice as high for Linux users compared to Windows users, with Mac users about halfway in between. Also, someone paid $1,000. o_O I wish I had that kind of money to throw around.

World of Goo did this before.  It's is a rather interesting social experiment as well some publicity for these indie games.  I think they should have hid the statistics until close though.  It affects behaviour seeing the averages like that, shaming people into paying a more reasonable amount.  Would be more interesting to see how many people would be jerks and pay $1 or less if they thought 'no one was looking'.

Isn't that exactly why they shouldn't have hidden then? Afterall the aim was to get as much money from people as possible, not to just give the bundle away.

Reminds me of a study I read about in Scientific American. They found that people were most likely to reuse their towels if the sign on the wall told them the previous guest in that room had done the same, rather that saying things like "it helps save costs" or "it will save the earth."

Over $1.1 million in donations so far. :O

I got the bundle a few days ago, and I must say that was probably the best 40 bucks I spent in a while. Aquaria and World of Goo are both awesome games. Lugaru was too short, but I can't really complain about it (I haven't tried the two others yet).

And best of all, I don't have to reboot to Windows to play any of them (I mainly use Linux).

Wow, I have never heard of any of these games.  I am going to check it out now.
