So... After Stardock makes Elemental, can they please acquire the rights to X-Com and make a real re-make of it? [e digicons]>_>[/e] After all, Stardock already is good at the whole turn based strategy thing. It could actually work! *pleads like a kid trying to save a pet cow from the slaughterhouse*
There is, however, one reviewer who will never overhype a game. His reviews are also quite entertaining. And yes, I am talking about Yahtzee. :D Also, it is quite fun to go to metacritic and compare the "pro" reviews with the actual consumer reviews. Case in point, lol: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/assassinscreed2 http:
Also fun for making land bridges. I can't wait to flank someone on a magic bridge of earth. And if combined with lower terrain and high mana regen, one could potentially flee with their army into the sea. Hehe... Definately going to be one of the most exciting things to come to a 4X in a long time. In fact, I have just been inspired to make an artificial continent and build apart from the AI for awhile! Although I will have to sink the area around the shards to keep the AI out of thos
"Is your sovereign bugged or are you just happy to see me?"
1. This would probably be considered a tiny map. There is barely enough room for 1 city per sovereign. 2. AI is non-existant at this point, as it consists merely of a few do x, y, z routines. 3. Good luck using that strategy when the map has even 10 times the area, let alone the epic 64 bit maps which will undoubtedly take 1000 turns just to move across. In general, just the scaling up of maps which will occur in solo and multiplayer will remove this problem. In t
A number of people have expressed some questions about what we're looking for in feedback right now. For this first early beta release, our primary focus is on technical issues. That is to say: - Does it run? - Does it crash? - Does it hang? - Does it run poorly? - Does it look all messed up? - Does some basic function (ex: save/load, map generation, movement) not work right? These are the main questions we need your answers to right now.&n
Okay, now for the explaination of the bugs. In the first screenshot, there are 2 bugs. The first is the more obvious terrain issue. Before this happened, I minimized the game and brought it back up, followed by using a terraforming spell (raise land). The change seemed to be temporary and/or only
I also have experienced the problem, and iirc under similar circumstances.
Not sure I understand the OP's issue. Out of those, 6 are just balancing issues for systems which haven't even been finalized yet, and the other 2 are demi-bugs. Or in other words, none of that will be anything like the release.
All who pre-ordered should have their beta, as well as an email notifying they were charged. If it isn't showing up on Impulse, do as Beric says and go to the Impulse menu (the button to the left of "Explore" tab) and check the pre-release box.
I had an update just a minute ago... As for whether it is ready, I would agree that it is not. I got about 4 crashes in 4 hours. I hear that is a good deal better than before, but still not what I would consider stable (around the 1 crash per 10 hours is what I usually consider stable-ish). I would give it another week or two, even if it means I have to wait longer to see the shiny new graphics engine.
Yay got my beta! :D And right as I finished programming for the day, perfect timing.
Friendly community, dev team who cares, CEO who isn't Bobby "I want to take the fun out of gaming" Kotick. And since the company doesn't have shareholders, Frogboy can do whatever he pleases, which is usually* very good for us. *I would say always, but I am not fond of statements without wiggle room left for my incomplete knowledge.
You are in luck, and just in time, assuming they don't close new beta entries until the beta goes up. Beta 1Z is scheduled to go out today IIRC, so with any luck you will be getting your beta key in the next few hours. I'm not entirely sure when the cutoff date/time is though, so at worst it will be a few weeks until beta 2 is released.
I take it you aren't a programmer. A full, working version probably only gets put together and compiled once a week, if that. I think you underestimate how many things in a game obey Murphy's law. With a daily build you would be lucky to get past the loading screen w/o it crashing spectacularly. Once it is merely down to balancing unit abilities, sure, once a day wouldn't be to difficult, but when you are still digging in the code itself, not gonna happen.
Creatures inherit appearances from their parents. This includes dominant/recessive genes. As one example, you can use this system to breed your dogs to a certain color/size. Wow... the complexity and breadth of this game are astounding.
Especially considering said color can't actually be seen other than in the descriptions.
" HELLZ YA I intend to test under Beta 2." - although that isn't to say the next Dwarf Fortress version won't be eating most of my time.
In addition to there being no time limit, finances are not a problem for Stardock. You must remember they have been doing so well they essentially doubled in size recently. And even still, I get the feeling Frogboy would rather spend a few million out of his own pocket than release a game in a poor state.
Why the hell haven't the guys at Blizzard purchased their own banana republic for them to rule as supreme overlords?
Probably because Bobby Kotick already bought it and turned it into his personal home from where he dictates new methods for making game developing suck. Seriously, google "bobby kotick quotes." Just don't eat before you do, or you may have to clean the vomit off your keyboard.
I play DF, check the dev updates daily, and post somewhat regularly on the forums. It ate my entire summer break because it is simply that awesome. Currently though I haven't played it in a few months since I don't want to get too burned out right before the next amazingly epic release. Over a year and a half of Tarn Adams dev time in the update. :) As for graphics, I personally think they would detract from the overall feel of the game. The game thrives on imagination and emergent st
My only fear is the following: Magic will be extremely powerful in the late game [vanilla - can be fixed via modding of course..], and it will render the military / combat related stuff obsolete. Balancing won't be easy, but it's possible. Hopefully Stardock will be able to balance everything "perfectly". [This is why I've made a topic about protection/counter magic a while ago...-> https://forums.elementalgame.com/376559 ]
On a diffrent chain of thought, as we're playing as people who are rebuilding the world from scratch after it was destroyed, would it not make sense to allow us to name the currency whatever we so chose? I mean, if we're the ones

My world has been shaken to its core. lol
Next thing they will probably tell us is there are girls on the internets! Bah, unfathomable! On a more serious note, the posts are likely just fanboys. However, some of the issues they bring up are at least tangentially relevant to actual issues with Impulse. Impulse has less selection, especially of very
Epic win. "I wonder what the letter E would have to say about that! AAAHHH it's Hitler!!!" Best episode ever.
