And I really don't want my Soverign being on the front line.
[quote who="rossanderson48" reply="258" id="2790922"] but there is nothing "war-game" about Kings or HoMM. Well that's your opinion and not agreed upon by the majority of players. It has a very wargamey feel to it. Tactical battles and spell casting during just like a Master of Magic game. I guess you want to say it's not wargamey either? The war is taking over the world map, there are battles to do this. Just like any war there is a strategic purpose and a tactica

I realize this wouldn't be practical with their huge pbem crowd and some of the battles would be outrageously long, but
I employ many heros and make most of them mages then attach them to other unit stacks. Also you have to use a hero for the Quest and notables.

I've seen a lot of people talk about the various flaws in Elemental's design as evidence that I can't design games (ignoring the 15+ years of successful games I've designed). With an unlimited budget, unlimited time, and an infinitely capable engine, I can design a hellu

[quote who="AndonSage" reply="99" id="2783985"]It seems to me that using limits on a Pioneer to control the number of cities isn't the way to go. There should be another mechanic that keeps the number of cities in check. For example, in Civilization 3 / 4, the mechanic was corruption. The more cities, and the further away from your capitol, the more corruption ate at your gold. In Civilization 5, the mechanic is Happiness. I'm sure there are a number of mechanics that Elemental cou

[quote who="Kalin" reply="88" id="2783709"] Quoting Terraziel, reply 86 One of my initial thoughts for something to mod in was this sort of system, but I was going to go the stage further and make your cities compete with each other, so that people would migrate from the crappy outpost towards the more developed cities. so that if you just dropped cities everywhere you would just end up with a lot of ghost towns (which would obviously gain you nothing).

The city still has x amount of people, but a certain amount is "used" when a building is constructed. If there aren't anymore "tiles" then you can't build more buildings. The only difference is that the tiles here grows

During the beta, we used to allow players to build an unlimited number of buildings or 1 per level and this created a runaway economy. The imperfect solution chosen in the end was to limit many buildings to only 1 per city. This creates the issue that if you have something
