As somebody who first saw D&D as an expansion of minatures combat rules put together by a Swiss Pike formation enthusiast, my view of avertive armor is somewhat jaded, I admit. THAC0 stunk as a way of arbitrating individual combat in 1976, and it stinks today despite the modifications and changes it's added. It fails to describe fencing, archery, SCA combat, real mideval combat, and anything resembling firearms. The importance of ma

I hope this is for the 3.5 rules and not 4.0 (shivers with horror)
I love Risk always have but I got the Lord of the Rings risk a few years ago and that blew away the normal risk. Plus it can be faster depending if you play with the Fellowship or not. Very fun game. Now if only they make a computer game of that.

I would rather have residential structures be built automatically as your city grows in population, or an automatic upgrade feature where your buildings grow as needed to support population growth. (I hope the anti-automation police find this acceptable)
As long as it is optional. I like to micromanage my TBS game.

While I admired the art direction, the overall feel of the game and interesting magic system, but I deeply despised the combat feel and it's mechanics. My 0.02€ (don't hate me ). I don't know if it will replace AoW for you, but I've a strong feeling that you might like this game - even

Very few people did this, because it was kinda annoying (you say "go here and attack" and that command doesn't really change
Everyone that I know that played the Baulder Gate series set th
My worry is that when companies that are known for the traditional TBS type games start to create a hybrid it speaks to other companies completely giving up on the traditional turnbased system (especially if Elemental turns out to be a huge hit - which I believe it will). Elemental is turn based on the strategic map, as was Gal Civ. Gal Civ's battles were all auto-resolve. I don't understand how this is a dramatic departur
Quoting Bellack, reply 27 Actully it does not concern me. In fact I perfer this to happen in the game. I know its only a matter of opinion, but your saying you would prefer something like this in a fantasy setting: Over this?:
<span style="font-size: 7.5pt; color: black; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast
Whats the difference between continuous turn based and RTS? Becaouse it does sound very RTS for me and I really hate RTS games.

Well I've been looking for an updated replacment for Age of Wonders SM and so far Elemental sounds like this gould be the one. (I just hope the sea units don't just sit there like a bump on the log.) And I hope it is as moddable as AOWSM was.
Quoting MagicwillNZ, reply 29 In a way, this is how I run my D&D campaigns, which have become very popular. I set parameters instead of making up a story ahead of time that players must follow. Instead, I create a world that ascribes to certain rules, use the dice as a "random" element to determine geographical and geological ranges during the world's creation, and then cut the players loose to discover thei

I would like to see some civilitions delelope high tech/low magic while others have High Magic/low tech. I'd really rather Not see guns and tanks and planes in this game.
I have to admit this is probably the aspect of the game I am most skeptical about. I've always considered a sharp divide between fantasy and technology settings and I believe one of the hallmarks of fantasy is that it is stuck in a technological time warp (typically medieval times). Another cause for concern for me is the fact that the research mechanic tends to be one of the least interesting aspects of a strategy game, as players tend
