Ugh, not sure why it formatted over to the right side like that - not sure how it appears to everyone else, but I can't see some of the results. I will try to fix it!

OK 51 people have taken it already, as opposed to 53 total eventually took the first one. I'm calling it a solid sample. 1. How are you spending your time while waiting for E:WOM beta? answered question 48
Quoting Denryu, reply 18 I really like the idea that when a new resource is found, that some "research" has to be done to determine how to mine it. I also think it would be cool to have all resources visible from the start, but you still need to research (in the tech tree) the proper research to know how to use the material. So you might stockpile a decent bit of adamantium before you developed the technology
Damn, I forgot to post the last part. Magic. Always magic. This is Elemental: War of Magic. Spells that change normal terrain into mines of different kinds. That is one of the counters to natural end of resources. We could talk about types of spells that can create mines, which some would have an essence cost asociated,... But magic would be an alternative. I know someone could say: Why have the mines to be depl
If there are weather effects (and if there are I would prefer that it was simply raining, sunny, snowy worldwide rather than emulating weather patterns) then units travelling on dirt roads could get bogged down, while those on stone roads would not... just a thought.
I like those thoughts olp33. That is one thing that I never reconciled in Civ IV but I didn't worry too much about it because I liked it - that was that resources would suddenly appear when you researched a certain tech. I really like the idea that when a new resource is found, that some "research" has to be done to determine how to mine it. I also think it would be cool to have all resources visible from the start, but you still need to research (in the tech tree) the proper research
Note, under channeler death, you didn't include the obvious. Channeler dies.
By this do you mean you continue to play the game without a channeler....interesting thought and honestly one that had not even occurred to me or I would have included it. I have already got some great ideas for next week's survey lol. I think it will be better than this one! Btw, Survey number 1 has now had 53 respondents, I wi
I just figured this request for lists was a lot like my surveys, kind of for kicks and giggles.
Maybe to spark your memory questions were about what you are doing while waiting for beta, muliplayer modes (LAN,PBEM, hotseat,Internet), tactical combat, what happens when channeler dies, essence finite, rechargeable etc, and what dev jounral topic would you be most interested in? I tried to copy paste it here and strip out the data, but it was being a major pain.
Yep I thiknk we are in more or less agreement. I don't like recoup or recharge, but levelling and quest reward I am fine with. By the way, this topic is one of the questions on this week's Survey! (shameless plug) http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=SU4WRikn4eAGbyHYufNOpg_3d_3d
No intention of derailing, I just know some people only hang out on the Dev journals. Just want you to know there is a 2nd survey available on Surveymonkey for any that are interested. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=SU4WRikn4eAGbyHYufNOpg_3d_3d
I don't get what is less anti climactic about sitting around and waiting ages for essence to recharge as opposed to just dealing with being out. Being out off essence does not make a channeler a non factor in the game. That said, as I have posted above, I am not against there being some limited ways to get more.
I feel like I did a bit better on this survey, hope you all agree and enjoy it! I will probably wait a bit longer to post results, so as not to "foul the waters" with other opinions. Please keep it bumped! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=SU4WRikn4eAGbyHYufNOpg_3d_3d
Death - I have a feeling that a lot of people after playing a ten hour+ game would lose it if they died casting a low probablity (but possible) death causing spell. Maybe essence burn out would be better (think of being stilled in the Wheel of Time) In fact, just as in the Wheel of Time, maybe there could be a way of being unstilled, with vastly diminished capability.
Easily remedied. At a "high level" (I have no idea they could scale it so that 10 was high or 100) but at that point, stop the "curve" and have it a fixed amount and a fixed amount of essence. Then you just make the variable that holds "level" something insane like 32,648, and if they ever rolled it over just grant them infinite essence and grant them the title God of the World.
Hmm landi it really could be read either way - the 24 could be included in the 100 number or could be in addition to the 100. I hope you are right, the more the merrier and the better my chances!
Quoting Darkodinplus, reply 19 ... I agree essence should be based on a stat but I lack sufficient information to decided wether it should affect total mana comparable to intelligence or wisdom in most games. I could see the essence stat having some sort of passive bonus on mana spells where it increases their damage or duration though. It's the word "channeler" itself that's driving my specula
@ Wintersong - lol yeah, I know you are a guy IRL, I am happily married, 45 years old, and avatar boobies is the only vice I allow myself... [e digicons]^_^[/e] (Yeah RIGHT!)
The biggest problem I have with solution 1 is what the computer decides are "similar conditions". At best, I think if you choose autoresolve, then it looks at your win/loss record and gives you a SLIGHT edge (or disadvantage) based on your win/loss. All this traccking of previous fights, determining what is a roughly equivalent fight, seems like a lot of overhead. To me autoresolve is you are turning your fate over to the AI and are relying on a superior force for victory. I like opti

I had trouble with some of the names, trying to decide who to put in it and who should stay out even when they deserved to be in (24 people limit...). My reasons has been mine and, as human, they might be wrong but I just didn't have the time to read the whole forum to refresh my memory. @ GW - I am in it strictly for the peanut gallery value, if it is useful to SD, so much the better! @ Sammual - I totally agree - looking back over the last survey I thought it was pretty good, but there were a few questions I fetl were worded badly or were not clear. I was kind of doing it on a whim anyway, if I continued doing them I would put more thought and care into the wording. I think I will probably at least do one tomorrow, see if the response is on par with last wee
Hey everyone. We had about 45 people respond to my last survey, I enjoyed doing it. How does everyone feel about doing a weekly survey each Friday on whatever the "Hot Topics" of the week are? Whether or not SD chooses to use the information from the surveys, I personally would get a kick out of it, it's something to do while we wait for beta if nothing else - what do you guys think? Sorry for the weird font, I am not sure what I did to make it
I had a very interesting discussion yesterday at work about how the developers I work with rate thier own abilities vs how others rate them and this struck me as a good way to get a bit more data without pissing off my co-workers. *grin* I have been re-reading a lot of the threads that I thought contained a lot of good discusions and came up with a list of about 20 people that I believe contributed to the Elemental discussions often and i
