Nice! Multiplayer game modes that could be completed in short periods of time would be a really cool feature! And not to be a pain, but could you shed a little light on whether LAN/Hotseat/PBEM multiplayer will be available? You made a lot of people concerned in your getting back to Elemental post.
I didn't dare ask after i got reamed in the thread that I started asking the same thing...[e digicons]:X[/e]

Woot! sounds great!
Yeah, I think that there are fewer individual people on the other side, but they are a lot more vocal. I think I saw a post by Brad that mentioned not getting essence back easily, but I can't produce it for scrutiny. It sure seems like it will be finite, but maybe that's just bad phrasing.
Guilty. [e digicons]:P[/e]
And I half agree/half disagree with you both. The thread title is essence should be essential. Hear, hear! being able to gain essence, I feel trivializes it. If it is a limited, finite resource that is what makes it precious. being able to recoup essence from your lands that are conquered, dead heroes (or living ones) trivializes it. Imbuing essence should be an irrevocable decision, and any ability to even regain a portion of it, in my opinion, jsut trvializes the dec
I think finite essence locks you in thematically to a sort of traditional end of the age of myth story: gods and titans battle it out, but gradually fade away and are superceded by their creations and the rise of civilization and all that. This could be good I guess, I'm slightly tired of replaying that particular scenario though. Oh? The elves are part of a once great but now declining civilization you say? Never heard that one before.
Well, damn, I go out of my way to take the suck-up, kiss-ass approach and it seems like I am being labeled some kind of troll-fan who is being demanding and just all around ungrateful. [e digicons];P[/e]
I love the idea. Although all the armies are going to be predominantly humans or fallen, I think this type of customization for the channeler himself would be awesome! [e digicons][/e]
@ Sammual, I am not sure that what you are proposing eliminates mop-up or prolongs the agony. I think there are already a lot of ideas on the table that SD has discussed to get rid of the 25% playing and 75% mop-up model. The fact that a very small army may be made up of extremely powerful creatures, and this small army may have been being held in reserve. Various other things have been mentioned. What I don't like about it is it makes strategics losses and victories less meanin
You obviously need to learn the difference between a demand and a request. And as I stated in my OP, I am very appreciative of how forthcoming they have been with information so far. The points I raise are not even all things that I personally care about all that much - they seem to be things that some are (likely needlessly) fretting over that a little clarification could ease those concerns.
I am very attracted to being able to take the role of "the spider" aka Moghedien in the Wheel of Time series. This would be essentially "the hoarder" spoken of in previous posts. How cool to spend a small amount of essence to besically remain hidden, be a hermit, not go the "heal the land and be loved by the people" but rather go hermit, live in a cave, maybe make friends with a dragon or build an army of stone golems or maybe just research by your lonesome - waiting for the proper moment to
Hey Dev people whom we love! [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] There are some things that I think the community would love some clarification on as there is much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth at the moment. A lot of it may simply be misunderstanding of previous Dev posts. Multiplayer: Are there currently plans for PBEM? Hotseat? LAN? Any details about the Magic system of course many are ravenous for! Any direction that you are leaning on the economic mo
@ GW I like the idea of everyone having an exactly set finite amount of a primary resource. Mana fills the role of a renewable source of energy. However, if you really think having ways to get essence during the game is a fun option, it seems like that could be easy to add as an option at setup. (Allow essence as quest reward/some other way). It is weird that I see some people wanting essence recouped after someone takes over your land though - what is the point to taking land if it then requ
It has been a dozen years since a game really grabbed me and had me playing 40+ hours a week for months at a time. The game that even years after release you still boot up because it is so awesome and partly even for nostalgia reasons. This could be the game to end the drought!
Quoting Scoutdog, reply 10 I don't like the idea of a finite "essence tank" that never comes back. The problem I see is that hoarding your essence is not particularly fun. You don't get to see the settlements, cast the spells, fight the battles, etc. But you pretty much have to do it, because hoarding confwers a massive advantage late in the game. Thus, in order to win, you have to take a strategy that makes 75%
My view on essence is completely different. There should be no ways to gain essence. There should be no way to recover essence. Certainly if you imbue land with essence and then lose that land to an enemy there should be no "Here is your essence back". My opinion. I do agree with bullet points 3,4 and 5. I agree with the first part of point 1, but again on the "hope to recover essence" aspect, I believe there shouldn't be any. To Pigeonpigeon, regarding your last paragraph: I
Wow, I had a nice huge post and the forum ate it. In short, no prob with your post GW, it was a polite expression of opinion and I didn't take it as an attack. I just wanted to counter with my thoughts, so I did.
Well I agree the feature portioin is probably more accurate, however, I would disagree with you on a couple of points regarding the camps. 1. When people read the Dev journals, they tend to read what the Dev's wrote, maybe scan thru the body for interesting tidbits and then post their thoughts. So I think you scoffing at the camps data completely is probably not correct. 2. I agree that it is right to be jaded about statistics, mostly because most surveys are worded in a way t
PBEM I bet will be in, and if it isn't, it is so niche it would be so insignificant to sales. I hope it is in, not because I will use it but because I want it to be accessible to as many people as possible to play in the most ways possible. But people that are saying OMG if this game doesn't have PBEM it should not even be made, that's just ridiculous. TBS is my favorite genre and I have NEVER played by email.
Friendly bump. We are up to 38 respondents, but the only significant change is camp 3 and camp 1 are now dead even. Just want to bump this up, if we get up to 50 respondents I will post the full results again.

WAY too complicated, considering the vision is to have tens or probably hundreds of thousands of citizens. not r
I agree with psychoak - this concept of different animals in caravans to change their speed, ability to defend themselves, etc and be able to swap animals in and out as caravan animals/mounts - it's too much hassle without adding anything that I can see. If you have a location that you are shipping a lot of stuff to, but not away from, you are gonna end up with a mess of horses, camels or whatever in that town.
Question to the devs: Is there population morale in the game? And if there is, and it gets too low can your hero become an outcast (effectively having to start over, but with a computer controlling your orignal empire)?
I am not a dev but from everything I have read so far, I don't think so. Very worst case scenario I could see would be people leaving your kingdom. They are not going to throw you out of your own
How many "types" of natural resource are there? I can think of metal, wood, food, crystal, mount. Now look at the mid range values for early, mid and late game - 5, 10, and 16.5. Possibly they are thinking of haveing an early, mid-game, and late version of each "type" of resource with possibly a smattering of other misc resources? I could picture something like: Early game: Metal: Iron (to make stuff) Gold (medium of exchange) Wood: Pine (Is that one of the easier wood

I can't wait to get my hands on the "not fun" beta 0. I think I'd have fun even if all that I got to do in Beta 0 were look at random renders of the cloth map.
Lol, This is just how I feel! If you guys pull this off, you are going to have one of the best selling games of all time! [e digicons]:erk:[/e] I really cannot express the high hopes I have for this game!
