Could the thing you guys are calling ruins be a mine of some kind, and the illumination is just FOW visibility due to player having units there? I don't think the red border is a city border, it more likely the complete border of that kingdom, which atm is only one city - seems to me the city border is the wall/hedge thing.
Quoting Scoutdog, reply 2 The channeler-essence system should alse have an interesting effect on this, as a powerful channeler and a channeler with a lot of cities would sort of be equally tough (if not equal). That's roughly how I read the public dev goal discussion so far, but there's still plenty of room for devilish details. My ludicrous desire to see the game work for a channeler who d
I would bet Kinko's would be able to do something like this, CafePress might also. I highly doubt that SD would want to branch out into doing this. I'll check CafePress and see if they offer anything like this. CafePress will print you a large, custom poster for $21. http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/product.aspx?clear=true&no=54 I suppose if cloth was a big deal you c
I think the best possibility that has been discussed is the need to actually defend all of your territory (to avoid trade routes being disrupted, etc etc.) Certainly there are going to be some unavoidable benefits to a larger kingdom. And I don't think those benefits should be arbitrarily coded away. But the need to maintain long supply lines and resource caravans, and basically protect ALL of your territory (not just garrison your cities) is a natural way to deal with urban sprawl. (Nothing
Well, when are earth and air not going to be available? Fire....hmm not sure how that would work to find fire in nature either. I was thinking more that each element should have it's own strengths and weaknesses. And water should be able to cast some spells without access to water, but it seems like if you are g
OK you two smart guys [e digicons]|-)[/e] so if all fallen are evil, and humans are both good and evil, how do you think the 12 factions will shake out between human and fallen, good and evil?
I like the suggestion above to have at least one manual spiral bound so you can open it to the page you need and leave it there. This should at least contain all the technical how to stuff, and preferably the spell book as well. I can remember finding what I needed in the MoM manual and then sticking it under the corner of my keyboard to keep it propped open to what I needed. The lore, and lots of the "non reference" material could either be included in the spiral if that is easiest,
Wow! With 12 factions I kind of (mistakenly) assumed that there would be 6 good faction and 6 evil ones and that they would kind of mirror eact other. If you eliminate the good/evil selection for pre-made tribes, does that mena they start neutral and their decisions will lead to a good or evil alignment ala GC2? Will there be a neutral alignment? Or did I misinterpret, and the 12 factions will not have the good or evil option because they will be inherently good or evil already, and y

While I would love to see terrain in the tactical battle play a large part (i.e. bonuses for holding the high ground) there is such a thing as biting off more than you can chew. Now for a water mage to require a nearby source of water for some of his spells - both doable and fitting. And like I said if they could actually make high ground vs low ground, attacking from the protection of trees, etc matter in the tactical map, that would be very cool but it might be a lot ot expect.
I'd also like to offer my services to SD as a proofreader (free of charge) for the manual or any other materials such as the read-me, etc. I have proofread for a novel as well as some short stories for a sci-fi author (my cousin, Lee Allred). I was a Sterling Scholar candidate in English 30 some odd years ago. Don't judge based on my typing, I am a terrible typist with lots of typos and for most things I don't proof read my own stuff. And I know there is spell checkers etc and even gr
I think a mine playing out should maybe be an uncommon random event. (If you get this event a mine/other resource is randomly chosen for depletion. I agree all mines should not play out. Also, regarding my first post, I wasn't really advocating most of those things - I was just throwing ideas out to see where you might run with them. I veel pretty ambivalent on most of them, but like some of what has been posted afterwards. I do like the idea of new resources popping up, due t
Wow, I am only about 30 minutes from SLC. I've lived here almost all of my 45 years, and I love it. The economy here is pretty strong compared to the rest of the country, I think. I am sure it wil

Hey all! For Survey number 3, I thought we might do a compilation of questions that you all want asked! Just FYI, the surveymonkey will allow multiple choice single answer, multiple choice multiple answer, ranking, or score scaling. (It will also allow essay answers, but those are too hard to share the results with everyone). So provide me with the questions you would like included on the survey. If it is multiple choice, provide me with the choices. I will also credit you in the surv

Wow, some poeple will do anything to get in alpha. [e digicons][/e] Just kidding, nice thought, and if I lived in the area I would probably do the same - well I don't drink but I'd spring for lunch or something, if for no other reason than to watch Boogiebac make things out of toothpicks.
4th option; I design the polls to get what I want. [e digicons]}:)[/e] I was really surprised at how evenly split question 4 ended up. I mean, there is only 1/3 of a rating step between the top choice and the 4th faviorite. I was also surprised that "Dying curse" was the least popular choice, I expected it to be more popular than landwaster for sure. But if there were no surprises, it wouldn't be much fun, would it? Besides if they blitzed all over to grab resources, aren't those resources going to be poorly defended of necessity?

But yes we have already had 5 more responses since I posted results, so I am sure there will be an update.
