Guess you guys didn't see Lord of the Rings when the undead come in to save the day vs the then WINNING side. The humans had no chance of victory, but, all of a sudden and how about that JUST LUCKY IN THE NICK OF TIME they appear on these black boats and kill everything in sight. lmao. I bet yall loved that part didn't you? Then at helms deep or was it Minas Tirith when it is about to fall and they ride out to glorious death
Denryu
Good AI != "OMG the human is winning, going into GOD-MODE!" I don't mind giving the AI advantages, in most cases it needs them to have a chance against human players. But I think this granting mystical powerz and invincible armies because you are doing well is exactly the wrong and stupid thing to do. If anything to speed up the steam roller process the AI should concede the game, surrender their forces to you (or to someone whoever they are most closely allied with). People bitch about clean
It's not pirated it's abandonware and 100% legal.
Taken, and glad to see someone else doing the survey monkey thing - Good job! I agree with Will for question 1, making it a point of negotiation is an awesome option. (and if agreement can't be reached it could even lead to war...!!!!!)
Do you mean a spell costs a certain percent of your total mana? I don't care for that at all, if that is what you are suggesting. That completely goes against the idea of building a large mana pool. Not for all spells... just the nes you specifically don't want to be made easier for a mana-horder to cast. Diminishing returns on some aspects of the spell system certainly wouldn't hurt.
One word. Blegh.
One thing I would like to see is a percent cost for some spells, as opposed to jsut numbers. Also variable costs where you can choose the limitations on the spell and affect its other stats.
Do you mean a spell costs a certain percent of your total mana? Added as attribute 1.5. Thanks!
Since we haven't gotten a lot of details about the MAGIC SYSTEM [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] I thought I would post some thoughts I have had during the interminable months of waiting to hear more about the MAGIC SYSTEM[e digicons]:-"[/e] . Spells have a bunch of different attributes that give them their unique character. Some simple stupid systems really only have one or two attributes - for instance sure you might have similar spells among different schools, but there really isn't that
I don't understand the heir argument - It has not even been outlined that anyone is even designated as your heir. I still hope that when your chenneler dies, you lose. If you are talking about being heirs within the families, such as being the leader of a town etc. I see no reason to enforce any gender rules, or even primogeniture for that matter. For the purposes of the game your descendants are, fundamentally, trading chips to curry favor with other factions thru intermarriage. As far as in
I still think if the channeler dies you should lose. Having your descendants be playable is awesome, but I still think that your channeler that you start the game with, if he dies it should be game over. In fact I think that should be the definition of losing the game. I guess we will see
family members can become playable characters in the game world similar to “heroes” found in other games who have their own unique abilities based on their pedigree. Wow, this is a nice tidbit that wasn't in the IGN article - does this mean we could essentially set up a breeding program? [e digicons]}:)[/e] "And how is this possible? For he is the <span sty

Well you want variety but parity, and sure there should be multiple factions that are roughly on an equal playing field as far as viability but not being identical. And I guess there is always the option of creating a gimp faction. I would just like to see a few of the canon factions have the odds stacked against them. Out of the dozen factions what would be wrong with 8 being relatively balanced (but still with huge variety) and then having 4 factions at varying degrees of gimpness.
And it is likely that Brad can't tell us about the "compelling new feature" until these rags publish. /foot tap
With 12 factions there should be plenty of variety, some that are well balanced and some that are gimpy. I am with the people who feel that too much concern for balance absolutely kills this kind of game. It's kind of like socialism for entertainment = bland experience.
It would also be cool if each faction had their own UNIQUE version of Torin, the Chosen One. Maybe a faction specific quest to get him/her to join your cause. Maybe any Kingdom faction could get any other Kindgdom hero and likewise for the Empires, maybe a weaker version if it is another faction's hero.
I'll go a step further and say throw out balancing all together. Have some factions that are so gimp it is ahrd to win single player on Easy setting. If it becomes a big deal in MP and they all want to be perfectly balanced, let them all play the same faction or their own customer faction. Do not try to balance all the factions, neither unit by unit nor even over all.
OK BSOD was said somewhat tongue in cheek, say how much fun you are having when you aren't crashing every five minutes...[e digicons][/e]
I agree psychoravin, having balance be the goal has probably been one of the biggest things that has undermined any MoM wanna-bes. I played the demo of Dominion III and that looked pretty promising also. I don't have any illusions that this going going to be just like MoM, frankly I have hopes that it is going to surpass MoM just because of the quality of games StarDock has put out. I hope and half expect that EWOM will be the bar that future TBS and especially fantasy TBS will be mea
Tomorrow is shaping up to be pretty awesome for a Monday... all this and in antoher post Frogboy mentioned that a new component that they expect us to find "compelling" will also be unveiled tomorrow.... I almost feel like a ten-year old on Christmas Eve! [e digicons]:erk:[/e]
Quoting Denryu, reply 5 The fact that in the survey I asked for opinions on if "religion" should be in the game was not an invitation for you to make bigoted remarks in an attempt to start a flame war. Ahem! Perhaps not but, by asking questions about politics or one's internet behavior in an Elemental poll, you opened the door to off-topic remarks. Something to do with the sentenc
