Quoting endofdayz, reply 66 I wasn't arguing against that, I was arguing against a single slider with a whole bunch of different unrelated mechanics on it. Then we weren't argueing lol. I would want a range of atleast a few sliders, though for simplicity they would likely make it 2 at most, who knows eh? When an AI is clearly losing, they might have a priority shift, and assume
Willow, Labrynth, Dark Crystal and Neverending story!!!
Neverending story was the gheyest piece of crap ever filmed. Recommend: Dragonslayer, Dragonball: Evolution (I just watched DVD I am amazed at how well they caught the feel of the animations in a live action film) and speaking of animations they whould watch all four seasons of Avatar: the last airbender (if they haven't already) </p
If you preorder before beta is released you will be in for sure. If you preorder within a week or two of beta, you will also almost for sure be in. Anything after that, I don't think so.

I just played my first game of Twilight of the Arnor this weekend - I have to say I was surprised at the AI improvements over original GalCiv2. (Now won't I look stupid if there were no AI changes!) On normal difficulty it seemed to give me a lot better of a game, with the AI reacting as I would expect another human to react - I was going for an ascension victory and was very pleased at the AI's reaction and repeated efforts to shut me down.
I hope they have traits that can be passed on to descendants. That will make it a real choice of whether to use the unit as a hero (and risk losing the genetic material for future generations) or not.
I liked no HDR, then 75, then 100.
It's called conceding a point dickhead. Of course there are some people you can't even make a gesture toward that they won't kick you in the teeth just to feel superior. Keep it up and you will end up like the poor (recently departed) psychoravin [e digicons]:'([/e]
Not to mentione when the earlier screen shots were released I don't eveen know how many times Frogboy and Boogiebac repeatedly stated they were to show the art direction but that they were VERY far from what the finished product would look like. Gratned, people that see a screenshot on a gaming site that did not see all those caveats, it's not surprising they thought that was the look of the game.
Not necessarily ALL, bu tthe last I heard, IF the release date is pushed back to August 2010, beta will be cloth map for the rest of 2009. And I am sure that is all subject to change. It will probably be "cloth map until we are X% locked down on gameplay features".
2 is superior, but they both look fine and eminently playable.
Rubbing the UGLY CLOTH MAP in our faces again, eh? [e digicons]^_^[/e]
No matter what happens, psycho will be correct in his own mind, it won't matter what ideas SD implements he will claim those are "minor" and whatever gets turned down or not included he will think that vindicates him and he will be crowing "I told you so!" and putting his shoulder out of joint from patting himself on the back for his 5th dimensional thinking and insight into Brad's thought processes....[e digicons]:|[/e]
Well, if all we're gonna do in the beta is find bugs and exploits, I wonder why we'd need almost a full year to pull that off... And to counter your 'Currently, most of the major gameplay aspects are locked down' I'll let Brad say it in his own words from this journal... A Stardock BETA isn’t a typical beta. It’s really not a beta by typical industry terms. Rather, it’s more of a prototype. GalCiv players,
Weapons can have their base attack, attack speed, and any combination of enchantments (fire dmg, poision dmg, ice dmg, etc), and add in ranged options and the matrix of possibilities is actually really large. We dont want to get into too fine of detail with battles since the war-game is only part of a much larger picture.
The question is, if units do not have different resistances to different elements, aren't fire
I read from a dev that StarBases were not in the original GalCiv design and were suggested by a forum member. Those are a HUGE part of the game and were not just "a few lines of code". Psycho needs to pull his head out of the fifth dimension and quit speaking about things that he has no clue. They have already stated multiple times that one of the main reasons they are keeping beta on cloth map is so they can make LARGE CHANGES based on feedback and won't end
Quoting KellenDunk, reply 28 I don't expect this one aspect of diplomacy to become the entire game. This discussion leads me to believe others think it will. That's because most others on this forum think one diminsional in every catagory of thought. Just overlook it it of course won't be the entire game of course.
Hint: thinking with your head up your butt does not
Sorry to raise the Ewww gross factor...[e digicons]:puke:[/e] But a lot of ancient royal dynasties had a lot of inbreeding, mostly to keep power "in the family". Brother-sister was not unheard of in ancient Egypt and I think first cousins was not uncommon at all in Medieval times. Now in Elemental it seems at least possible that you may be marrying people to each other for certain genetic traits, esp magic ability. I am just wondering if there are going to be any rules in plac
It's kind of funny, until I read Kellendunk's post I had not really given the family thing much thought - now I am thinking of all kinds of possibilities... [e digicons]}:)[/e]
Awesome! that was a great article and pix!
I tend to agree, but it is an exciting new feature and I think it is great for everyone to put all their ideas out there. I see it working more along the lines of when you marry as you have children, when you go into diplomacy your kids and the guy you are speaking withs kid's show u
