I think it likely that a lot of information from now on will come in the builds of the beta. According to the builds schedule they will need to average a new build about every two weeks (if they implement only one new element per build, anyways) so I think probably rather than posting Dev journals, we can expect a lot of the new information to be within the beta builds themselves. Still hoping for Dev jounral goodness and lots of lively discussion, but I expect there will be a swing from post
Well, if not a double click zoom, what about a mouse wheel zoom on the cursor ? Like the Suprem Commander's one which is quite usefull and would be good on Elemental too imo.
It's in the game (zoom to cursor). I think you can also tab to go to the next unit.
let me guess you want a Kwisatz Haderach ?
Lol, I have already proposed the Kwisatz Haderach thought: https://forums.elementalgame.com/362345/get;2352797 I know it is not really how genetics work, but I would like to see something like this in the game. Taking a single attribute, say innnate fire magic skill, and having one parent (mother)
I am with you that the default "if you cross the border that is a declaration of war" is too harsh. And maybe it is just there because there is no diplomacy for now so they wanted to show that something happens. Down the road I would like to at least start out neutral with guys who are on the same side as you (Empire vs Kingdom) and that as neutral you could walk thru each others lands. Or maybe the first time you cross it gives you the option to sign a right of passage treaty with them
However, I notice in SS #2 above, that there are both red and yellow rooftops in one asset - so that leads to the question - is roof color going to denote faction? That's a zoomed-in view and seems to me that the roof tiles are all 'the same color,' just with varying saturation. (I see no yellow.) I mention the zoomed-in part because I have a hard time imagining that you'd need roof colors to let you know what y

So to hit August 2010 release you are planning on roughly 1 release every two weeks (actually faster than that to allow for time between gold master and manufacturing/distro... or do you suspect that some stages may take only a week and others might take 3 or 4 weeks? At any rate VERY cool to publish this schedule.

Question: I had assumed that the roof color was related to the facion being played - a designation so that soomed in you could tell whose stuff you were looking at. Saw the nice blue tile and now red and yellow in these shots. However, I notice in SS #2 above, that there are both red and yellow rooftops in one asset - so that leads to the question - is roof color going to denote faction? Also side comment - please assign faction colors in a different way than in GalCiv2. Sometimes, wh
Just like to say I am not polobo and polobo is not me. I saw the icon and thought "Iposted in this thread already?" and then I was thinking yeah this sounds like me, damn do I have Alzheimer's? and was like wtf and then I saw the name and I was like lol and whew I'm not losing my mind. I think if you are expecting a game like most games in beta (90% complete and helping iron out gameplay balance and bugs) then you are probably going to be disappointed. I think they are sincere in saying they don't expect it to be fun (other than the enjoyment of watching a game come together from the ground up). But if you are expecting a fun GAMING experience at the beginning, again I think that is what they are warning against. Yes they want to MAKE it fun on the cloth map

I much prefer the direction of counter magic/ wards and so forth than simply raising the cost of s spell because it crosses a border - even if that border is created by essence infused land. I just think most aggressive spells like volcano, although you might cast it on your own land for defensive reasons, certainly there are such spells that are intended to be cast mostly on enemy lands. So to me it doesn't make sense to increase the cost. Logic vs gameplay - well I don't really agre
That's like sayiong there can be no more great books because they are all derivative or no new great music for the same reason. You can do something completely new fresh and dare I say it? original by drawing on the strengths of existing works! I mean there are going to be cities (deriviative from Civ! + hundreds of others) There is going to be research trees (again at least dozens if not hundreds of games already) um armies and tactical battles. A lot of us came here hoping for "MoM
They will be excepting later pre-orders. However, if you want yours to be accepted, you should pre-order in the next couple of weeks. [e digicons]^_^[/e]
I think it would really depend on the spell. I mean, unless there is some reason you might want a volcano in your land, it only makes sense that the cost is going to be based on casting it in enemy territory (althought I suppose I could see it being used to block a mountain pass...) I think more than territory, though, cost should scale with distance from where you are casting it. If your channeler is actually in said enemies territory, and wants to raise a volcano nearby, I don't see
It's not good vs evil it is life magic vs death magic. Death magic users are by definition Fallen. They can still play as goody goody or evil as they want - same goes for Kingdoms, at least that is how I have always seen it. I don't think they are predefining the factions as good or evil.

Fiathful was a bad choice of words. I should say they recreated the same feel as the anime, which I was very surprised how well they captured that in live action. Oh and when they get CalCiv III - watch all 5 seasons of Babylon 5. OK, the first 4 seasons then.
Isn't "gameplay" suppose to be an overarching structure of the game, how can you pull out what your eyes see and your brain experiences from that structure by manufacturing false juxtaposition of gameplay vs visuals? That doesn't make any sense...
edit: I see Boogiebac already addressed all this so feel free to disregard. This post assumes that channeler death = you lose. So you take your channeler out fighting, he is a decently tough channeler and has an escort of a couple of heroes and let's say "a good sized army", whatever that ends up being. So they go out and get in a fight with another army. What, if anything, is going to keep the opposing player from ignoring all the other units and swarming the channeler? Or is a channeler going to be theoretically powerful enough that if they do he can take t

I like how galciv 2 does it - one slider, but you can see what is causing it to be at it current state as opposed to neutral. So positive influences that could be added would be marriages, common enemy, etc and negative influences could be marriages, common enemy (each other), etc... Many moons ago there was a thread about introducing a respect/fear element into it, I think machiavelli even got quoted once or twice. Although I am thinking that may have been directed more
