I have been thinking about various methids of handling unit visibility and army visibility. In GC2 you essentially have a "sensor range" and anything in that range gets detected. While that makes sense in a space game, I think that it needs to be changed for EWOM. Maybe this has already been addressed by the devs and they have something snazzy already developed. But I'll go thru the thought exercise that I have had for the last couple of days anyway. First, why not jsut stick witha GC

My bottom line on the spy system: If SD determines that sliders is the best that they have time and resources for, I would want it in the game FOR THE SAKE of those that find it important/ I would likely never use it, but there are certainly enough people that it matters to that it should be in. I would really like to see one of the races be consummate spy masters, I think it was MoO or MoO2, they had a race that was abysmal at research, but it didn';t matter because they just
And if we can start with a simple economy according to Frogboy and from there make it grow along the beta, why not a espionage system?Well, the beta is one thing, and I don't really mind sliders, but since everything costs dev time, there are other things we could devote it to as opposed to a system that isn't much fun and sets the loud peopole off again.
I'm just curious, do you consider me a loud person, Scou
@PurplePaladin: errr.... did you just kinda hint you were in the alpha? No, don't tell me actually...better leave it there. PS: Where did you get that pict of me??
Well it is obvious that any screens that Frogboy posts right now are alpha or pre-alpha, so I don't see how PP is saying anything one way or the other about being in the alpha.
I chose the second option on the first question, because espionage that I ahve seen done with sliders is not fun and is just a chore and a money drain. Obviously that is just an opinion, which the purpose of a survey is to get people's opinion. Saying that you could say the same thing for combat and that it needs to be innovative, I would still put option 1, that it needs to be in whether it is innovative or not. That is because combat is fun, regardless if it is MoM style, Empire:Tot
As promised, here are the results. The answer to "how many suckers you can catch on one hook?" is 100. [e digicons][/e] 1. There have been some lively discussions about espionage in Elemental recently. How important is espionage? A. It is critical and should be included even if the best they can do is sliders to allocate resources to espion

I like the idea of their being lots of questing available, not just towards the VC. And I think that getting started on the "epic" VC quest should be fairly common, i.e. maybe half of the quest givers are flagged that when you complete his quest he can offer you his standard reward or "information about the most amazing Whatzit ever!" if you take the information he steers you towards the next person in the chain. Maybe gives you something that will make that person actually talk to you.
That was funny. Question 4 was entertaining. Would be fun to see if those guys have seen it ^^
Actually, exactly two people responding with "I am that idiot", so I am guessing they took the survey - hope they got a chuckle out of it.
I was told I need to give advance notice of surveys closing before I post results. So, not that there was anything in this survey that anyone cared about anyways, but the first posting of results will be at or about noon tomorrow (Pacific time). Any results after that may never see the light of day.
is there some legitimacy to the claim that they might be pushing back the beta date?
None whatsoever. It was just a thought that I thought might illicit a response. There is no reason whatsoever to beleive that beta will be pushed back.

Lol, I just remembered that I was going to have GW Swicord look over my next survey before I sent it. OOOPS! [e digicons]8O[/e] Lol I am not really beating myself up - it's kinda funny, I wanted to to a survey but just couldn't work up the initiative to do a good one. There could be RNG elements but it wouldn't be the end all be all. I have been playing a lot of GC2 this weekend (imaging that it is land being healded by my ilnfluence, and turning laserfire into spells in my mind lol). Anyway I could see this project working somewhat like a terror star in TWOTA. How they need to have multiple constructors, likewise it could take multiple mundane spies gaining influence before sending in a hero spy to completely dominate the minor race's leader. Wher
I rather like this. We'd still have to think of something for the major players, but this has a lot of potential. One way I see of extending it to majors is the ability to misinform the learder: you get Grima'd, and the enemy actually shows you things that aren't there. Like your ally betraying you, and stuff. Again, not very fleshed-out, but worth considering....
Yep this is one thing that could be used directly against the o
Your idea seems fun, but there would definitely need to be some significant resistance when such a thing happens. Some commanders will see what you're doing and rebel, others will fall under your influence. It SHOULD be evident that someone is messing with this kingdom's leadership, but it shouldn't be evident who it is (unless someone makes a concentrated effort to find out). There would of course be significant consequences if someone wo

Sorry for another thread on espionage, but there are several threads with spy conversations going and I want to address some points in all of them, and I don't want to post my response in all those threads. In one of those threads someone had the idea of a Grima type of espionage - it's a cool idea and definitely fits the genre. but it never really gained traction and I never really considered it seriously because as I imagined how it would play out in the game I was imagining how thi
