This is just me dropping my unsolicited 2 cents here, but for future polls, I'm not sure if it's the best policy to post results as you go when the polling is still in effect, if you want people's honest, initial reactions to the questions. Seeing results have a way of influencing the results of subsequent votes, either from bandwagon or contrarian mindsets. Nice work on the poll though!
Yep I

I will say I do not like the idea of an espionage victory condition. I would need to see the final implementation but as a general idea I do not like that (even if there is an espionage system in the game, I can't see how you could have a good victory condtion based on it.)
What they could do is make it part of a quest for when the hero joins you. So when the hero joins you he could say on a recent exploit his sword was lost on some cave doing battle with x beast. It then makes finding the magic item that belongs with the hero less a matter of luck and more performing a quest.
Yes this is what I had in mind. The hero could also make retreiving his sword a condition for

Come on, we are two people short of having 100 people that took the survey - and we are up to 9 hours since the last survey was taken! Either it was a popular survey (the highest total responses on any previous survey is 71) or we are just starting to get a lot more people on the forum. At any rate, when a couple of more people have taken it, I will post "final" results.
Excellent points. And thank you for using the correct spelling of vein, it drives me bonkers when people say "in the same vain" or worse "in the same vane". [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] I like the idea about certain items for certain heroes. It would be cool if some heroes, maybe the condition to get them to join you is that you help them recover said item via a quest! I also like the old standbys of being able to hire heroes, or heroes just deciding to join your cause, and it sounds lik
This is already pretty fundamental to the game - the world is a scorched wreck at the start of the game, and you will be changing the landscape in somewhat the way you are talking. The way that you will change the landscape will be based on whether you follow life or death magic, I do not think at this point the other schools play into that aspect. Later in the game their will also be major "world altering spells" which we are told will be similar to what you could do in Populous. So
Alpha is planned to start tomorrow and invites for it have already gone out. If you preorder now you will be in the beta that is shceduled to begin Sept 3-6. Nice first post, and welcome to the forums. I'll add my thoughts. Diplomacy. the biggest thing I find lacking in diplomacy in most games is the AI personalities are too static. The belligerent war monger is always the same, the nice helpful guy that wants to be friends is also, etc. Sure they need to be CONSISTENT, but th
It shouldn't surprise you that a lot of people are 100% sure to not be selected. I have not pre-ordered and have no interest in participating the the alpha, and I'm sure a lot of people are in my boat. Alpha-testing is not "fun".
Ah yes I didn't think about the fact that some people might take the survey who had not pre-ordered. I pre-ordered so long ago that I just started thinking that was a given for anyone on the forum.
If they used the ability to join an army, I don't think you would want to complicate it with "what if the spy fought in a battle against me? Just treat the army as a normal stack as far as the victim goes, and the spy is giving you the info of what units and how many are in the army, as well as giving you visibility from that enemy stack. (during your turn you could inspect the stack, and it would clear fog of war for you. At least that was the concept I was thinking of.
One idea on how spying could be a bit more fun. 1. I agree they should not be able to assasinate or sabotage. 2. The only defense against spies should be magical in nature, or possibly a default amount of anti-espionage that costs nothing. Needing to sink money into anti espionage is a not fun option. 3. Spies can steal tech (spy owner gets a tech), report on spells known by the person being spied on (each spell could have a saving throw against being reported), join a
I am not against it being pushed back, but I think they should wait to make the decision if it is necessary. Pushing it back simply because they have the luxury of being able to, that I would be against.

Yep all opinions are welcome I am sure, but anyone claiming that the art style they are going with is going to doom the game - just flat stupid IMNSHO. BoogieBac (?) or one of the devs posted the graphics from Galciv2 at this same point of development - they have repeatedly said that the graphics are not done. A lot of people, I am one of them, thenk the graphics are just great and not cartoony at all! I like the stained glass posted above, even before that was posted I thought it was
Oops, looks like I voted too late :/
No worries, this is just the first batch of results, and responses are still coming in at a pretty good rate. When it slows down to a new response every few hours I will be posting updated results. [e digicons][/e] There were just a few people that were getting anxious to see feedback, and I told them when we broke 50 surveys taken I would post it.

I was pretty surprised at the results to almost every question - which is cool, I like surprises. My analysis: 1: I was amazed more people did not select push it back based on the feedback in Frogboy's related thread. 2 & 3: Surprised so few people have "trying to break the game" as an option. 4: about what I expected. 5: Very intersting that only 14% feel that having the features that they want in the canon games is "very important". 6. 41.8% are 1
First batch of responses with 55 respondents.
I certainly enjoyed filling it out. I like these surveys from time to time. Perhaps once in a while even more than on a weekly basis. Since I didn't know it was coming, it kept me on my toes.
Taken. I'm curious to find out how many people think they are 100% sure they will be in the Alpha. I assume that since you have questions like that, you will put out the results before Thursday, no matter how many people take it?
Taken. How many people do you think constitutes a "good sampling"?
Based on prior survey results 30 is usually a good number. On most surveys I don't like to post results too soon, because it could influence later people taking the survey (minimal, but certainly some). This survey already has 17 respondents, so I would say it will be highly likely that I will post something within 24 hours. If it hits 50
