But I'll just repeat what I've said before, when it comes to tactical battles, we look at MOM as the inspiration. And most of their elements that people liked were strategic game features that were translated their way into tactical. No one would ever call MOM a tactical war game. But it's tactical was extremely fun.
This is fine by me as well if we're actually going to see these things. I could pro
If the goal is to make the tactical battles so basic that they don't affect the outcome vs. automatically resolving, don't include them. I would much rather deal with Civ style auto resolve as the only option, than knowing there is this 'tactical' system tacked on for no other reason than to include it in the feature list. That's a pretty unfair assertion. Tactical battles are pretty fun. T
Quoting Wintersong, reply 31Can I ask what role, if any, does the dynasty system play in the future of FE? Surely it would be in the bottom of the list (if it is there!) but I'd enjoy reading what the team has to say about it (be it good, bad or "Dynasty system? What's that?"). None that I know of.
Boo. :P I had sort of figured this already, but the Dynasty system as described was pretty fantastic. I honestly
I think you are reading too much into the tactical battle comments. I believe he just wants to point out that the battles should not take too long, not be overly complex and one should not be able to rule the world just by being great at tactical battles alone. If it was possible to win battles against far superior enemies on a regular basis, then the rest of the game would have no importance. You need to gather good units on the world m

The tactical battles news does honestly make me a little sad. I guess I shall reserve judgement until I know precisely what these 'other changes' will entail, but I would like to put forward that: If the goal is to make the tactical battles so basic that they don't affect the outcome vs. automatically resolving, don't include them. I would much rather deal with Civ style auto resolve as the only option, than knowing there is this 'tactical'
We had Co-op and VS, usually big maps with lots of hard AI, partly because normal AI was to easy or didn't cheat and have more gold or whatever was needed in that game.
Hah, co-op vs AI is a blast. We did a lot of that in Civ4 as well. Often tried a brutal mix of One City Challenge, Raging Barbs, and a mix of higher levels of AI. So. Much. Fun. I remember the very first time we tried this and saw that the

Using E:WoM as a basis for how used the multiplayer component is/was used is ridiculous. It was - unfortunately - a terrible game; one that I was embarrassed to have followed so avidly. As such, I never really touched the MP component. I doubt I would be alone in feeling that way, either. The Civ games and Age of Wonders (sometimes even PBeM, but many live games too) have lived much, much longer in my 'current' gaming rotation over a span of many years due to their ability to

I had noticed this, it's a great touch. Still, though! I don't imagine the custom card idea to take much in the way of dev resources, so far as new features at this point go. It's no gamebreaker to me, but it'd be nice nonetheless. Perhaps a post release thing. :)

I know we're not going to get the morality techs GalCiv2 had, but it would still be nice to get some of those sorts of options/events we had thrown at us every so often. i.e., The innkeeper's wife claims mistreatment at the hands of her husband, and wants you to put an end

0.2? I thought they added 0.3.. And I could have sworn that I did see an increase after gaining a few of the same type. However, the movement increase isn't one I've looked into; will see if I can reproduce that. I've been creating custom sov's with a decent amount of move from the get go, because a few levels for one extra tile of movement seems a bad investment to me. :P

Out of curiosity, did the Skath actually attack you? I had a coastal skath near me in a 0.802 game, and I was able to wander around it's area without incident, it didn't even seem particularly interested in persuing me at all. I have seen them around in 0.803 and the odd powerful spider as well; but the balance now seems MUCH better. There are a lot more mobs that I actually can combat around the place, and just a few that I avoid just incase I DO appear to be a rather

I've found mobs to be pretty decent now. A lot of lowbie spiders and bandits around, golems are not too bad (especially if you start as a Warlord. Seriously. That should probably be a talent that costs points or something). I've seen the odd 'big' monster around, like a Coastal Skag with an 80ish attack power and the like, but the balance is just fine now imo. Most things you can handle, some things you need to give a wide berth of. But at least so far, I've not had a single 'hemmed i

Had to host the debug.err on rapidshare; pastebin rejected it as being too large. :( http://rapidshare.com/files/400300819/debug.err.html Now, I'm not 100% sure how useful that file will be. This one is from a game where it just froze seemingly inexplicably. No hdd thrashing, no nothing, just no responce from it. Could click over to other monitor and do things there np, but even then game wouldn't minimise itself even though it's in fullscreen mode! Taskmanager was abl

I get this issue as well; without getting even close to Fortresses at times. Last game it happened very early, and seemed to simply be related to zooming out (undrawing detail) to cloth map, then upon zooming back into the 3D engine it didn't readd the detail. Often in place of buildings I'd get a smoke stack showing and nothin' else. :P

Just played a game of Beta2A/v0.803 and my word; the city building truly is so much improved now. Even without adjacency bonuses or merging tiles in yet, I I do however seem to be getting the issue where if I go to cloth map and back to 3D view the buildings disapear bug more often though. :( Anywho, I do have a suggestion to add to this that might make things a little bit more fun. Hehe. Anyone else play the SimCity games? (No, I'm not

Hi there guys, Fairly simple and easy to explain suggestion really. Remember how in GalCiv2 you were able to select your race's colour for the UI (and ships)? Well, let us do the same for the cards! Granted, race customisation isn't yet, so who knows, perhaps this is already possible? But every single card I've seen so far has had a white BG. If we could chose bg/text/banner colours it'd be fantastic. :)

Maybe can cost 1 gildar per turn 'fortified' on the inn to pay for room, with the side effect being that you regain hp etc. If you don't fortify, you don't regen but also don't get charged.

This might explain why I was able to do a research that supposedly unlocked 'Gardens', even though I had been building them earlier in the game.. heh

Hooboy. Dems a lotta changes! That first screenshot looks great as well! One suggestion I had been thinkin of lately actually was to have walls around fortified inner things like castles and the like in addition to the outer wall, and that covers that nicely. :) Other aspect to that was thinking of, was maybe some sort of Great Wall of China-esque technology/wall that covers your BORDERS rather than hugging the city.

Interplay sold the rights of the franchise to Bethesda with one provisio; they maintained rights to develop and launch a FO based MMO. But they had to have started development on it before x date (I forget when exactly). They didn't though; they started after and Beth contested them on it. Interplay claims they did and took shots of models and things supposedly relating to the MMO project, but I think were later found to be from another or earlier game altogether or something. lol

I had noticed this also. My sovereign was understandably upset; and began by sending out any heroes of the appropriate gender to meet him in the field.. For some reason.. None of them made it back home. Regretable, really. But then it kept happening! Unbelievable! With a Civilian! A Pleb! Suddenly a policy of mandatory drafting of all ages was implemented, and they were stationed at remote outposts and other cities further afield. Nor did this stop this seeming
