[quote who="Gyb" reply="4" id="2792864"] I've been trying to explore alternative strategies, as that is what I think will give Elemental the best "legs" (as in, the same reason I still play MoM 16 years later). Tried doing things like play a game and do no arcane research, no tech research, no X branch of tech research, etc. Bottom line so far is you can completely play the game with zero investment in the arcane research department, which is sad for a game called war of magic. Of course

"I speak severely to my boy, I beat him when he sneezes. For he can thoroughly enjoy the pepper when he pleases." It's all frame of mind really. Some people just like to be miserable. If you keep in mind the ideal of how you think things should be, and compare that to how things almost always deviate from that ideal (and considerably), then you're likely to find yourself a frequent malcontent for your insistent focus on the differences. I played the original but for some reason didn't get into it all that much (even though I love MoM). I've just purchased the trilogy off Impulse, so I'm gonna give it another go.

Yes, that information was available in the update schedule thread before it was horrifically obliterated by a nuclear bomb. What died there was a level of openness from the developers that may not return until the radiation has subsided. Lest we forget....
-New Global Enchantment: 'Topsy Turvey'. The plane flips upside down, and Sovereigns build cities in the clouds using... umm clouds. Food falls from the sky in the form of sheep and cattle that can no longer hold on to the grass by their teeth, and everyone takes upside down showers when it rains. -New Spell: 'Sacrelicious'. Sovereigns teleport their rivals in for a feast comprised mainly of their rival's animal deities, spit-roasted slowly in front of them. This gives the rival Sover
I forgot to mention. It would be good if Imbued Champions and Offspring that were heavy on the magic side could have ranged magical attacks. If they were specialized in a particular element (as mentioned above), then that ranged attack should relate to that element. This would tie in with the game very well. If not a ranged magical attack, then a special ability useable N times per combat or per turn that is not considered a spell, but is also tied to their chosen element. For example

-Add a troll bridge with trolls as a minor race. This minor race is unable to form alliances or have diplomatic negotiations with any other faction. As such, they are always a hostile faction and a common enemy to all other factions. The trolls cannot be permanently killed, but are placed on every map to be hacked down for fun, just so they can rise again and be hacked down again. You cannot pass over the troll bridge without taking out at least one troll. -New Unit - 'Kamikaze Olympi

All I want to know if the dragon battle with the flying soldiers in chain mail will be possible in this game. If the scope of that battle is not currently possible, will it be possible in the future? Yes or no would suffice. Frogboy did say they were rushing to get multiplayer out because it's on the box.
[quote who="Heavenfall" reply="28" id="2785401"]I think metalfacekevin is asking a reasonable question. He's not asking about epic battles, he's asking if the game, at some point, will look like the screens on the back of the box. I'm not saying he deserves an answer any more than anyone else does. But you guys trying to shout him down are just stupid as hell, purposefully misreading what he is saying. If I made a thread asking the devs a reasonable question,

There was this spider that spat something at me but luckily it missed. I don't know what it was, but it was pretty disgusting, so I just ran away. Then I sent this farmer guy after it to shoo it away or something. Which reminds me, I forgot to see if he came back. It's ok though because I have this other farmer guy now and this other guy who has a wooden club at home, and he said he can get to it pretty quickly if he needs to.

Disagree with all spells being random. You should have some set, with others random or else you cannot plan strategies. Disagree with having to know all lower level spells to get to spells of the next level. However, I do think that researching the next spell level is arbitrary and pointless, so spells should just be available based on spell books and should cost more the higher the level they are. If there is to be a requirement, then it should be prerequisite spells as in a tech-tre
