PS: standardizing PCs doesn't work because one of the primary draw of a PC is the ability to pick and choose parts when building your own to fit its role or your budget. Even if you don't actually "build" the system yourself. Out-of-the-box style PC are often considered the worse PCs you can own.
Aha! You fell for my trap! Welcome to the Elemental Development Team Toby, and thanks for the update on 1.1. Two questions: 1) How will imbued champions and offspring be interacting with the global mana pool (i.e. do they take mana from the same pool as the sovereign?) 2) Is the 1.1 patch going to be (hopefully) pushed back until the engine is modified to allow for unit abilities? Thanks [e digicons]O:)[/e]

I always pre-order and purchase games that I'm interested in on release. This is partly to support the developers and publishers of those games (by paying more for their product), and also partly to encourage those companies and others to make more of those types of games that I enjoy. As has been stated, the PC Game Industry is diminishing, and with it, there has been a reduction in the number of successful new IPs. My first real PC was a Tandy 1000SL with Deskmate OS, so I've been p

Thanks for that inside viewpoint Brad. I'm trying to get out of my current existence and get into game design/development. I have a degree in Computer Science, but I am planning on doing a 2 year specialised course (if I can hi-jack someone elses empty schedule). On the subject of postponing the new patch for heavier engine modification, my purely personal opinion as a games consumer is that implementing the unit abilities is well worth the wait. Judging from many of the sentiments pu

I think that besides the haters leaving (except Solidsmooky the Eternal), a lot of the forumites here have lightened up overall once they got over their initial disappointment, and saw signs of hope. Other people who had the foresight to be patient and continue supporting (and constructively criticizing) the game were labelled 'fanboys' and hated on, along with the game.

New Civ tech that grants you a new Level 5 city with all the buildings. This isn't so ridiculous, as there is an Adventuring tech that makes a buttload of huts appear where before there was nothing. My guess is that the tech allows you to remanufacture and micro-implement the 'Big Bang' event in discrete locations, and run a time-warp function that super accelerates until a sentient race with building capabilities evolves and does all the building for you, and populates the city. This theory

One could argue that units can undergo training in their idle time, and hone their skills in the academies when stationed in a city, or gain experience through travelling and having to scout, set up defensive positions, organize watches, logistics, etc. It would be a good way to make sure that your less used units don't fall too far behind in the mid to late game.
