Can you not acknowledge that this game is fundamentally broken? I fear this game will never realize its potential with so many on these boards feeling the game just needs a few tweaks. Every other rpg forum the VAST majority is calling it shite RPGWatch, AoWHeaven, RPG Codex, RPS, Blues News ... but we're the ones that are all wrong, you SD posters with 6 digit member numbers are the mans with the plans amirite?
Sorry, but I really have a hard time believing that you pa
I would think a lot more of SD if Brad had come right out and said "we broke the gamer's bill of rights as well as the trust of our fans" instead of "... then don't buy our games". After a weekend of trying to focus on the potential I have decided to get a refund. I hope this turns around for SD, but as this was my first experience with them I will definitely always wait for a demo from now on.
The
Most games don't care about mods .... this will not have huge impact on the fame. The typical gamer wants a playable game out of the box. Not one that takes mod to be fun. If the game is fun and mod extends that fun .. great! But, if you need mod to make the game fun .. Mod'ing will not have a large impact. The term does not generally refer to other forms of copy protection which can be circumvented without modifying the file or device, such as serial numbers or keyfiles." Emphasis mine.
If you noted the "editor's note", they pointed out MP was not available at the time of review, and that he was quoting the Elemental website's feature: Robust multiplayer. The reviewer was saying that a shit AI CAN be redeemed in a "robust multiplayer".
Brad, I have been a very outspoken critic of Elemental, in fact, on the verge of a return. Today I played a bit more and keep seeing more and more of the game's potential. Some of the design decisions are incredibly brilliant--I love how cities expand visually, and I love the aesthetic direction your art team chose to take. I would agree that this could be Stardock's magnum opus with a thoroug
I dunno, have you seen anything posted by rossanderson? That guy is pretty much the walking fanboy stereotype around here. Everything is perfect, any problems are made up (even ones confirmed to exist by the devs), and anybody not talking about how many awards the game will win is a troll if you listen to him. I mean in that one he takes a pretty good feedback thread and flat out tells the person to go away and play another game.
Report him, i gnore him, then move
You haven't been looking then. From my point of view what I am really looking for is Stardock to front up and admit that the gameplay needs rebalancing from scratch. My concern with the people who are strong fans of Stardock (one could use the label fanboy, but I see you object to that) is that their stance is often "it is fine, everything will be great in time". I don't agree with that stance - I think if Stardock
Notice I haven't called you a fan boy yet?
LOL. I have noticed. But I don't think I am one. I respect Stardock, but I have been fairly critical when it was warranted. I think we are having a respectful discussion. I also haven't seen you call anyone a fanboy in these forums. It may have happened, it may not have. I just think that we are just having some fun talking etiquette, nothing more. It just gets frustrating to me

Because this has proven really effective when dealing with the "Look, if you don't like it just ask for a refund. This place is for people who like the game" crowd. And the "You just don't get Elemental" crowd. If people can insult those who have problems with the game in a rou
I think calling fanboy behavior what it is when it happens is warranted, and people's ability to deal with that criticism is as much as sign of their maturity as just smiling and sipping tea whilst we discourse is. Or can I start commenting on people's maturity level when they white wash criticisms and generally go out of their way to avoid say anything that can be construed as negative? Back in the day, there was this game... you may have heard of it... it was called Pac-Man. Well, it had a bug where if a ghost was chasing you, it would reach a certain point where it slightly overlapped you and you could reverse direction and go THROUGH the ghost, avoiding being caught. This was a hole in the code that was never patched. Further incarnations of the game (Ms. Pac-Man, et al) did not have this bug/exploit. More complicated games, hardware,
Sorry, but that's funny. If someone calls you something negative, just recast it in way that makes you look positive! Yeah! Positive thinking is the way! Or you can be real, and realize that being a fanboy, while sometimes being good, also means a lot of negative stuff for both the person and Stardock. Fanboys say a lot about a company, both good and bad. If being blindly loyal and always shelling out for their product no matter wh
Fanboy. What a lovely statement. I have zero interest in Stardock's success or failure. What I am trying to say there is no other titles out there like this. It's worth being a supporter rather than a flamer, although so many people seem to think there opinion matters so much. Unfortunately, the internet is like a bunch of fucking people with Tourett'e Syndrome, you but can't help but blabbing something on the net that you would not say i

I don't want a refund because I still believe in Stardock and the company. I'm looking forward very much to modding the game, and I've always been active on the "ideas" thread. I think right now we're seeing two simultaneous debates going on that are easily mired together. There is the debate that Stardock is a great&nbs

Have you tried filling the spaces between tiles (i.e. the edges of a single tile) with roads (dirt or paved) at all? For instance, at the top edge of the tiles is a road texture, split in the middle so the bottom half of the road is visible. All bottom edges of tiles would be the same road texture with the top half of the road texture in the active tile space.

I would actually like to have a resistance for each school of magic, even life and death books (undead creatures and holy creatures rejoice). A positive number is a resistance while a negative number is a weakness. Cities should have a resistance value to enchantments that you can increase and decrease via spellcasting (or other various city improvements).

Of course that didnt pan through but it was still sold as the spiritual successor to Master of Magic and unfortunately it fell woefully short of that. Couple that with the horrible AI and memory leaks and all I can say is, "Houston we have a problem." Seriously though

I'll give it a B- right now, only because I know that it is only going to get better. Much better. Personally, I am enjoying it. I am very glad that they released it, particularly since Stardock seems now to be much more aggressive with their improvements and patches than they were in beta. It has alrady ramped up greatly from Day 0. The sky is the limit. If it was still in beta, we would be seeing much less progression on these improvements. Right
