Also, your scholars toiling away in your tech lab built on a city with a workshop and a farm, are in no way going to be capable of somehow unearthing gigantic ancient towers from the earth.
They don't do this. They uncover where they are located on your map. Think of it as they uncover or decrypt lost maps, learn of new methods ancient people hid entrances, learned how to look for signs of ruins, caves, etc.
They re-discover the location
Quoting theomni, reply 259 I liked sins of a solar empire, but felt a little cheated when basic things like diplomacy were turned into a paid expansion pack. Never bought any of the expansions since I felt they should have been included in any game billed as a 4x strategy. To be fair, Sins wasn't developed by Stardock, they were just the publisher. I'm pretty sure it was the developer's cal
Context is always present in fiction.

I think you are dead on with your post on context here, surlybob. "Unbiased" is not a thing an author can be, and "non-contextual" is not something a book can be.
But it does not have to reflect the stance of the author, which was described, particularly in the vast majority of writings. I spoke nothing of life experiences or research, merely of the direct point of the author's nature. Of course th
Who is attacking? This is English Literature 101 stuff I'm saying. The values of the person writing the story, of course. Now, it doesn't need "lessons" or "morals", but virtually all novel-length fiction does, even if it's trivial stuff like "Don't always trust the people closest to you".
Not even close. Fiction is a story of whatever the author wishes to write. It does not have to have any bearing on the moral fiber of that author, nor d

It's choices like this that have made the game's problems that much harder to take with a smile. When people say Elemental feels like it has a lack of direction at times, maybe it's because the lead developer didn't have his mind on the

Someone actually modded in a multiplayer hot-seat add-on that was brilliant. My friends and I would play for hours upon hours, days upon days. I wonder if that is still available somewhere, anywhere.
I'd rather see it fixed economically. the 5 tile limit already makes it hard enough to expand existing cities. a 10 tile limit would result in fewer cities, but they still wouldn't have room to expand. imo make any lvl 1 cities past your capital have a higher upkeep that lessons with each level. that would lead to fewer, more prosperous cities i think. edit: sorry i forgot i was on the mods

I would assume that there is a method to remove a spell from a spellbook. This is pure speculation, of course. It also may be possible to simply change the mana cost to some astronomical number that cannot be reached.
This is extremely relevant. But with all due respect, your statement is one of the main reasons why game companies continue to distribute beta-quality products. Its not enough to discuss something once. For things to change, your voice has to be heard. So let's not try and stifle someone's opinion just because you've heard it before.
No, it is still irrelevant. The game is released.&n
I am speaking for the majority. Because the majority bought a game, which according to Stardock themselves should have been better than it is.
You can't back up your stance just like I can't back up my stance. There is no way to know where the percentages lie.
EDIT: Yes, NWN and Civ "shined like diamonds" because of mods, but they didn't stink like a turd like Elemental does upon release.
Opinion.
The game wasn't unstable though. 1.0 was fairly stable, at least as much so as most PC games on release day. 1.05 was/is very stable.
To some it was unstable. I can sympathize with that. For me, the only crashes I experienced were the ALT-TAB crash (ATI compatibility issue) a couple of times and the memory leak (resolved in 1.06) one time.
BOTH Neverwinter Nights and Civilization 4 did not have a release like Elemental's. Civ 4 was very fun on release and NWN had a perfectly decent campaign. Neither of them had major gameplay and playability issues. Yes, we get it, Elemental is very moddable, but we (most of us anyway) didn't pay for mod tools.
Who is this "most of" you speak of. Are you now speaking for the majority?</
But is this honestly the right way to do business? They put out a game in an unstable state, get my game dollar now, and then take all the time in the world to fix it? Why is this ok? Why do I have to pay for crap now, in the hopes that it will be buffed out later? This isn't just Stardock, but it seems to be the norm for all these game companies to churn out beta games, knowing that we the consumer are ok with waiting around while they
