Oh so maybe it is the magic towns that get the golems. All in all I think maybe better than the forts for defense, unless that is just for Pariden.

Have to be
The upgrade that adds a catapult is pretty good though.
Comes with the fort? There is a city upgrade, maybe just for Pariden that creates a big golem guard, and you can unlock a second one as well, that works pretty well.

I played my last hero as a full melee Pariden Sov...wicked fun. I didn't take any magic to start but grabbed an air book for Thunderstrike. I made sure I got all the unlocks on my other heroes (look at the spell book for the spell combos). I never play empire so I don't have death buffs. With Porcupine's Crown, well, I buffed the crap out of him. Pick the act first trait (can get a lot of them because you don't start with magic), and Thunderstrike right into the midst of the e

If you open the city details screen it always shows you what you have. At rank two you get 3 crap troops and 1 archer unit. It just goes up from there, but they are all very poorly equipped. Even a rank 4 town will die to a single assassin demon without reinforcements. I am not sure what good they are other than as cannon fodder.

Well, at least they aren't immune to fire damage, so fire arrow=win. In my last game, I had assassin demons constantly attacking one of my outer cities and I had no idea where they spawned from, I just eventually cleared out that side of the map and never did see a spawn location anywhere close to that city.

What's wrong with snaking? Just make the AI snake towards resources. I guess it would be hard to get the AI to snake towards choke points. I like snaking, makes my city look like a strip mall.

I would like the option but once the game is stable and we have a better idea of how everything works. I am in kind of my 5th game now with a couple of quick ones in there and am just finally getting a feel for the game. I play Ironman once I have an idea that I might be successful. I only play HC in Diablo II for example.

No. You must buy the hero's horses in shops or find them on quests. The horses you have stashed are for troops that ride.

There needs to be something for builders to do. Not every game needs to be won as quickly as possible. I love maxing out my towns and if you are smart about leveling your heroes you can have mid teen level heroes pretty quickly. Turn in quests with as many heroes as you want together, kill monsters with 1 hero with troops that need to be leveled. Nature's Cloak or whatever it is is also easy to get, the more earth shards the better. I had 4 earth shards in my latest game and that

Could you please put a clear description of what this does in the latter tiers? When I took Evoker II earlier, it only displayed Evoker II down in my bar of traits and only said +25%. What's also not clear from traits like Spell Resistance is whether it's +10 for I, +15 for II = 25 or just 15. So the trait descriptions need a lot of work.

I turned off Quest, and Spell of Making. I did the Spell of Making once, way too easy. I think Diplomatic just means military victory but you can have allies. I don't think it's like Alpha Centauri or whatever where when you get 75% of the votes in council you win.
I've had the option to build a logging camp appear after expanding my city's zone of control, so keep that in mind.
I can only think you must be mistaken. If you mean you built a building right above your city to open up the option on a forest that was connected to your city by touching the top corner, then yes, but snaking to a forest or having them pop into your borders does not happen.

Didn't realise I lost research points when I traded them lol, not doing that anymore. The AI does seem to war a lot against each other. Heck in this last game Resoln is running around with their sov and some pioneers, they are at 6 strength, which means I don't think they have a city lol. I am considering declaring war and killing their sov just to find out. I have only had the AI declare war when they were quite a bit stronger than me, theoretically. Instead of dealin

Level 12 or so, it depends a lot on the equipment and weapons you find. I could swear in the campaign I found a weapon that had a bonus against dragons but hell, I might be getting confused with something from GW2.

I love the Nexus, yes, there is spamming of idiots leaving negative comments on works in progress or disagreeing with a mods very existence and it can get a little rude. They do ban people though, so there's that :) It's my go to site for checking for mods, though of course, I look in the modding forum here. I did make the odd clothing based mod back in the day, but I haven't modded since Morrowind.

I have never successfully built a pier or logging camp if I did not start right next to a forest or river. I did once, find a 3x3x3 square was cornered by a river and forest, greatest city ever, but it has to be touching the starting town in my games.
Quoting Viperswhip, reply 17Stacks of Doom, not so scary when you can freeze it on the map for 3 turns (I don't think they can resist, I have frozen everything) I've seen an army resist, but it contained a unit immune to magic (a pet cool pretty crystal snake)
Oh did the army resist damage spells as well? That would be a bug. The whole stack shouldn't resist a damage or

Pretty easy to avoid snaking to your outpost unless you put it there to reserve the spot for a later settler. Does it say unusable if you raze the tower and then build a town? I am guess this is to avoid a meta game where you build your city around an outpost so you get really good bonuses applying to city defense.
