What's with the class restrictions on gear? Ever heard of player choice?

I only killed a few armies that came into my territory (Cloud Walk for the win). Anyway, it wasn't a one turn offer peace/surrender thing, I didn't check for a long time, one AI empire had already made peace with me, every other faction was still at war with
Well then it's a stupid mechanic.
If you build the Temple of Forgetting (-100% research) and also cast Set in Stone (+50% Mats, No research) on a City you get negative research. For example, my nearly fully developed Town is getting -5 research. Shouldn't it just produce Zero?
I enjoyed War of Magic for a while at release, so ya, but why can't we just have it as a scenario or whatever. I have all 3 games, and didn't you make Fallen Enchantress a scenario? or are the mechanics too different? I really don't remember. In any case, I still have enough faith in Stardock for one more pre-order (I don't play RTS by the way heh), so make it a good one.
Thanks, I left the surrender threshold at normal but put on Epic pacing for tech, huge world 10 AIs, so you know, the Season has more or less ended now, I don't know how long it lasts, or whatever. Well, the mechanic is screwy then, I have no wish to take over Pariden or the other Kingdoms. I wasn't asking for anything for peace, but say for Tarth, which had a power of 64, versus my I don't know, quite a bit higher, they would accept surrender, but were -532 for Peace. Tha
Okay, I guess I don't mind a crazy season that puts everyone at war (way before anyone had the ability to make alliances by the way). My question is, why will so many factions surrender to me but won't make peace unless I pay them a crap load of money?
I am a big fan of Let's Play videos on Youtube, often because I don't want to play a game as much as watch it, or for something to have on the side (have to love big monitors), whilst I toil away at work. Can any recent, decent let's plays for this game? The nearest I could find started 5 months ago, but the level of play...well, not fantastic. Maybe I should get into the world of PC recording finally, but I don't want to watch my own let's play videos. Maybe I am

The best you can do is turn the tiles into Hill terrain, which will slow down invaders, but not stop them entirely. The only way to create a mountain in the cur
Quoting Viperswhip, reply 4So the raise and lower spells are nice, but my question being does it erase the horses, gold mines or whatever that are right beside where you cast it? No, it only affects the single tile you cast it on. Try it and see BTW, with some more contorted snaking, you can also "enclose" outposts within the borders of a city, if you're so inclined. They're still not incor
I think cities are too easy to take, that's why I use the armor mod, I mean, it does make my cities harder to take but you are already way better at defense than the AI and giving armor to all the AIs makes it a little better. Leather armor makes more sense otherwise you would burn through your metal too quickly making chain/plate for all your troops. There are already ways to make your cities have a good troop, can't you build like a golem or something or is that only in Forts?
What schools do you prefer? I like water, I also found Death 'ok' the 'kill' spell takes too long to get going and dragons resist it about 1/2 the time. Life would be good I suppose, and of course Fire is great all around for aoe killing goodness!
The best damage spell seems to be the mage lightning one with spell bonuses but mostly reduction in mana cost if you can
For pathing, I don't think the game takes into account if you have the scout trait, it will still take you around hills, swamps and forests if that would otherwise be the fastest route. But yes, sadly it seems you have to move your units, that's rarely an issue for me as I mostly just have 2-3 armies running around.
Thanks guys, no it was for regular city expansion, I just like building towards other cities or resources or whatever, and an outpost does not continue a city. If you raze the outpost you get a blank tile. I was hesitant to use raise or lower land because I don't know what it does to the resources close to the spell location. The situation I was working with was one tile of swamp between me and my horsies, so I built and outpost, raised it, and then built two 1 tile buildings to l
I haven't played the game much but am giving it another go. What's the best way to clear swamp land so I can build in those spots? So far I have been using pioneers to build an outpost then raising it or if I have the spell Arcane Monolith to do the same thing. Any tips? I did a fairly brief google search but I guess there is some swamp based wildland that ate up all the results. Thanks.
I like this, it helps offset the -25% penalty.
I could if I really enjoyed this game, but I don't yet.
Well, I will just admit that Diablo 2 is my favourite game of all time, I still play it a lot at every ladder reset. In my most recent game I found what I must assume is every piece of the Assassin armour set, and I would think it would be fun if in the next item pack or expansion you introduced bonuses a la Dragon Age Origins (meaning, nothing too super, just small bonuses), to wearing a set of armour.
Well, the closest is Tarth, just pretend they have pointy ears.
As regards equipment. Buy the quest pack, shudder as you look at how many quests you have yet to do. Defeat quest level mobs and do quests, lots of gear to be found. The AI will steal quests, get them started even if you don't finish them as a denial strategy. You don't have to separate your champs, just do quests and clear mobs. If you want to level your Sov faster though, have them off on their own and leave your heroes at home. There is no penalty for grouping them they jus
I only play large maps, I presumed we just got more wildlands, not bigger, just more. There are a good 6 or 7 wild areas on my latest map, there can't possibly be that many on smaller maps, so what's the issue here? I do agree I want them to be more aggressive.
I think the big problem is that the AI mobs no longer attack cities, at least not with regularity, they do occasionally attack resources. They used to wander in from all over the map and take out my cities in FE. What's one feature the AI does but human don't (it's why we win)? Keep garrisons in the cities. I know in one FE game 3 demons sacked my 3rd city and I couldn't get anyone back there in time to help. The AI meanwhile garrisons troops that could handle that sit
I don't see the problem with Tame as is. This is not a multiplayer game is it? So, there is an easy mode, for people who want to play that way, followed by a custom sov, then down the list of premades. I haven't played them all, but I am sure there are a few weak ones in there. It was kind of like that in Gal Civ, but a little less pronounced. In the hands of a decent player who could tailor their playstyle to the race being used, there were one or two races that could run awa
It's not necessary at all. The game I use as a basis for comparison is actually, Conquest of the New World Deluxe Edition, but there was more commerce in that game, so the extra resources were useful. The resources work well here as they are. I know Civ has more but it spans human progress so it works in that situation, but I don't want oil or aluminum here. Stone and wood, as others have mentioned, are already in the game, so is water, but wood and water don't get a speci
