Good luck, I love the books and thank you for giving this a try. I think Elemental will do the books some justice but you will probably have to limit magic to the fire book and add some kind of partial resurrection spell, maybe where the target loses intelligence or essence or something.

Wow. Look at the real world, large amounts of space with no major resources, and frankly with all the adventure techs there's almost too many. I recently founded a city that had 8 shards, 2 lost libraries and a temple in it's boundries. There is an earth spell called lower land that will take care of mountains for you. It only costs a couple mana to cast. I like the mountains, they are choke points, and again, well, depending where you live, mountains block off lots of space (I am fro

This happens in every game of every genre when their is a patch that changes balance or nerfs certain styles of play. Gal Civ 2 has had several expansions and tons of patches and is bar none the best space strategy game in existence. After patches and expansions changes to play style were necessary and you likely didn't account for that, you were basically playing a whole new game. The other game I am most familiar with where this has happened a lot is Diablo 2. Some character types j

I am coming to the opinion that certain tiles are reserved for a placed city when it is placed, whether it uses them or not. I took over a couple cities that were quite close together and neither of them could build anything in between them, suggesting overlapping areas of control and reserved tiles.

I just turn my heroes into generals, a couple squads of up to date melee soldiers and 10 heroes or so killing mobs on the map, easy leveling even for the super wimpy heroes. The ones I hate are the guys with 18 or more STR or INT and a city benefit as their only talent.

Well, that's not totally true, you can use wargs, but I wasn't able to build any of the empire's other units. I like to put my warriors on wargs and archers and mages on horses.

Also, keep in mind, soldiers work for you no matter what equipment you give them, they don't demand higher wages because you give them better gear, in real life, they are just bloody thankful. And in the days when gold was currency, a couple of gold was a ton of money.

Yes, I use auto combat in mage hero stacks with generic fighter support. The spells don't frigging miss 2 out of 3 times and do great damage. I have done several hundred damage in auto combat so the shards are working there, in tactical magic is just plain broken. I had 30 int when I finished my last game and would still constantly "miss" level 1-3 creatures and roll pathetic damages nowhere near my int. Why is there no magic resistance or elemental resistances? A guy in plate armor should ta

Well, I self impose rules, 2 rings, 1 amulet, it's not that complicated. I also don't use the teleport spell at all, ever. If you feel it is OPed then don't use it, pretty simple. The AI does attack, if you look at it, but the con spawn is so frequent the AIs armies get waylaid on their way to attack you, I've watched it happen dozens of times. Those stacks of shrills or a few dragons and the like make short work of the stacks the AI tends to put together.

When you click on the activities tab of any hero in your your employ (at least this is how I've done it) there is a gold ring called propose button. Do that, and before too long you will be having kids.

Ya, it's annoying to have to separate them from the group just to do this. It does still do something but it seems to randomly target which hero gets it, and also, you can imbue the same one over and over just giving them more of your essence.

Well, I love the game, it's what I've come to expect from Stardock. I know the game will get better with time, that's why I haven't regretted buying it even when playing the pre-release version. I can say this, at least it starts up quickly heh. If you don't have faith the game will improve and become an all inclusive masterpiece then you haven't played Gal Civ 2 up to the last patch. A couple things though, other than the obvious bugs. I get that cons can spawn in foggy areas but wow

I have yet to hit any creature with mind blast. It is a complete waste of two mana. It does not matter what the level or defence of the enemy is and does not seem to be tied to intelligence. Is this a bug? I have 30 int and I miss everything with it.

I thought killing the dragon was chapter 7. After that you get a text box and a little video, and then back to main menu. I can't remember though, is chp 5 when you are following the footprints?

I love KoToR, but no GalCiv? Really? It is the only space strategy game you will ever need to play. I've never played any of the other games on the list though. Guild Wars I play like a single player game, and I like it, so whatever. I loathe MMOs but may have to give SWtoR a go. I think Elemental will be the game that caps off all the great fantasy strategy series, HoMM, Age of Wonders and the like, much like GalCiv has done to the space genre.
