Impulse was the first place I checked for games because I wanted to support Stardock...

At release C- Now...C+ I think.
If someone could update all the TSR goldbox games and the infinity engine games to some nice graphics with updated mod content that would be pleasant. It's not super necessary. I still play them but maybe you would catch a couple of the kiddies and give some new life to the disappearing intelligent game market. I love Paradox games and I love Gal Civ, and I want to love Elemental. I don't RTS but Sins is supposed to be pretty great. I don't think the middle is dead
I've been seeing games lately that REQUIRE DX10 or 11. Why can't we start having games that require a 64bit OS? That would alleviate the memory problems for games that are poorly coded. It's true that many games take big shortcuts these days, but they did in the past as well. However, I blame high speed internet. Games release buggy knowing they can patch them. As we are well aware they often underestimate the difficulty fixing the bugs. I think the last game I played th
Should it not first check for children of age to take over the kingdom?
What happened to all the tooltips? I don't know what the different races do and whatnot anymore, I haven't played this game since 1.06. Also, there is a 6.85 MB update listed on Impulse that I can't download for some reason; it always says filed downloaded was too small or something like that. The game crashed when I alt tabbed to check on these issues. I still have faith, but I guess I will wait to see what the finished products brings.
I don't recommend it to anyone yet, but if you buy it by the end of today I think you get a couple free expansions when they come out. So... I do have tremendous faith in the crew at Stardock, so you might buy it and just wait for 1.1 or whatever before actually playing it.
Begin using the campaign for the first time through. It's basically set up as a tutorial. The traits are something you will have to experiment with. I know that new players to any game or the genre in general have a play style that works best for them. To advance to multiplayer or higher difficulties will depend on your ability to vary your playstyle to new situations that develop. I don't know if there are any play vids on youtube for elemental but you might look for s
Please make it so your children can also cast imbue champion. They are channelers as well aren't they? Or did that change as well, either that, or make combat oriented heroes way more effective. As it is, only the spellcasters remain useful in late game.
@ Yellowstone_1872 By far the best wife in the early game is Ayen Mitela. I actually look for her. Getting the Dominate ability is superb, and having your kids get it is pretty great as well. The other good trait is Adventurer I think, but to be honest, I am not sure that option is worth it, for some reason I can't wear traveler's boots with anyone with that option as
I admit the tree isn't quite a fun as the one from some other games, but it is pretty good. You can go for buildings, you can go for quests and adventure, you can go for equipment/troop upgrades, or for magic equipment, or for upgrades to your diplomatic status. There's lots of choice there to agonize over. Within each of those subsets there are even more choices so it's not like you don't have consequences to your choices, which is what makes a good tech tree in my opinion.
Have you guys ever strung a bow, like the type a soldier would use? Let's say switching a weapon takes the whole round heh
Nope, pissed me off to start because it would make sense for a champion to be able to switch to a bow or sword, but alas, not possible.
Well....when did the last patch come out for Gal Civ 2? Not very long ago and there is no indication that it will never be patched again. My guess is the updates will stop when the game is the best it can possibly be. Gal Civ 2 is why I love Stardock and have faith this game will end up in a similar state of near perfection. Paid add-ons bring change and great big updates, and are part of the overall game. I don't think Stardock will ever stop and say well, you didn't buy the expansio
Non-aggression pacts should NOT allow another kingdom to waltz through your territory and set up a new city in between your other cities. Canada has a pretty close relationship with the US but we don't want you waltzing up north (where few people live because it's so cold heh) and setting up shop, that's just not the way it works. Non-aggression pacts should have big consequences if you break them, but shouldn't allow other kingdoms troops to cross your cultural boundary. Also, countr
Could we please be able to pick who leads a particular stack? I have a kid with organization but since she is new that ability can't even be used because she is never leader. Also, often a warrior or even troops "outrank" a mage or every hero in the army and that affects the ability to use teleport or get goodie huts.
Yep, no guilder and no exp as far as I can tell either. I was a little surprised the first time I cast it.
I've been in the red but only when by accident I recruited a stack of heroes instead of just the one I was trying for.
They are high level spells 8 and up or something like that...keep upping your spell level.
Drop STR to 5 leave DEX at 10, I up CHR to 14. CON to 15, WIS and INT to 15, pick the two disadvantages that occur when you are in a city, since you will never be in one anyway. After that...well Adventurer helps you out in early game, but you can't wear traveler boots so it's a bit of a wash once you research a little bit. Organized is hugely important, having it will give your kids a chance to spawn with it, which is gigantic since they put your sovereign to shame quite easily. I would up e
Every single one of my kids regens man in combat. I often get into fights with them and extend them beyond all reason just to recover my mana.
Offense is best in the Air and Fire Trees while earth has a very useful lower land spell that removes mountains as barriers to city placement or exploration, but not much else frankly. Water just plain blows. Enchantment costs 5 points but you get that book on your second or third magic level up, so skip it. Enchantment provides great defense spells (confusion ftw).
All our kids are channelers, so why can't they cast imbue champion? It means that after a certain point all these excellent heroes you find are useless, because unless you put every single tome on Rialis or someone like that the melee guys become...well, fragile; and the 18 Int heroes are useless because I can't spare any more essence to imbue them with my sov.
In auto-combat, both the one you select and the one that appears to happen somewhat randomly without giving you the choice is pooched on several levels. Now, we all know shards do diddly to your offensive spells (they work on heal) in tactical combat, but work fine in auto-combat, so I often use that if the circumstances warrant it and my mage has sufficient mojo to deal with a single mob. However, there are several issues. 1) It doesn't appear to take range into consideration
Moving an installed program pooches your registry as well...why would you want to do it? You should uninstall the game and reinstall it if you want to move it. I never install anything in program files or on my C drive at all. That comes from years of experience with Win 95-98 and constant re-installs of the OS. When I installed the game it asked me where it wanted to go, maybe that's a setting in Impulse because I never install to default locations.
