Is that "unannounced project" going to be GalCiv3?
Or perhaps Stardock is going to make it's own non space Civilization game? That would be awesome indeed!

Me want Elemental mp so very much... I love long, long, long tbs mp sessions on the internett and with my friends! :P
These news are just so bloody great! They are adressing the things I want the most. A greater feel to adventuring, and a more diverse world. Also a world that's not being urbanized in 1-2-3 by city spam all over the place, but a world that remains wild and exciting throughout the game. Clever thinking Stardock lads! :)
Welcome Jon, and congrats to the Frog and Stardock for this great catch! Now, will Stardock make a Civilization (not in space) game? Digging much deeper into every age, and much deeper and longer in general? That would be awesome. We need more competition after the Call to Power days, and the Stardock fans would love such a game!!!! :D
I don't understand why people are so down of Shafer. Didn't he take that turkey Johnson created with Civ4 and improve it with the extensions? Civ4 vanilla was nothing but garbage, the only thing that saved this disaster was the later extensions to the game. Having Shafer aboard is a positive thing. Stop being so negative, you whining ninnies.
So very true!
Quoting Lord Xia, reply 52 Why is it too bad? Too bad he clearly has a very good sense of humor? Does everyone on this forum has Aspergers or something? The opinion of many (not necessarily me) is that he 'dumbed down' civ V...and he knows people think that. To post something like that button post is a bit of a kick in the balls to civ fans. He's almost
Great news! Jon Shafer is a brilliant and creative guy. His ideas for the Civilization series (Civ5) was the ones of a genious. Stardock really has a strong team now. Congrats to the Frog! Edit: And me too agrees with WhiteElk alot. Still in all of this I enjoy Civ 5 alot, but of course it could have been even better. Still; gameplay wise the Civ vanilla game is the best in the series so far, in my opinion. Bugs, balance issues, and more features can be added later. A shame Shafe
Nothing is better then grand strategy in multiplayer. I want 15 hours mp-games, no problem, because it's such a great experience playing a game like this with other humans. Have not tried Elemental mp due to the wait for 1.1. A buddy of mine will buy it if it gets decent multiplayer, and then we can have whole weekends dedicated to Elemental. My God will it be grand. The changes looks great, adding more interesting choices and strategy. Hopefully city spam is killed as a result of new
I havent played Elemental for a long time now. The main reason is the city spam. It ruins the atmosphere. A fantasy world must not be crowded with urban life, that's more SimCity for me. So I am eagerly waiting for a good fix on this. We need game mechanics that punishes city spam severly. Not small changes but radical changes needed.
My Hall of Fame of favorite games: Civilization-series, Europa Universalis 2 and 3, Hearts of Iron 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and 4.
Yep! I love this game, but what ruins it most for me is the city spamming. I think a fantasy game (even when it's a grand strategy game as well) should not have cities everywhere and tight together as in Civ (or MoM). I want them fewer, and much further apart from eachother. This makes for more wilderness and space for other creatures, adding to the atmosphere you need to really believe you are in a fantasy world. I can easily do with 2-3 cities before having to conquer to get more of th
You make the settlement immune from hostile spells, not your own spells.
Champions are there to be upgraded over time, getting better and better, soldiers are bought to die as cannon fodder. To get champions have to be a long term investment. End of discussion..... ;)
I don't agree with you on the champions. They should be weak in the start, and not a non brain good investment. It's your jobb to make something good out of them, and making sure they are leveling up. It's so easy to win early battles already, so I don't see the prob. With some research investment you can also recruit better champions over time.

I recommend Elemental to all lovers of strategy and RPG. The gameplay is fun, you have alot of freedom and choice, and it has a great feel to it. And the best thing is it will grow better and better. I love it already, and haven't been so glad for a new game since Civ3 and Civ4. This is history in the making of good 4x turnbased gaming. I agree there is some balancing needed, especielly I find it annoying that it is to easy to found new cities, and they are spammed out covering to muc
I guess it is your reputation, not skill level. The same used when finding a bride that thinks you're good enough for her? Anyways, think it's increased by solving quests, and perhaps winning battles helps as well. Not quite sure.
Hehe, that was very easy to read.... lol.
European time? It's 21:36 in Norway now, soon bedtime.... ;)
It will be released next week. Use the time to practise for the mp games. :)
Many good points here. Hope the 0-day patch deals with such things as building costs, settling city costs and growth rate. The game is too easy right now, and the city spam ruins the fine atmosphere you have in the early game. That said, what a great game this is going to be. The core of the game is fantastic, we just need a few tweaks.
I'd love to have pirates (and sea monsters) in the game. Perhaps in the next expansion...... :D
Ok, I'm confused now. Why do you think you need resources to expand? I keep expanding everywhere, whether there are resources there or not. It allows me to build more workshops, merchants and the like, which are simply free resources, and eventually my cities grow and I can use them to train soldiers.
Something must be done with city spam. It's the best strategy, and the most boring strategy.... that doesent combine
Thx for the replys guys. I do think that settlements should cost as they did in the beta. Its just more fun that way, and i hate the idea of pumping out pioneers to massproduce cities.
I agree indeed. I love this game, but the city spamming I can't stand. Cities all over the place is not fun. It gives to much micromanagement, and it ruins the atmosphere of the map, a fantasygame needs alot of wilderness
