Based on past experiance... Kryo, essentially, will run through the threads and note any discussions and comments of worth, and sum them up in a running summary thread. Ocassionaly this thread will get truncated, because otherwise his enourmouse, overgrown OP causes the forums to break. Lets say that thread XYZ has a useful post "Bla bla de-blah, bla bla". Kyro will note it in his own thread with &lt
Yeah, we'll add a beta reports category when the time comes.
Huzzah! Kryo- how do you keep track of all of this stuff? You moderate tons of forums and act as a personal, filtering bug reporting system. Whew! I think it would be pretty sweet if we could submit bugs into an official system. Why? There's a lot of back-and-forth communication that goes on with just a regular bulletin board. For

Will there be a specific forum just for bug report posting? (not that some people won't post non-bug reports in there, anyway, but still...)
The religion mechanic in Civ4 is really lame. If they can't come up with a better mechanic than having silly expanding borders that wrap around a city and then take centuries to flip it, don't bother with religion.
Agreed. It was nothing more than an excuse for a game mechanic. Now, as a game mechanic I don't think it was horrible, but as an actual implementation of religion in a game I wasn't particularly convinced.&nbsp

It sounds like it will be delayed. Whenever I've seen a SD post on "we're think of delaying to make the game better and here's why" it happens. I'm not suprised, nor do I think this is a bad thing. I've learned that SD release dates are very much a perfect world scenario and we don't live in a perfect world. I'd still love to see more concrete goals of the Alpha/Beta testing conveyed, although the list in the OP are a great start. I also suggested similar sorts

My guess is for alpha they will send out emails that will have all the details of what info they want.
I assume this as well. Thinking about this and discussing it for even the Beta 0 release would be good, though. There will be a TON of feedback, so I jus

I didn't like it- while I'm all for strategy, the high learning curve put me off. It also thrust you into a game world with a bazillion options right from the start, and I like to ease my way into a new strategy game. Also, I'm not a huge historical fan, so that didn't appeal as much to me. Too bad I can't resell my copy... :(

We're more likely to follow the Galactic Civilizations path of things where each expansion acts as a chapter to the story and also adds a ton of new features and such.
Will there be any plans to provide content or art packs? I could see that being worth some money just to have more options to include when creating units, customizing my sovereign, or to view

Questions: *Could you provide any more information about the various factions or races? Which ones will be playable in the alpha and/or Beta 0? *Could you expand upon the diplomacy system? How similar will it be to other games? How large of a role will it play? *Could you give some targets of what a "typical" game might look like. For instance: -How long should a "standard" game take to play? -How many cities would a player expec
Will thte Epic generator be included in Elemental??? I die a little every time people bring up the E.G. No, the Epic Generator will not be in Elemental, but we'll definatly have some robust event logging to help AAR writers do their thing. I believe that's July some time. Now, whether Impulse Phase 4 has been pushed back because of Demigod, too, remains to be seen...

~13 people- that's a nice size. Enough to have multiple people working on specific areas. I hope the dinner was good. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in that restaurant when you all went there!

Thanks for the updated plan. Bummer things will be so selective, but I completely understand and will hope my purchases and help might get me in the door. How long until Beta 0 do you think? And will those in the Alpha group have to sign an NDA, or can they share their impressions freely?

I didn't realize this until later, but there's a Camp #4 that was updated as part of that post. I don't have the time to fully analyze it in compairson with what's described above, but perhaps they're similar or a mix of different ideas?

FYI- the link above is missing the l for "elemental", as right now it points to "elementa". I don't like the new cloud- I didn't see the word bear in there anywhere! FYI- I believe it's only taking the info that would be present in an RSS feed, so replies don't count, just post titles and perhaps some info in the descriptions.

I'm happy with Option #3, with a few caveats: 1. Not requiring units to upgrade to take advantage of new research has some pretty serious strategic impacts. If I have a unit across the world, why should my research into Short Sword +1 automatically upgrade them? You may be able to "rush" research right before a major battle to gain the bonus benefits. I'd suggest looking at only auto upgrading units as they are inside your realm of control. If they're out

Another larger point to consider- what's the lure of having caravans at all? From my understanding: *They allow resources to be attacked/captured *It could add a visual element to identify why/how resources take so long to transfer from one location to another Anything else I'm missing here? It seems like the caravans, while adding the benefits above, also introduce a LOT of additional complexity that could be added behind the scenes. Here are the

If I had to choose between the two options, I'd vote Option #2. Here's why: *I'm playing a fantasy strategy game where resource management is but ONE aspect of the game. I'd also like to devote time in varying degrees to combat, unit creation/placement, research, diplomacy, and general strategy. *Option #1, while conceptually is really cool and would be genre-defining, seems to be one of the bad aspects of GalCiv 2 (no more sliders, please!) *Option #1 also

Considering Brad's still tied up in Demigod-land, I'll attempt to answer some of these for him (expanding on what Landisaurus said): 1. No. BoogieBac will. 2. I believe around 10. That doesn't include temporary or outside contractors. 3. Lots of ways. Read the dev journals. Some topics I can think of: a sophisticated economy system, created for modding, allowing for player-created content and sharing, sophisticated multiplayer includ

Normally, I'd say the chances are zero, and I think at this point in the game that may be the case. But ever since Brad returned from the Game Developers Conference, he realized that getting your game out to as many platforms as possible is a really good thing. Now, this is likely more a case of PC vs. game consoles, but perhaps that could include OS X. But Stardock wouldn't likely be the ones to do that since they have little expertise with OS X. It'd have to be farme

You still need to pay for shipping, though, although I suppose you could choose SuperSaver if you don't mind waiting a few weeks.

I bet the event log would also be useful for trouble-shooting, too. If games were crashing, you could consult the event log to see if somehow the event triggered the crash.
