I love all of the various options in the Menu options screen, but there's not much organization/grouping currently, just a list of lots and lots of choices to toggle. Some suggestions on improving it: *Remove unnecessary descriptors, like Enable, Show, Use, etc. The checkbox implies this already and there would be much less text to have to wade through. *Put al

Scott, congrats on the new kido. Kids are a blessing, but those new ones can sure suck out your energy! Hopefully you can do some work from home so getting out of the home isn't such a big deal and you can be around to help with diapers, bath time, etc. On the update front, I have every confidence you guys will make some great strides to improve on the good foundation already laid. One thought- if you have some ideas you're tossing around, throw them out to the commu
Simply unbelievable if that didn't get fixed in this update.
Right now they need to focus on stability and addressing gameplay holes. Not that this isn't an issue, but it will get addressed soon. SD's very good about patching up their games quickly when known issues arise.

Brad- Your picture you posted doesn't appear. It seems like www.draginol.com is showing as exceeding the bandwidth quota. That's the first time I've ever seen that in your many years of posting, although not surprising given how much your images are likely viewed!

One other idea I'll throw out: How many of you remember Age of Mythology? It introduced the concept of leveling up your empire and making a choice between one of two Gods (depending on your race). Could Elemental have something like this? I'm not sure if it would be based on time, production, research, etc. or maybe even vary from race to race. But the value in this is that you aren't locked into one specific strategy for the game (unlike its predecessor Age of

I think by the end of GalCiv 2 (ToA) that the individual races finally had enough character with their own tech trees that they started to show their personality. Before then, though, it was selecting a race for the bonuses or customizing your own that was the real driving factor. I'd love to see some very deep history surrounding the different races/factions that would make me really want to play as them vs. just using their pre-made abilities. Here are some ideas that mi

I had no idea about that poll, either. Could we humbly request to get a notice about an important poll like this in the Developers' Journal? After Z4, I imagine things should be pretty stable. How exciting!

This may not apply exactly, but one of the features Worldwide Soccer Manager (aka Football Manager) implemented in the past few years was bolstering the advice of the assistant coaches. The game had so many options and strategies that having AI help you make choices made the game so much more playable and informative. Now, not all of the advice was good or accurate (it was your job as the manager to determine this), but the advice made the game so much more enjoyable. Advi

Even something as simple as "looking at code x", "fixing the UI", "home sick", or "asking Brad for a raise" would be nice. It doesn't have to be anything too big or earth shattering, but it's nice to know you're alive, Scott! :)

This would be a great way to track regressions or bugs that still exist. If this was done, it'd be really nice if the general Beta forum could house ALL posts, but if you posted in a specific sub-forum you'd only see posts for that forum.

Good to know. I'll have to give it a shot again.
Same here. Odd thing is that i know the CC i preordered with back then is still good. Now, since i want to participate in Phase 1, i just tried to reorder, which failed too. It didn't even let me place the order at all. Emailed sales@stardock and hope this gets resolved quickly, but the autoreply implies no Beta for me this week
Oooh. Maybe my credit card wasn't wrong, then. That's no good if you couldn't even pre-order nor

Reply to IRC? in WOM BETA Builds

I tried using the built-in IRC client in Impulse, but whenever I typed something, it was always trying to interpret it as a command. So, I installed Pidgin instead. Was I just doing something wrong?

At least I'm not the only one. I've tried IRC, but need to wait until tomorrow. At least The Office is back on tonight!

Apparently my e-mail did go through since I did get a response (hopefully future reponses will also get through). At the worst, I'll place a pre-order tomorrow, since I assume as soon as you place the pre-order you'll have access via Impulse, correct? (I've been waiting to check out Elemental for well over a year, only to be foiled by an old credit card #- grrrrr!) Also, I got this in the response: NOTICE: We are currently experiencing a delay in our normal respo

Did anyone else have their credit card charge fail? I imagine mine failed since it's likely my card changed from over a year ago when I initially placed the pre-order. Here's the problem, though- I used a 10% off coupon given to loyal Stardock customers. I'd be happy to place another order, but would like to still use that coupon. I e-mailed [email protected], but I'm not sure if it went through since we're having email server problems. Help! I want to p

These replies are sweet. Brad/Boogie- based on the creatively awesome responses here, could we have a caption contest or two during the beta? I could see that being awesome. Or, have a contest where you guys type up something and we provide the screenshots from the game? This was great. Once the beta is released it'll make my day even better!
Quoting mrakomo, reply 46I will try Alt-Tab too. And dual-screen. Many games go fullscreen but when I hit the edge it goes to the next screen instead of scrolling. Quite annoying
Good point, piderman. [e digicons]k1[/e] I'm not sure if Elemental will support it, but being able to run it in Windowed mode and even being dual monitor-friendly would be great. I'd love to be able to take parts of the UI

That's a great breakdown of objectives. I hope adding in pieces at a time aren't terribly difficult to do, but if it's done modularly (and potentially with modding in mind), that shouldn't be too painful. Looking at this schedule, I'd be amazed if the game arrived before Fall of 2010. Having lots and lots of builds with a large pool of people, and still staying on pace would be impressive. If each sub-milestone took 1 week, that'd be about 25 weeks to complete, and t
As for the build we still have 1/2 of our 'to-do for beta' list to go, so I wouldn't expect any news today or tomorrow.
Thanks for jumping in here, Scott! Today seemed a bit too soon after PAX to have a release. If you could get it done before the weekend, that would be sweet, though. Get feeling better. I hope it's not H1N1!

The card concept is nice since it simplifies things, but I don't want Elemental to turn into MTG!

Really? Why do you say it's today? I haven't seen anything that says it's today. There were allusions to it arriving prior to the 22nd and possibly this week, but was this said somewhere I missed?
