Quoting Vladesch, reply 22 I just started a third game, and it put me a couple of squares away from a fertile ground. Also about 5 squares away were a fruit grove, a metal deposit and a clay pit. Then about 12 squares away there was another clump of resources, namely an old growth forest, a beehive, an oasis and an ogre village, and Ive just founded a second city there. Im using the fer
Quoting Annatar11, reply 10 That's true, but it's still too much of a variable. May not be a big issue in single player, but in multiplayer it would probably suck a lot more when your opponent gets a sweet spot random start and you get jipped. "Preset" starting areas don't have to be big, just a 3x3 or 4x4 stamp that has a fertile land somewhere in it and keeps things nice and balanced.
Quoting Tormy-, reply 272 Raven, have you played with Dominions 3? If yes, what is your opinion about SCs [super combatants] in the game? Basically SCs are super-powered champs. I had no problems with SCs in Doms 3. It was a valid tactic to create & use them. They were capable of destroying whole armies alone, but they were not unbeatable, IE. the game itself was not imbalanced because of the SCs. <b

No CTDs or lock-ups so far. However lot of stuff must be polished. I've spotted some Gfx related glitches already + the balance is weird.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 3 We have to do a lot with a little. The mod tools really make it apparent and help show why the game is basically done even right in beta 3 even though that'll only be obvious with the hindsight of the mod tools. On a side note, the Modding Tools are my Second Motivation for having bought Elemental , because I know Stardock LOVES to let it's players Mod the
Quoting Tridus, reply 262 We must not play games with the same people. People do not fun things in games ALL THE TIME, because they're effective. The broken hero is so imbalanced that on a level where you're drastically outgunned army and production wise, on hard it might be the only way to win. So people will do it. When you're playing to win, you don't sit back and go "well I could do this and win, o

In fact, if these 2 Swedes would make an Elemental mod with their Dom3 content and mechanisms, and sell it for 50$, I would buy it right now!
Indeed. Gameplay & Diversity >>>>>>> Gfx. :) The only problem with Doms3 is the AI, but it's

That is far from being an "epic battle". Oh well, if we can change the cap from 20 -> 100 for example via modding...well, I am not really worried in that case. Agreed. 400 vs 400 doesn't sound like it would feel that "Epic" to me. As long as we can Mod that
Quoting Saije, reply 17 Your magic could definitely use some magic... A little creativity would be nice with the spells, I'd rather have spells that allow subtle control over the flow of battle then 15 different ways to do direct damage. The strategic spells arn't bad, but your tactical spells need serious inspiration. Spells shouldn't just be "Hey, I'm gonna blast that guy with Ice... Nah Fire... Wait Darkn

The largest sized group (for now) is going to be around 20 units. There was too much difficulty scaling/balancing a scenario where a single unit can range from 1 person to 1000 people. It just wasn't fun. This has me curious now. So, are you say
Yes, we need something like Barbarians in Civ games.
Yep, I liked the concept of "barbarians" in the Civ games. Perhaps not all of the monsters should attack the cities, only some specific creatures. Ex.: humanoids.

It should be 100 or 50 at least.... If it will be 20, can we change this number via modding, or is it hardcoded? 20 units x 1,000 soldiers/unit = 20,000 soldiers 20 legions are quite cool to me. We're not hard coding battles to a time limit (it's turn based, you could go to bed and come back the next morning). That doesn't mean late game battles won't be more epic but what % of your game is spent in late game climatic battles versus the typical skirmish of a dozen vs. a dozen?
Hehe. :) Late
