"I realise of course that your resources aren't limited" .. heehee This thread is essentially just saying "more of everything". Who could disagree. But as we know, the resources indeed are limited. Every resource is being used, and the result has as much substance as is possible. That's what I believe. And is all I can and want to ask from SD.

Since this is the consensus, I would guess that FE will destroy any demand for WoM.
I guess I'm in the minority. Just thought I could do just fine with simplified, Civ-style combat in WoM and just have focus on the empire building and spellcasting more than tactical battles.
Nodoby knows for certain when the beta will start. Not even Brad or Derek. So how close you are is really just up to chance.
Since WoM seems to have a lot of different features that need a lot more love still, why not get rid of tactical combat in that game altogether? This would have a lot of different benefits. The change would - make WoM considerably more different to FE, further serving the purpose of appealing to different appetites. - free up resources to focus more on other parts of the game that need imrpovement - get rid of the problem of working two different tactical combat system
I don't remember where I read it (thought it was in the interview of Paxton by RPS but couldn't find the quote), but it's been confirmed that water gameplay won't be in Fallen Enchantress, at least not from the get go.
Just the one I have a good idea for: Unit starts at 2nd level - Head start
That's good.
Unit Abilities: Trained - Unit starts at 2nd level Monsters: Nature's Dragon - Better name for a Green Dragon Volcanic Dragon - Better name for a Red Dragon Arakranik - Better name for a Giant Black Widow Spider
I wouldn't mind water not being accessible due to some explanation in the storyline. If there isn't enough time to make water gameplay add value to the game, I'm fine with leaving it out.
Especially since dynasties really didn't need that much more to be great. Just basic heritance, really. Anything more would be gravy.
I completely disagree. If that was the only thing done to dynasties, they would feel just like the glued on feature they are in WoM.
Dynasties would've needed so much work that I believe this was a good choice. Cool concept, but it's more important to get the whole game right. Maybe dynasties could be included in the Elemental game that comes after FE.
I just want to chime in and say thanks for responding. I really appreciate you letting us know of the situation.
Ouch. Does that mean a killing blow for the Elemental modding community?
The one time I got the first post... it was not meant to be.
That's too bad. I think after seeing the major graphical improvements in FE, I doubt I'll be interested in playing around with WoM, even if it is patched up to be more interesting than before. I hope the mod assets made for WoM will at least be portable to FE, since FE basically only has better graphics options with the newer pixel shader?
On the contrary, I'm loving it. I didn't expect the game to get that big of an facelift back when FE was announced. I thought it'd mostly be about gameplay changes. Can't wait for the beta. I have one question though: Will WoM get a facelift when FE gets released too? For example the more distinct forest tiles shown in the video would improve the playability of WoM considerably. I hate how I can't clearly see where the edge of a forest is in normal view.
First! Yes! Awesome! Now I can finally die happy. You know I'm starting to get really hyped for FE. I'm a bit afraid I'm getting overhyped here, as I still know so very little about the actual game.
And since WOM failed so miserably, does that mean that FE will have a nice discount for owners of wom?
This has been answered quite a lot of times. Here's all the price-related info on FE and WoM: If you bought Elemental: War of Magic - before October 31st 2010 :: You get Elemental: Fallen Enchantress and Elemental: for free. - after October 31st 2010 but before Decembe
Heavenfall beat me to it. Stardock has made special deals with regards to publishing their games on Impulse. They would be stupid to not publish the games as Impulse exclusives.
I like the solar flare idea. Still looks a tiny teeny bit soapy to me in take 5because occasionally two "flares" combine into one "soap bubble", but it's nothing too serious. I really like the fact that you're focusing much more on presentation. Here's one more player who would really wish for a more animated UI.
Just wait until you see how they've tightened up the Enchantress.
Stop trolling. Just to make sure no one gets too confused, the three posts above are jokes. Fallen Enchantress will be a LARP game and it will be released as soon as the graphics on level three have been tightened.
I think there seems to be a misconception running amok in these forums. Fallen Enchantress will most definitely still be a fantasy 4X game, even though it is very much different to WoM.
The reason why there's a lot of negativity around is that the Elemental engine still needs a whole lot of polish and it's not working too well on a lot of different systems. It's a huge undertaking and it's proving to be a hell of a challenge for SD to get the engine work well on most rigs. I think it's understandable that players are frustrated when the game runs poorly and/or gives out of memory errors. I still think waiting for 1.3 before playing the game is sti
Couldn't really see anything from the animation in the vid. Maybe give us a proper cutscene teaser soon to better understand what you're talking about? PS. Nice shirt, looking good BoogieBac. Like your style. :)
