I want to chime in to corroborate Gwenio1 and Frogboy even further. I've learned to program by programming. Online documents, google, trial & error. And just always try to figure out a way to make the code more modular and more efficient. When looking back at old code from three years ago, it's pretty cool how much better I've become, even without any formal training.

I think Winter 2012 might mean Q1 2012 on this occasion, because what else would you call "this winter but not this year". Could be wrong though.

Will we have Pariden etc in FE? In a recent screenshot you've got the Kingdom of Tarth in there. Isn't it strange to have the same players in town if we're in a very different place in the world. Especially considering this quote from Brad: " It takes place on the eastern continent and revolves around a very different set of circumstances. The Kingdoms of the West's philosophy was gain control of strategic resources and overwhelm the enemy through superior ma

Thank you for the welcome. This is exciting, things are happening! I hope you're not getting into trouble with the PR hounds by giving us info. I can see Brad sneaking around the office trying to post a few informative posts without them seeing.

The AI is blatantly underdeveloped in WoM, which is known by the developers and FE will not be handled the same way, and FE is developed in a completely different manner to WoM. That's why you shouldn't use WoM to compare AI in FE and AoW. Do you really disagree with this? It seems like you read my post completely out of context, Bellack.

Tridus, WoM is a mess. You shouldn't use it to compare FE and AoW. That's what I was trying to say. FE is being developed completely differently compared to WoM. They don't compare.

I think the goal for the AI in FE will be in a completely different league than that of AoW's. I for one am glad tactical combat will be limited to features that the AI can properly handle.

Funny how these conversations never lead anywhere. After the comment "hyperbole much?" the response gave a link to a news article telling about an interesting story about chinese prisoners forced to play games. The response, instead of learning from this, the response from the original poster was to ignore and move on defending his cause. Why do you guys bother? Discuss things instead of arguing. Learn, talk, comment, teach. Eventually it'll pay off.

Austinvn, actually if you look into game sequels, even a lot of the really good sequels are built heavily on top of their prequels.

Yes it's essentially WoM2, with a *lot* of differences to WoM. They will support WoM to some point, probably version 1.4 or 1.5 and then stop (this is just my educated guess). I'm in the same situation you are. And I am waiting for FE not playing WoM.

Frogboy said recently (after the release of 1.3) that he wants to get 1.4 done before the FE beta begins. That's the most we know, but it seems likely that they are working on 1.4 still.

I don't have that much time to play games nowdays, so I no longer care that much about multi player. Scheduling time to play games with my friends is too much work. I like the single player "competitions" that the Civilization games have over at CivFanatics, that's kind of a multiplayer mode that I can play whenever I want. I used to be the exact opposite some years ago though.

Cruxador, the first version of FE we'll get our hands on will be considerably more polished than what WoM was on release last August. Other than that there's no concrete info or dates given by anyone.

I want to start this post by pointing out to you how the post I quoted said "if they cant fix elemental:wom, how could they do any better on FE", and how that is completely against your views. Actually we disagree with very little. :) I agree with the point that Brad is desperate to make EWoM playable. It's understandable though, the failure of the game must be really tough on him. It's essentially his first flop designing games. I too hope that he would completely mov
if they cant fix elemental:wom, how could they do any better on FE
I hate this kind of defeatist attitude. Defeatism never leads to success. One reason people like Brad make it big is that they don't quit after the first setback.

Nero, I never said that their reputation hasn't taken a hit. We're on the same page. And I think it's pretty clear to everyone, incuding them that they can't release another game like they did with WoM. I don't think that's going to happen. Let's wait and see.
