surely having Taverns, Brothels, and other such things will increase your chance of gaining the attention of mercenaries. Whereas a Tavern or Inn would attract individual adventurers, Large Beer-halls and Brothels would be more likely to attract a whole company of Mercenaries.
Good ideas here. Thanks

I have read a bit about Blood Bowl and it has some interesting pros and cons Pros: Evolve players over time Play in a leauge Turn based strategy Cool consept and graphics Cons: It has player roles like thrower and stuff that I have no idea about (I have never watched a minute of American Football except what I have seen in films or tv shows). I am a football/soccerfan and therefore I am familiar with stuff l
I ran ZA and had no problems. If it doesn't pop up on top of the current program just use Windows key -> L -> enter or Windows key + L to get to the login screen, log back in, and then it should definitely be on top as you should be viewing your desktop. Or before you start a new version of Elemental you could right click ZA in the taskbar and bring up the "Game mode" option and select to allow all notices, then turn it off after pl
hmm.. Its an interesting thought that all players will see the same mercenaries in their "mercenary building". Then if the building suddenly is empty, you that someone will feel some heat soon. And there is competition in who will hire. Some times you would hire them only to make sure that noone else does :)
I have followed many "free" games, but they are slow to develop and only a select few get to a "finished" state. The only one I can think of that I have played in recent years is Battle for Wesnoth. I am following UFO: Alien Invasion, but I havnt actually tried it yet.
quoting postIt seems people everywhere are talking about it. In the last couple of days I have seen quite a few reviews come out, and the consensus seems to be that it’s a winner. It is not a winner... Again, Stardock/Impulse use his "racist" distribution scheme who exclude almost all the world to enjoy these game... It is the same system that with sins, where European have need to wait months for a release... but now, it is
If it could be made streamlined I like it. I would much rather sink my teeth into this then a complicated who shall marry who system that I am afraid they are implementing.
I think the lineage system in Elemental is planned to be a system that will influence who the loosers will capitulate to. If you are the big bad Raven x wolf that is exterminating your neighbours, then they could start to capitulate to the nice Brian empire who has good relations with everyone. If this is gamebreaking or not is dependant on the settings of the game. How small will the kingdoms be before they surrender? If they give their last city and a few remaining units, it is no p
I remember that I wanted this functionality in Heroes V, but it was not to be. So here is my suggestion for Elemental. I would like the possibility to hire mercenaries to bother my enemies so that I would not have to go to full war every time I wish to punish someone. Mercenaries would act like other roaming monsters only that they would target a set kingdom. This could be a random event (a group of mercenaries offer their services) or a more standard functionality if you build
I got this too. Very annoying!
Its way too early to expect being able to preorder in shops. I would guesstimate a release late next year. Patience young gamer...
Added to my lotus notes client. Thanks.
You seem to have a tast that is pretty similar to mine as I have played most of these, and I play single playser. Battle for Wesnoth - a good game - its installed on my laptop Galactic civilizations (+ expansions) - its on my laptop, I just can not get hooked for some reason Sins of a solar empire - see GalCIV Demigod - not my cup of tea Supreme commander - GREAT GAME Red alert 3 - not my cup of tea Universe at war - havnt tried <br /
If I find a used version of Blood Bowl or get if cheaply somewhere online, I might give it a try sometime. I used to love Speedball way back when I was young. But you have to promise me that I dont have to know ANYTHING about American Football (I hardly know what a touchdown is).
Take a look at Blood Bowl. Been playing since release and I'm more addicted now than ever. My advice, read the table top game rule book, play a few games then get yourself in one of the player organised leagues such as Orca Cola Championship and you will have a blast. Forget the real time game they included with it, totally pointless, go straight to turn based.
I took a look at it and I dont think its my cup of tea
A little update here. I bought Etherlords II on impulse, and although its old its still a little gem. The battles are hard and varied. I have played one campaign and just started on the second one. A recommended buy from me. On my watch list: Elemental (obviously) King Arthur (Total war series with fantasy creatures - count me in) Dawn of Fantasy (interesting - but will it ever finish?) Disciples III (anyone know anything about release da
Sounds like you didnt give CIV IV enough time to grow upon you. I consider CIV IV to be the best strategy game ever made (Master of Orion II and Total Annihilation in joint second). Edit: The attacker actually has the advantage in city battles due to catapults. Check them out if you ever play again. I play marathon speed on monarch difficulty and it is a great experience (I usually dont win, but I dont mind)
Very interesting this. Thanks! I like that you are holding off decisions about the battle system, but it makes me a bit nervous too :) You have created a waiting game here :p
You lost me at CivRev being better than CIV IV. This is heresy and blasphemy... I just cant make myself read the rest.. [e digicons]8(|[/e]
@Robbie_Price - where is the fun if the battle is decieded in advance :)
Since I have seen the original, I sorta have a feeling where the series is heading. Still, first episode had most of the story from the whole of the former V series. I guess they have to do that cause building suspense about the V`s for 5 episodes is pointless, as we have seen the premise before. It looks good to me. I have watched the first two episodes.
Yeah, its early days still. Mostly we are discussing concepts and how the game should work. The beta testing is slow at the moment. Just join the discussions and wait for Beta 2. You arnt missing much. Read the fixlist for each version if it makes you feel better. For some reason I love reading fix lists for games :)
25 years or so ago there was only one television channel in Norway (satelite tv was just starting). This tv-channel is financed by taxes and still exist (NRK). They had, and still have childrens tv at 1800 every evening of the week. They made a show for children called Kroppen Vår (Our body). It basically thaught us kids everything and showed everything. The guy leading the show ran about with "sperm cells" which he lost all over the floor before reaching the egg with a final lu
I sounds like you want to know everything about a battle before its played out. I would say that there should be some risk here. This is not chess :) If I know what units I have and what units the opponent have, then that should be enough. The rest is the guesstimation of great leader Joasoze :)
