Here in Norway I can see that the game is about $4 more expencive than for example Dragon Age and Football Manager. Not a lot, but I dont see why it should be slightly more expensive than other new games. Anyways, this is not a game for me. :)

I would like something like this: Scouting level 1 - You get info about general numbers - like small band, hoard, swarm or such Example: Swarm Scouting level 2 - You get level 1 plus a list of what units are in the enemy army Example: Swarm of wolves, wolf cubs and spiders Scouting level 3 - Info as level 1 and 2 plus a list of enemies and how many of each Example: 56 wolves, 67 wolf cubs and 18
goodmorning, one can still calculate a probablisitic number. you can always calculate a probabilty, .
I think we have to agree to disagree :) You cannot always calculate a probability. Many things are too complex to compute. That is why we have chaos theory. Some day a computer will calculate the perfect game of chess that cannot be beaten, but we are not there yet. And chess is in many ways less complic
Until we have options to compare we cannot really assess. On the other hand, I do like the limitation this imposes on the classic strategy of starting as many cities as quickly as you can, that gets tedious.
There are many ways to stop us expanding to fast. Lack of poplulation, cost of bureaucracy, lack of resources to build new cities (stone, wood, gold) or other things.
Yep, I am talking about limiting the starting options. I still trust the frog, so they probably have a plan. It just seem so strange that essence is needed for starting cities, but essence will be very limited in the start.
Since I live in Norway games are presented in NOK (Norwegian kroner), and that is ok by me. BUT if I go into the game catalog there are sorting by Gametype, Price and Availablility. In the Price section it says: $10.00 - $29.00 (which would be 60 - 180 NOK). If I click this link I will not find games in the 60 -180 NOK range, but in the 10 - 29 NOK range. Since most games cost more than 30 nok, all games are sorted in the $30 + range. This is clearly broken. Ano
Ever since I discovered that you spend essence on creating cities and that essence will increase by some yet to be determined factor in the game (level up sovereign, tech or whatnot), I have had a bad feeling about the system. Not quite sure why the system scares me, but it does seem kind of limiting and will make players play alike in the early game. If I have 15 essence and it costs 5 for a city, then I most likely will have 3 cities at the same time as everyone else. Any other spen
I would like to repeat that the calculation of such a percentage is not possible! Far to many variables combined with the crazy choices you as a player will make during the battle. This is not gonna happen in any game of this kind. Take Kings Bounty as an example. It would be nigh impossible to make a sensible number. And that is a turnbased simple combat system. It just cannot be done. There are skills, spells, random events (some skills have a percentage chance to work or not)+++. I
Its just starting, and we dont know much yet. The Frog himself said it would be run public in the forums.
And ofcourse the strength of spells like fireball could be increased by using even more karma.
About that spell editor. Different ingame events (spells, discoveries, research ++) could give karma that you could use in the spell editor. A little cute spell like blessing could be "made" out of 10 karma points. Fireball would take 40 karma points. Then you have to deciede if you save for that expensive fireball, or if you go for a quick fix of bless that would help expansion early game. just a thought! And dont focus on me calling it k

Don't you hate it when you want a bowl of cereal, and you pour it, only to find out that you're out of milk, and you have to try to pour the cereal back in the box, but it spills everywhere?
No, cause I have stopped eating anything based on wheat, rye and other (insert correct word here - I just cannot remember). So no cereal for me. Dont you hate it when a new great game arrives
Excuse my ignorance, but how do I set Elemental to run windowed?
Check out the pen and paper version on this forum. Its will reveal more than the current beta methinks :)
I will wait for reviews from users and websites, and then deciede how much work I will put into getting the game. It does look promesing though!
Are there any news on which other sites than Steam will have this? Other DD outlets is bordering on being sligthly diffuse
Have you checked out the new King Arthur game soon to be released. Check out the post by Ravenx I like these games too, but they are few and far between. Meanwhile I am excited about Kings Bounty Armoured Princess that will be released in 9 days. Kings Bounty is a great game, and this sequel should be good too.
Well, then count me as befuddled :)
This could be tough on balance, but I like it :) I would love to see a battle between a 10 man adventuring party with master spells and skills versus a 2000 man army with pikemen, swordsmen and archers. Commence battle!
I'd vote that you can set caravan distro to be 'automatic' or 'manual' so you can choose if you want them to manage themselves. In a large game (much larger than the tiny map we are given here ) I don't want to deal with managing all my caravans. I figured there would at some point be a supply line feature. Where wagons would have to carry supplies to forts and armies away from the city. At
Go raven :) This game should give us some really interesting insight to the game and how the frog is thinking :)
Do we really know anything about this? The frog seem to keep us in the dark, only giving a few mystic statements :)
if everything is in the open, then someone else could take upon them to run more games based on the experiences from this one.
each square would only need one number, the number of people who have walked over it 'recently' the value dropes each turn *nature reclaiming the path if it's not walked on* if the square exheeds a certain value, and it's neighbour also exceeds that value, a track is made between them, passing between them is faster. really not as hard as you suggest robbie price
Except that he wants to take in
Yes, it is possible to calculate. You might not be able to calculate the odds of a complete tactical battle but you can do 2 things. 1 Calculate the odds and expected damage of individual attack (advance wars does it). 2. When doing battles in strategic battle mode, since you are not doing all the tactical manuvers, it could be possible to caculate the odds since the battle itself is only resolved by calculation.
