Gamespot has given Elemental: Fallen Enchantress a score of 7.5. http://www.gamespot.com/elemental-fallen-enchantress/reviews/fallen-enchantress-review-6400437/ Fallen Enchantress nicely wipes lingering memories of its predecessor from your mind. This is a much better game, a fresher and much-improved take on the same concepts of forging a kingdom and fighting epic bat

Ok, so I skipped the last couple of betas after playing beta 2 extensively in the spring. I have to say the game has come leaps and bounds since then. I just answered the "where are we at?" poll that Brad posted up; my answer was 'good'. There is obviously a bunch of polishing to be done, and I've got a list of things I noticed in the two games I played of Beta 5 (0.98). There is a bit more than polish to bump it up to where I would say it is "excellent" however: First, the

Ah, they're separate now! Ok, that makes more sense. Just didn't get far enough in either to figure that out. On reload the 'Free Rider Compound' has now appeared on the map, so I can proceed with that one. As for the land bridge, hopefully I don't have to do that outside of their borders, or it's going to take awhile. My sovereign has maxed out as an air mage, though I couldn't see anything that would help. What in particular are you suggest

This is my first game since Beta 2, and if I'm just being ignorant please somebody let me know. So, the original (i.e. what I experienced in Beta 2) Quest of Mastery involved the dragon statues, getting the gems, fighting a mercenary army under a guy called Arneson, and then beating multiple dragons and their leader, then - ta da - you've won the game. It appears that most of that quest is still in the Beta 5 game I'm playing - I already got the one dragon ge

Cool. I had no idea. I won with this victory condition, and so spent 10 min levelling up my champs only to find the game had finished. Never got to play with the final item.

Ah, well then, so much for my theory. Either it's not working right or not being displayed right. Maybe the increased damage is only calculated at the time of the hit?

For the most part, you don't. Your sovereign and champs will start with certain spellcasting affinities, according to the different shard types: fire, water, life, death, air, earth. As you level up you will be given the opportunity to upgrade your spellcaster's skill at casting those affinities. Each time you select, for example, a fire magic trait, you'll get access to more fire spells. You can't pick up spells from a school you don't have an affinity for to start with.
I agree with Brad. As much as I throw out ideas and complaints, I would prefer Stardock take all of our ideas with a grain of salt. Simply because as fabulous as I think my ideas are, I think some of your ideas are terrible. But, I also know that from a third party perspective, all our ideas(mine too) are probably only marginally helpful at best, and obnoxiously worthless at worst. But, things to listen to the for

My understanding is that whatever effect it had was cumulative only with consecutive successful attacks in Tactical, and reset at the first miss or after the battle finished (not sure about switching targets). Never had any problem doing massive damage, so I assumed it was working. At any rate, that wouldn't show up on the equip screen.

Blizzard does the same thing. I used autoplay to get out. Does anyone else have problems with Fireball not casting? I have had many experiences with selecting the spell, waiting for the charge to take place, and then the mana is gone but I never get to cast it.

As uncomfortable as early settlements of reconstruction might be in E:FE, they are not the conditions that breed rebellion. Exhaustion, not exalted treason, is the more reasonable result of privation due to circumstance instead of flawed rule.
Agreed. And the more oppressed an exhausted citizenry feels, the less

I was looking for information on things like.....How do I get my Ranged Champions Damage up? How is ranged damage affected by strength, accuracy and dexterity? What differences are there from Accuracy and Dexterity? How do I increase my Magical damage (other than the obvious +50% spell damage perk) what good for exam

Lots and lots of good thought here. I really hope that a great deal of this gets incorporated into development, as I too find that the traits are a key part of a fun experience. One distinction to make is between traits that are mutually exclusive and traits that are not, but are so related to each other that they make for redundant options at any one opportunity to choose. So, for example, I don't particularly have a problem with the Assassin path having multiple t
Gambler's Strike: Double damage unless target resists, in which case it does normal damage to attacker. What determines resistance? Are we hitting ourselves with our own attack? I never choose this ability because it is unclear how often I will take damage from my own attack. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Prereq: Level 3, Path of the Assassin.
I too never choose Gambler'
Useless feedback is when a tester points out something as a problem that is only a problem to the tester because they don't understand the game mechanics. Ex: The game needs cities and roads to be good. There has been quite a bit of this and the only thing it really tells the devs is that the tester did not play the tutorial. It is also useless to develop convoluted solutions to problems in the game. Ex: Magic is too rare, d
I don't know. I have seem walls of useless feedback by people that are either not in the beta or don't understand the core mechanics and what is possible with this game. Let them change the things we asked them to and then give us a polished beta. I think that is fair. Must be dependent on some variable, because in my game today (small map, challenging difficulty) he only cost 350 or so. and no, nothing special to him. he doesn't even have any potential to be a spellcaster.

And yet, it's window dressing. No effect on gameplay (e.g. no defensive bonus for defenders).

Noticed the same thing. I've had games with 'runs' of shields, boots, capes, umber stones, and escape scrolls, to name a few examples. I would also say swords and daggers, except it seems like there aren't really many other magical weapons, so that's not so much a picker problem.
If we're talking realism, then surely the sov shouldn't have to pay at all. Can you imagine the president or prince Harry or whoever walking into Guns'R'us, saying "I'm off to serve on the front line" and the guy behind the counter saying "That'll be 300 gold, your majesty"? Of course, that sort of realism probably isn't a great game mechanic, so it's probably irrelevant in this thread. So
