Just a note ScriptWolf, You don't need to keep Impulse up and running while playing. You only needed it to get the game, and keep it updated. After that you can just shut Impulse down until you need to use it again. That and you would have a copy of the game virtually sitting there waiting for you whenever you needed or wanted it. So that way it doesn't take up space on a desk or shelf. But it is a simplistic form in action.

I'm uploading 3 more right now, and working on recording some more. As always with Youtube, you've got to give them time to process, and then they'll be in full 1080p HD. And I am glad your enjoying them. That's pretty much why I'm doing it, for the enjoyment of others.
This is caused by the multicore threading we put in beta 3. For now, wait about 10 to 15 seconds before hitting the load game.
Yeah that makes sense, sometimes it starts chugging along like it's getting doughnuts dumped on it. And other times it runs pretty smooth right off the bat. But I am learning the part about waiting for it to finishing chugging down the doughnuts before trying to load.
I've put up some new videos for Beta 3. I was exploring the side of the Empire and jumped right into the game. So come on over http://gorstagg.wordpress.com/ take a look. I'll be filming new ones for the next couple days. And putting them up as I get them finished. So check back frequently. And I'll also try to keep this post updated with new info as I get more videos done.
Some things seem to require a city be of a certain size in order to build them. (Shards so far I've noticed seem to make me wait till a level 3 city is there.)
There's a joke around the office, that Elemental's entire budget is less than the budget for Civ V's cut scenes (I love their cut scenes). We have to do a lot with a little. The mod tools really make it apparent and help show why the game is basically done even right in beta 3 even though that'll only be obvious with the hindsight of the mod tools.
Because you've had an engine built that will support a gigantic swath of ga
...snip... It would be interesting if you could utilize your sovereign's children as diplomatic trade chits to so speak to cement diplomatic ties with another empire/kingdom through marriage, but this may be getting too in-depth, and Stardock may not want to implement too many ideas that "borrow/copy" from another game. I believe this would add a dynamic facet to the game. (sorry for my rambling post, I just let it all come o
For me, this was the only game that is just calling out to me, for sure this year. Mind you, that I'm also looking to the future with Jumpgate Evolution, and possibly Black Prophecy (Though I'm wary of their backing company). Beyond those games, I figure my mods, for this will be a bigger direction for my personal outlooks for games. Because in truth, the only other game that sounds even interesting is Civilization 5. And since this game is a much better Fantasy Civ game, I'll be quit
Quoting pad152, reply 9It's a weird beta, none of the beta testers have even seen the full game yet, one month before release. I do hope beta 3 is less buggy, the list of crash bugs keeps getting bigger. See, http://elemental.kryofx.com/ The public beta is not the same as our internal beta.
On this note, maybe if you posted a Frogboy special ... maybe giving some aspects of the dif
Seriously! Congratulations. And that looks like a beautiful Panorama!
Just on the thought of the Sovereign being replaced. Personally I Like that. A LOT. That having been said, I can also see others who want to play a near immortal sovereign who sires a great lineage and remains married. But for me.. I want the sovereign to pass after a time so he can then pass his "Power" down the line to the next worthy heir, irregardless of gender. Who then continues to pass down the power throughout the generations.
I'm just worried about this continuing out of memory error a lot of us are having. If it ships with it in the final game, I won't even be able to play myself since a game wont last for more than 200-250 turns.
Hey Lochaber, I can't say 100% that you will NOT experience it live. But what they've been sending us is stuff that is supposed to have some bugs. Because they can then follow the leaks back to where they are, and find the sou
Hey Kryo, I've submitted several "Likes" from my facebook page, by putting in the elemental facebook page but also indicating the particular posts I "Liked", while also including my real life name. http://www.facebook.com/elementalgame From what I understand, you guys will be able to in theory, look at our name, and cross reference it with those who "Like" it so you can then verify that Right? And As far as a
Personally I would prefer the option.. so that way when I zoom in, for detailed images, I can spin around them and enjoy them in their environment. But also don't mind them being larger when viewing from a bit farther out.
Hey Kryo, Can you put a realistic "Cutoff" date for those likes, because I've been "Liking" Every Elemental I've seen. (But was also doing it BEFORE the army came about.) So by that token, and like the previous Diggs, could you indicate a relative one, or will you be going through them and giving the 10 or so that have already been "Liked" on Facebook? Any information here would be helpful.
I'm looking forward to the new version of the beta. And then seeing what these spells do, and how the whole magic system functions now. To be honest, now we'll really be able to start the "Gameplay" testing. The stuff that drives the fun of the game. Should be a good ride.
@endofdayz- You certainly have a right to your opinion, but this game is not meant to be a traditional fantasy game with typical fantasy races, which I find quite refreshing. This world is completely Brad's idea and you should either go back to playing Dungeons and Dragons if you want elves or drop your argument because it is not going to change. Or better yet wait for a mod or mod it yourself. If you want more variety
As an aside, I'm still reserving my opinion on the length of a tactical battle. Without having a real context with actual experience on this front, as you've not released it. I don't know what feels right yet. (Though depending on the size of battles, I would hope that some did indeed last longer.)
So far, everything is certainly sounding good. And as much as I was hoping for Tactical battles in this beta. If it's a matter of fixing them so that they all rock. Well that's fine. As an aside, I think it would be neat to have some dungeon's be "Tactical Battle Maps" for groups to explore. With them conceivably having connected "Levels" With the ability for the player to spend several "Turns" in the dungeon, exploring each "Tactical Battle Map" they represent. I think that w
Forum ate my post last night. Quick rundown. AI now.. in beta sucks. AI in the future will challenge you to a game where you're never really sure if your going to win, until the end.
I found that I had to have a city reach level 3 before it would allow me to build a Shard.
Whether it is necessary or not isn't the question. It would certainly be fun to have! Of course it is. Developing support for 2nd monitor display inevitably takes development time off something else, so it's very much a question of necessity. It might be "handy" to have in a few cases, but none of those are compelling enough to say "Yes, we need dev time on this feature".
Well, at no point
I too would love to see dual screen implementation, ala Supreme Commander 2, with it built right in. Maybe a map of the visible land seen so far, so you can explore on the main screen and see what's going on over on the 2nd monitor, in a big picture scene.
Hey everyone, I've put up another 4 videos, with 35 minutes of footage to explore. (Fun with dealing with bugs and crashes, and thoughts on the game.) Oh did I mention it also discusses the "Magic" aspect of the game as well, so far. (For Nemesis and others who were interested.) I hope you all enjoy it, and as an aside, give the videos time to full process to watch them in full glory in 1080p HD viewing. Just need to wait for Youtube to finish that on their side.
