I just learned there will be a Sword of the Stars II (probably last to hear of it I guess). Looks pretty interesting with the exception of the continued crudy voice acting. Wondering if it will be offered on Impulse?

oddly enough I can run the thing on my work lap top (off the clock of course). I will try 3c on my home machine later this week when I am back from a business trip. On an aside, I have re-established my love for AOW while waiting for Elemental.
Well, I give up. game still stutters and stops before I can even set a game up (even in windowed mode) and continues a whole host of issues I have spent months reporting (with error logs)with no feedback, response or any solution to from stardock. I just will not waste my time trying and will hopefully be able to run the game when done. I seem to by the minority when everyone seems to have at least some success so I am pretty sure it is with my system or me but the frustration is
I am leaning toward the quad now. Keeping in mind this is a kitchen pc so the form factor is a consideration, i can get the biggest, beefiest quad HP offers for the all in one PC for right at $1500. This includes 1Tb of Hd storage, 6g ram, and 1g of dedicated vidao ram (can't remember the video card at the moment but was nvidia). It's not touch screen but the more I think about it...who needs that? especially in the kitchen. I do not want greasy finger prints on the sc
they only offer intel with the larger screens. I can get AMD but the screen size is only 18 inches. Not sure why they limit the AMD's to such small screens but that is an issue for me.

I don't mean to imply I don't need any graphics or performance. I will not be pushing the envelope with games but I do work with Adobe Indesign, Illustrator and photoshop along with another vector program called xara. I will look at the amd and see if i have that option. very good thought. I appreciate all the help. It seems pretty clear to me that i would be wasting my money on the quad right now based on my usage.
It's an HP Touchsmart. They use laptop cpu's. This is a PC for a kitchen so it will not be a hard core gamer machine (while it will run some games) and run general wordprocessing apps etc along with Adobe Indesign and photoshop

Beta 3 is starting in a week or two and includes tactical battles. That is the ONE aspect of the game I really wanted to participate in. I have posted everything I know to post for my issue here. Can someone from stardock at least acknowledge they have read this post and might be looking at the issue. Otherwise, I will wait for the final game I guess and hope I can run it.
OK, I was not running in windowed mode so had to change that ins the prefs file. The CTD has stopped but now I am back to my original problem prior to this last release where the world in not getting created correctly. The progress in building the world is very slow and then when it opens, I can not see any map, player, etc.. The game slows to a halt and really just freezes (with music still playing). open office is a great word processing altenative...for just that...standard word processing (I am not talking about the presentation or spreadsheet apps). If that is all you need...you will be fine. If you are really into document design, Adobe Indesign is the only way to go. All the other bells and whistles in MS Word are really just bloated toys.
What about all the crashes? I guess I am a small fish in a big ocean of success but I still CTD when ever I try to select anything from the base menu. I have posted this (no error log is being created) but no feedback at all. The boat is leaving and I can't even get on. This may be the wrong place to post this but so far after months of not even being able to test anything...well, getting very frustrated to say the least. Sounds like there is a lot of great feedb
wish I could agree on the stability issue. I can't even start a game now without a CTD. I have a bug reprt but no error file yet (hopefully that will be resolved soon as well). Basically, pretty bummed out but to be expected for a beta I guess.

No debug file created. I seem to be going backwords with each release. :(
