I will now attempt to make the perfect post that illustrates all basic opinions of the forum" "screw it...for now, this game sucks, but I love it and all of you are geek nerds who I really respect so make me new mods that I can play with". I think that covers it. :)
GCFL
I will be signing up for HBO when this come out. As "frugal"as I am...thats saying something!
regarding requiring food for outposts...I don't really care for that thought. In my mind, the outpost is small enough to "live off the land" so to speak. I realize it is basically wasteland but I think some latitude is needed here. Making food required seems to be an un needed overhead.
seems to me the only reason there is city spamming is because that is the only/best way to get access to certain resources. Frankly, I think the issue would be resolved if there was a minimal distance between cities (this would be very large) and then rather than build a city next to a resource, the pioneer could build a resource outpost/camp that would work or gather the resource. You would then link a caravan to it so the closest city could benefit from the resource.
It's still a form of access control, as defined by DRM. We cannot access the game without using your proprietary software first. Obviously, there will probably never be any actual updates of AoW, but still, it's a "technical" restriction as part of the agreement.
Sorry, I just don't understand this mentality. It's like saying "what do you mean, I have to have a computer that runs this stupid game?" You need a computer, you need an OS, you are telling me that
That is a pretty good point. I wanted the same ships to show it as a small fleet, etc. but yes, that is a good point. I will be making covers for the second and third volumes and will remember that next time. I appreciate the feed back. :)
I thought I would share a cover I was asked to create for a traditional paper/dice role game for a small publisher. Its my first sci-fi cover so I am sure there is room for improvement but I had fun working on it. It's not a PC game but who knows, maybe these guys will convert it to PC some day. In the mean time, you may want to check it out. <img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3289339/space%20rage%202d.png" alt="" width="816" h
A bit off topic I guess but since it was mentioned... doesn't the absense of a demo help facilitate/encourage pirating because people want to see what it is all about? Stardock has gone a long way to show their faith in their customers (that's a good thing) but the lack of a demo also seems to cause undue temptation for others. I do not think my statement can be proven but it occured to me as I was reading this thread.
If nothing else, I would just like the world map
awesome. I will sign up for HBO just to see this.
Wow....just checked those links. If I saw Elemental look like that I think I'd crap all over myself from the shock of awesomeness.
Yeah, me too. If I end up getting this (with export) I will have to play with it. I may be asking you for modding help though Raven! :)
As I said, I may use it for some print projects I am working on (part time graphic artist but not 3d modeler here). It was just a thought. As an aside I have a copy of Hexagon but not sure of it will export to the correct file format. I will have to look at it since it has been awhile since I used it.
I would like to do something about the actual look and feel of the world environment...perhaps something more realistic. While reseaching options, I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge of Vue 8 http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_8_t_pack/?tpack=fantasy and if that program could be used to create the necessary graphics (texture maps, etc) for import into the game. The exporter <a
I agree. I also do not like the grunt your characters give when you select them. Perhaps a more "verbal" response.
@GCFL If you purchased a copy, Illwinter will send you your code, I believe you just need a picture of the manual. Contact their support.
I filled out a customer support form and will see what they say. Thanks!
After reading this I think I will purchase Dominons 3 again. I uninstalled it years ago trying to save space on my old HD. I still have the disk but can't find the code any longer. Well, Illwinter Nights will love me.:)
I like the art style BUT I do think a darker, more realistic style would be interesting as an option. I have not looked into any of the graphic files but know most components can be changed but I never really considered actually changing the map tiles. That may be kind of fun if possible.
what additional content?
yeah, I agree. This kind of thing is what makes Elemental such a valuable game and will take it well beyond the core game. Awesome work!!!
The reason is that the forum used to be a tool for collaborative input during the development of a game we were all excited about. While some of that still exists, the forum has changed from a development forum to a consumer forum due to the actual release of the game. The population of the forum simply changes/grows as a result. Regardless of the quality of the build, it is inevetible one way or the other.
I along with several others have suggested they allow army placement before the battle begins. Seems to me that would be the best solution.
I appreciate the note. I have been critical of the game (not really here on the forums) and have, up to this point, chalked it up as a potentially poor gaming investment on my part. While I find the game less than ideal (part of it is my own fault for running it on minimal specs) I am encouraged by Brad's comments and will stick with the game for the long haul...not because of some blind faith in a company but because of the honest words of a good man.
I have not gone through all 59 replies here but I tend to think the main issue is that the tactical battles were really an after thought during beta. Beta was really only about a month on that section when for many it is the most important aspect. More time was taken on the unit design I suppose but without meaningful application of player designs, both aspects of the game fall a bit short. IMO, you add more polish to the tactical battle system, you will probably see more be
that is very funny. Now that the Brad Sovereign is leaving his castle...it is time to attack!
Can you trade for metal?
