I am guessing bugs which Paradox doesn't seem to get away from. I thought it already had an expansion. Did they never bother to fix it? Still broken naval and air combat..... Many things considered as WAD by Paradox doesnt make any sense in WW2 game AI w

I don't quite see the issue here, but I feel like the story is being forced to create some more buzz. I mean, look at other big games where you can play "enemies of freedom" and fight against Americans, Canadians, etc: Counter-Strike: Terrorists. Day of Defeat: Germans. Battlefield 2: Project Reality (Fantastic game/mod): Taliban, Hamas, Iraqi Insurgents, Russian Rebels... And a hundred other games besides. In the end it's not muc

Thanks for pointing this out. I spend a while earlier this year trying to get warlords 2 to run on a modern computer... Didn't turn out so well :( Definitely a great game, and I'll have to check this version out.

It's come up in the Russian forums, that they have been beta-testing network multiplayer. Seems like it's still in early stages, but I'll be happy to see it when it does arrive.
Quoting DoomBringer90, reply 8Well, as VALVe is the sole company working on it, I don't see any problem with them making it a steam exclusive, just as I don't have a problem with Stardock making their products Impulse exclusive... Exactly. I, for one, am looking forward to Portal 2. Some of its so-called 'new features' were the selling point of an independant game I played a while ago, involving us

Hound, I've found that secondary parties don't really even come into play in the campaign so far. I'm hoping this will change towards the end where larger/tougher/less linear maps hopefully come into play. They would also be more useful in multiplayer matches, but with hotseat the only current option... well, we'll see how it goes when network play is introduced.

That will be... interesting. The game mechanics, a lot of the combat mechanics, much of the plot, and the general pacing of both Risen and Gothic 3 are essentially the same. I wonder if Gothic 4 will continue along those lines, or if new devs mean a new direction. Oh well!

I've been trying out Dwarf Fortress now myself, and I think I've gotten the hang of most aspects up to the basics of smithing. Aquafiers confuse me, though. From what I understand they are an infinite supply of water, which makes them a flooding danger. But, why not just draw water from a river or brook, which are also infinite, and seem a lot safer!

Chip- I may do that, but likely not this week. When I do, I'll want to tidy it up and make it a bit more coherent. I'll also have to set up a forum account with them... not that it's a painful process, but I'm starting to get tired of creating credentials. I've got dozens and dozens, but I actively use only a handful. Still, other things come first. Today was the last of my midterms, which means I get to veg-out, tomorrow is Canada day, and I've got baseball plans on the weekend. I de

I doubt Sony if offering Valve cash, if that is what you are implying, coreimpulse. More likely Newell would prefer the Xbox, with its more internet-inclined player-base. But seeing as Microsoft is trying it's damnedest to turn Game For Windows Live (or whatever their current moniker is) into a serious competitor for Steamworks... I just can't see them letting Valve in the door. PS3 then, is the only other option if Valve wants a console presence, and I'm sure Sony doesn't mi

I think this will be my last real update on Disciples III. I'm, at this point, about half way through the third mission of the first campaign. I'm enjoying it. It is a very solid game, and barring the change in direction of the combat, it is so very true to the series. I find myself slippy comfortably in my old Disciples strategies. What I've played of the campaigns so far has been enjoyable. The storyline is, so-far, pretty standard dark-fantasy, neither spectacular or crappy

Actually playing Gothic 3 a bit at the moment thanks to the $2 sale at steam. It's a shame it released so poorly, as it isn't a bad game (with patches etc). I'm pleasantly surprised by the size of the world so far, and the draw distances too. You can see landmarks at quite a distance, which is a great help in orientation. There is a lot of exploring to do and things to find, the voice acting is fine, graphics aren't dated and it's nice to see an RPG where half the doors aren't just a
Hey I thought you techno loves were supposed to be playing with 7-10k rigs, the kind Maximum PC likes to tinker with
Well, when I built my computer, I fired up the Dell website to see what sort of a difference in price there would be if I had them make it. For roughly the same computer (No water cooling, slightly worse HDD) Dell wanted about $5,000 for. So I suppose I could claim it's a $5,000 computer, after a fashion

I suspect Raven, like me, is rather a bit of a technophile. I know I spend a disproportionate amount on electronics and games. Not that I'm preaching; everyone expects something different from their personal computer and will draw there own line. There is certainly no right or wrong. That said, I think we can agree on a definition for "platinum gaming computer," which I think could safely said to be a computer that is powerful enough to play demanding games for a few years to come. The same thing happened to me, more or less. I was able to purchase the game, but it didn't immediately show up in "My Games," and the product page said it wasn't to be released until mid-July. Later that night Impulse popped up and asked me if I wanted to install Disciples III, and I said "Yes please!" These sorts of things aren't exactly unheard of. I've picked up a game or two pre-release or not yet released in NA through Gamers Gate in the past. I assume an employee made an error

Well, I picked up Gothic 2 but so far it doesn't so much work... as... not work. The one time I was able to get the game to run, I lose all textures and geometry about 5 minutes in, and get to stare at vast blueness and the fire effects on the torches as the game slows to a halt. Figure I'll look into fixing it when I need a break with Disciples III and Reign.

I wonder if Civ V will allow for larger maps? I've always found them a little less epic than I've wanted.

I had a bigger issue with the VA's pacing, he would speed up and slow down oddly, but I generally don't wait for narrators and merely skip ahead when I finish reading. Oh, I also looked it up, but couldn't find who the voice actor is for DIII. But since he sounds like the same guy who did Kohan, I checked who that was. Interestingly enough, the guy from Kohan also did Disciples II, so I think I got it right. Tutorial- I think that that window is scripted to pop up at certain location,
