By the by, the Limited Edition price does *not* include shipping & handling. I was charged $78.95 for my copy of the LE, and was told by Stardock Sales (after emailing back & forth a couple times) that that amount was correct. That's fine -- I'm happy to pay the amount -- but you guys might want to update your information so that no one else feels misled.
I enjoyed the demo for Empires of Steel well enough, but I refuse to purchase it for two reasons: 1.) Price : As was pointed out, $45.00 is a rather steep price to pay for what is *maybe* a $30.00 game. 2.) DRM : The game's publisher Battlefront uses a form of DRM called "e
Well Matrix is a pretty cool company. (At least that's been my experience so far!) [e digicons]B)[/e]
For what it's worth, Matrix has repeatedly stated in their forums that they allow their customers to re-download their games at any time (all you need is the game's serial number). They cannot openly advertise this fact, however, as it would violate their contract with Digital River.
You do realize the game won't be available via Steam, right?
I've definitely been enjoying Distant Worlds so far, although I'm still early in my first game. Probably my biggest issues right now are with the UI and fleet management; both feel a bit cumbersome and need to be streamlined and/or made more user-friendly. Also: While this is a obviously more a personal preference, I really don't like the soundtrack; it grates on my ears something awful. That being said, I'm honestly liking this game quit

Distant Worlds
The title pretty much says it all. Multiple threads are appearing simultaneously in both sections. It's not a major problem per se, but it is somewhat confusing.
While I don't have a particularly strong opinion either way, I do tend to prefer open space travel in my 4x games. Partially because I don't like restrictions, and partially because starlane-type travel seems to favor human players over the AI (more so than open space, anyway). That being said, I'm not that picky overall. I can handle either type of travel, so long as it's balanced well and complements/enhances gameplay. [quote q

I'm definitely getting Distant Worlds , and will be posting my impressions once I've had a few days to play it. [e digicons]B)[/e]
(Gah. I really really really REALLY hate these forum glitches....)
Mars, no question.
For those who are interested, Erik Rutins (one of the good folks over at Matrix Games, the publisher) has posted a thread with some nifty-looking screenshots! Please note that virtually all of the race art/pictures in these screenies are placeholders only (the final race artwork is being completed as we speak). Yeah, the new race art does look pretty good. I also really like their descriptions, as they lend the various races some actual personality, which I think can go a long way towards improving a game's immersion. Okay, guess I'll have to post this again since the forum crash deleted it the first time.... Matrix has announced Distant Worlds will -- barring anything unexepected -- be released March 26. Just a couple more weeks!
Pre-ordered the Limited Edition. First time I've ever done that!
Didn't the patches fix the issues with Armada for you Martok?
No, they did not. But then, my biggest beef is with the combat model; it would probably require significant retooling before I was happy with it. It's too short, too fast-paced, and superior numbers seem to matter far more than superior tactics, which -- at least as I understand it -- was supposed to be part of the appeal with Armada's battles (that

Castle, NCIS, and Scrubs; that's about it. I stopped watching House 2 seasons ago, and I've not gotten back into Chuck yet. I've wanted to check out Caprica, but I've been worried about possible (indirect) spoilers, as I've not yet watched BSG Season 4.5.
