Love Twilight Imperium . It's very possibly my favorite board game ever.

Distant Worlds is definitely one to check out. It's easily the best real-time 4x space strategy game out there.

Um, what?
I cannot second the recommendation of David Weber's Honor Harrington books strongly enough. Easily some of my favorite sci-fi books!
CD Project, Steam, Stardock, Creative Assembly ...how many are left, anyway?
CA's Total War games use Steam, and so cannot be counted among those publishers who don't have restrictive DRM.
Yeah, I saw that announcement a couple weeks ago. I immediately dropped all plans to purchase Crusader Kings 2 as a result. It's a pity; I was so looking forward to that game.... It's a dark day for gamers for everywhere.
Both games are great (both need their addons). Armada 2526 with Supernova is a classic 4x (turn-based) in the line with MOO 1 & 2. It's my favorite. The basic game wasn't very sexy and many have kept that in their head but the game has made a huge progression... Distant Worlds with the forthcoming second addon is the deepest 4x game in the market...it's just superb. The game is real-time so needs more concentra
Yes, Pride of Nations is turn-based. (In fact, all of AGEOD's games are.)
I've had my eye on Pride Vainglory of Nations for a while now. I've never had much interest in the Victorian era, but this game might change that for me! I've been playing around with the demo for the last few days, and have been having fun with it for the most part. It has a steep learning curve (especially with regard to economics and the trade system) and the game could use
Hmm. I just upgraded to FireFox 4 last week, and I've not had any issues thus far (with these forums, that is -- other problems are a different story).

Dear Stardock forums, I've been reluctant to say anything for a while now, because I don't want to hurt your feelings. However, enough is enough! My patience has finally run out, and I feel have no choice but to put my foot down. Overall, you and I have gotten along well, and for a fairly long time: We've been hanging around each other since before the first Galactic Civilizations (Windows version) wa
For anyone that's got Armada 2526 plus the new Supernova expansion, I'd be up for some PBEM play!
I've been playing the heck out of Armada 2526 the last few months, especially since I became a beta-tester for the soon-to-be-released expansion Supernova . It was already a fun 4x title before, but the expansion really improves upon the vanilla game.
I just noticed this new patch a few days ago myself. Once I get my computer up and running again, I'll be trying it out.

I can definitely recommend Distant Worlds . It was already pretty decent when it first came out, and the six patches/updates it's received since then have vastly improved upon it, to the point where it can now probably be considered a true classic. In the game's current state, I'd say it's at least as good as Galactic Civilizations 2 (with both expansions)....and in all honesty, it's probably even a little better. (A
Anticipating Elemental in the worst way, I pre-ordered the Limited Edition several months ago. And while I do have the digital download version installed on my PC, I'm still waiting my physical copy, despite my living in Minnesota. (Note: It normally takes only a few days for stuff to get here from Ohio via postal service.) It's been almost two weeks since the game's release, and I'm getting antsy wondering where my LE is at. Could I get
Of the games listed, Galactic Civilizations 2 is my favorite, but they're all far from perfect. In the end, it really comes down to what you like/want most in a 4x game. Here's my quick overview: GalCiv2 Pros : Great AI. Good empire-builder. Diplomacy actually works and makes sense. Excellent ship design

Yes. Builds can end up taking days of time. Movements and attacks can depend on fleet composition, techs, and how far away they are. Was a fun game but when I started planning attacks, factoring in drive times, checking on my stuff every 30 minutes,
