What makes you guys think FE is going to be any better than EWOM? Remember we were just as excited about EWOM from "what we've read" that it was going to be the best game ever. Six months ago I said that EWOM was released six months too early... well it's been six months now and EWOM is still not solid. I don't know about you, but I'm going to be dragging my expectations in on the floor for FE.
Let

Many indie games already do offer direct from websites. Many of those folks actually prefer you buy from them directly over using a DD service such as Steam or Impulse, due to getting a better cut of the revenue. I wish Impulse let us attach games to it and receive updates that way. I know Brad has mentioned allowing certain devs to do this, but no one took him up on the offer.
1.2 so far has mostly been attempts to fix the memory leak, and some AI improvements , along with a few other things. You can see the changes in Derek's changelog threads- best way to find things is (and this is why I hate Stardock's forums, they can be really hard to navigate)- to find one of his posts, then look for all the posts he started.
I like that idea also, or perhaps have it modify a rare tech to be more common, or add a tech to the tech tree as a rare tech (you have to discover how to make it work with what you got?)
That could work, unsure how it would be implemented though. Maybe not having those resources would open up other techs- for example, not having metal might make you produce better leather armor.
Came up with this in IRC, was positively received Quests should have a variety of extra triggers: such as tech researched Example: if you have research leather armor, you could get a hunt beast quest- with a reward of beast hide armor of some sort for your champion Expert Spellbooks might give you a fetch quest which gets you a spell in the end, or spellbook Treaties tech might give you a quest that if you succeed, a bad effect cou

It's showing as out now, but getting error on Impulse when I try to dl. Short-term problem?
If the haters are posting on here, that means, at some level, they think you can make a great game- if they didn't, they'd just write off their losses and leave. Some things are so mediocre/poor they aren't even worth trolling. ^_^
Steam's features are good for MP integration- usually what I want out of a client though is for it to stay out of the way unless I want it to do something. Steam is like a car with all the features, but those features make it a little unreliable Impulse is like the little Japanese car that just works but doesn't have a ton of frills.
I'm really hoping combat gets redesigned from scratch with FE from the ground up. The current system just isn't worth it. I have ideas, but it would take too long to explain (and I have in other areas)
I find Steam invasive and overbearing. The "offline mode" is merely cosmetic. You go into offline mode and you get a little piece of text that says "offline mode", that's it. Try logging in with your buddies Steam account after they're in offline mode... surprise! Steam account is somehow still in use. Then send your buddy a message when they're in offline mode... surprise again they recieve your message. For being offline that sure seems like a

If people wanted steamworks games they would use steam.. not impulse.. omg the absurdity... i can't even begin to verbalize my disbelief and dislike of this statement. If Stardock ( Impulse ) want to survive , they will have to adapt . Just check out D2D , GamersGate or Gamesplanet

'Strategy' inherently requires more than ordering units around, it requires a grander scheme to have a robust production capacity and not stay limited to the units you start with. Tactics are the battles. If you dislike basebuilding, you dislike strategy; if al
So this will be in the next beta? That will help. I'd almost say the books thing should be hardcoded, or it should be a no-brainer call for the AI (AI should know all possible outcomes, and decide from that)
I wouldn't say a 160GB disk is that small, unless you buy a ton of AAA games. I have on my 160GB SSD on my current laptop 7 games and have used under 50 Gigs of the HD space. I have plenty of room. I do have a second laptop so some things do go there which I move on a flash drive, and I don't keep unnecessary fluff on this comp, but the real problem is bloat from the AAA guys.
GC2 was a very good game. Brad has pointed out himself the flaws that keep it from being great in various spots. (Note: great game are two words I use VERY sparingly, if ever). This is why I am amped for GC3, no matter what happens with Elemental, because I can also see Kael's lore ability really helping to flesh out some of the GC2 universe, and I can see Jon coming up with a couple of fun new mechanics , which Brad's AI could handle. (I think Jon would have som
Many titles that use Reactor don't use Reactor on other platforms.
We have many other more serious design issues with these forums before getting into Ignore User. I'd honestly even prefer a vBulletin style forums to the current layout of SD forums.

Some related ideas that I think would help this idea out as a general concept: a) Adventurers. We flat out need more of them. Adventure needs Adventurers. One thing I'd like to see is adventurers spawned from the towns themselves. Borrowing from FFH, why not have Adventurer's Guilds, which would have adventurer points which spawn adventurers as random NPCs in the town's influence (you could recruit them directly, or....) I really thin
The issue isn't so much the heroes level, it's the equipment combined with STR.
Brad admit
Quoting Frogboy, reply 189 Right now, using Steamworks is an option. If Steam has enough market share, they could easily make it a requirement to be on Steam. Then you start charging $X per month to make use of multiplayer, chat, etc. IF Steam ever becomes dominant enough perhaps you could save this post so you can refer to it. And there's nothing stopping Impulse from doing the same thing, if it ever domin
