1.2 is Engine 1.3 is Gameplay. Requires two different skillsets. Also, they want to get 1.2 perfect, so any bugs that get in 1.3 or FE will be easier to fix. It's a more logical process, and there's no real time pressure on either one, so they don't have to crunch, which is what got Elemental into trouble in the first place.

So if you wanted to patch the game at 2am like you did one time, or on a Saturday or Sunday, would you still be able to do that? I don't have an official answer, but putting up updates at 2 AM or on weekends is generally not desired behavior. We're trying to avoid situations that necess

With MP ruined and Sengoku probably ending up a better Shogun 2 SP experience (Paradox's attempt at it comes later this year), I might as well pack this game up. Had a good couple of weeks, and the GG store credit got me some nice stuff, so was worth it, barely.

Then there's AT&T, who is implementing a 150GB cap. Low, but not criminal. There's nothing to keep them from colluding with Time Warner to keep degrading ser

Impulse doesn't autopatch, which can sometimes be a good thing- I wish it could be set from game to game. Sometimes I want the autopatching though.

The problem is it's very hard without such a system to keep spam from dominating. Usually it's spammed ranged units , or spammed mobile units, or spammed horse archers. It can be done, it's just difficult to design. One idea of the top of my head- mounts. The base mounts of wargs and horses. Horses should be the more effective mount, wargs could have the ability to scare horses, causing negative effects to hor
Impulse is better on that point. It is also worse in other areas.
Those areas don't matter for single-player games to me. Steam is the better MP client, Impulse the better SP client. Impulse has potential to be better at MP, but needs to finish the ideas they are planning to implement. SD was really slow with this, hopefully Gamestop allows it to go faster. <p

I personally dislike for single-player games to have a 3rd-party program required to play the game. Update/install the game is ok, playing not so much.

let's see. Local cable monopoly owns the ISP. People start cancelling cable due to Netflix being a better alternative. See a conflict of interest here? I certainly do. I'm not opposed to business. I'm opposed to monopolistic practices and anti-consumer price-gouging. It took congressional action, from out-of-state, to stop my community from being placed under a 5GB/month cap in 2009. If you don

Another factor, some monsters may be weak against one of those damage types. Maybe a sand golem is immune to piercing, but vulnerable to crushing. A shrubbery might be vuln slashing, etc. I'm hoping magic will be as varied as weapons, with stuff that I can play this game for a year as my main game, and still see stuff I haven't seen before then.

I share some of your concerns, but I'm a lot more moderate in them. Steam I limit my purchases to games I will play exclusively MPer, to which the DRM doesn't matter. Otherwise, I stick to Impulse/Gamersgate/direct. I also made the decision to not purchase Civ V for that reason. That said, you should at least give Gamestop a chance to mess up before condemning them. I figure if Gamestop does do something stupid, you'll have some

Another indy developer, cliffski (Gratituous Space Battles/democracy series) - he's not thrilled with the news, but doesn't think it will be that bad. He was one of the first guys to support Impulse. I don't think anyone is thrilled with the news, I just don't think Gamestop will deliberately sabotage the service, and I think Gamestop will know they're going to have to compete hard to stay viable. I can see a scenario where this works out

Canada , where the ISPs actually got the citizenry to revolt. Your guys may actually be worse. I expect this to become a secondary election issue in Canada. There is a secondary reason besides price-gouging. The ISPs also run cable, which is overpriced and outdated compared to stuff like Netflix and Hulu. This is about burying those businesses, along with burying businesses like Steam and Impulse on the side. Any PC gamer needs to be alar

Scritty, I don't think dissent is being squashed. Consolidated into one thread, but not squashed. I do think Gamestop has good intitial intentions, as they need something to move into the next gen, since the used console game business is going to go belly-up pretty soon, the next-gen consoles should make sure of that. My worry is that they won't be able to resist doing something stupid in the name of short-term profits. I also see a

One thing I definitely want to see weaponwise, is for you guys to have so many rare weapons/items, that even if I play the game for 3-4 years, I'll only see half of them. I want to be surprised. The absolute best games have the ability for you to come back to them years later, and still find something new.

console publishers making the next-gen of consoles resale proof would be just that for Gamestop, and I put the odds of that happening at 80%. That said, I think consoles have peaked as a business model.

And you believe the ISPs on this, when they are on record as saying " We get more money by not investing in our product." Time warner actually said this. Caps are about price-gouging, pure and simple. WHy is it when Time Warner tried to introduce caps in 2009, the four markets they picked where the four markets they had a total monopoly in? I so want to leave NC now, but I'm job-tied until 2012.

That's resources that would not have been in the PC gaming market if they'd continued on their existing path. I don't know if Stardock even had the resources to expand Impulse in the ways I wanted (voice chat and other functional weaknesses compared to Steam) but I know I wasn't s
