This is the sort of thing that has to be regulated by government, as there is no free market for internet due to the entry costs. Internet service is a utility not a luxury.

What I want in a MP mode is quite simple for a game like this: The ability to play a modded (MP games need modding to deal with exploits) SP game with or against a friend or friends without disconnects. Elemental didn't really provide this. (lack of mod support in MP, lack of stability apparently also) That said, the game has to be worth playing SP, for it to be worth playing MP
That's a neat feature. I really wish you guys would make a streamlined, no-peon RTS. We haven't had a good one of those since Kohan. Maybe Elemental 2 should be an RTS? BTW you make a good point on the reciprocity, I hadn't thought of that, though I don't think Valve will do it. While I know you can't/won't respond to this last part, I'm going to assume that part of your plan is
The closest thing I can think of is the 20% time Google has. I do like to see WOM still being worked on. FE isn't coming for a good while, and new ideas/patches keep a game fresh, and you never know if it will hit the jackpot. Is the any ETA on when a 1.3 beta would start, PSN outage is making me a little nuts these days?

Curious about something- would it have worked if you made the design and then made the engine fit the design?
For indies, cliffski (GSB creator) is starting his own community site for that, showmethegames.com but you have to be selling the game yourself to be on there. The fact that so many gamers are reliant on one service, is potentially catastrophic. What if Valve got hacked like how PSN was hacked? And yeah, Gamestop really shot itself in the foot long-term, for very little short-term benefit. I doubt Magicka
And the NC anti-community broadband just passed with a vetoproof majority. Ugh. Gotta love bought and paid for state legislatures.
I'm just concerned that we'll be subsidizing the dinosaurs- as they'll find it cheaper to buy votes in Congress then improve their service. They're already doing this at the state level.
I figured they'd be thinking something other then short-term though. Big corps and lack of foresight go hand-in-hand though. That is the complete opposite of what I consider to be Stardock's culture.
I was hopeful Gamestop would compete with Steam, not collaborate. If Stardock's future titles are Impulse exclusives (this doesn't apply to Elemental but future titles), I will be much less likely to purchase them. I wonder if Brad knew this was coming (I doubt he did personally).
The monopoly is complete. Dark Day for PC gaming.
You just get tomorrow's daily deal earlier. It's not a big deal. You still get 24 hrs.
It downloaded at around 800 for me, which is what I got before.
After the 1 year period, I hope Stardock puts their stuff on the servers they'll be using for Object Desktop. My reasoning: a) You buy from a DD portal, they get a cut. If I'm paying for a Stardock game, I'd rather see Stardock get the full share of the money. While I have nothing against Valve/Paradox/Gamestop specifically, I don't see why they should get $15 of the $50 if I don't have to give it to them. Stardock gettting th
If they all collude to cap, which is happening- then they don't need to worry about losing customers. There are laws on the books about this- but you can't win a case about it, and it's so so hard to prove.
It logs me out also, and I don't use CCleaner but rarely. Seems to hit every 7 days. I think Stardock only stores cookies for a week (at least on Firefox). It's just one of the things that irks me about SD forums.
It's not going to change until corporate America gets scared. It's probably going to take a rise of militant leftism.

Pure capitalism or pure socialism doesn't work - you really need a base of capitalism with some government intervention on important things. As far as I see it, extremes of anything are bad news. The US corporations and the US government seem to have chosen welfare for the few rather than the many. Best regards, Steven.
This isn

Granted all states are cutting higher education budgets right now, but California is in by far the worst mess.
It doesn't help when states like CA and IL get only 70 cents out of every federal dollar they give in taxes, whereas States like MS get twice what they put in.
Yeah we talked a lot about the risk of people restarting to try to get some particular random tech they want, or a combo they like. It's a smaller version of the risk of people restarting to get a starting location they want. It's a legitimate risk. We are attempting to balance that by not having the random techs be to powerful. Things like Masterwork Shields, once
Love the changes. The tech system in WOM was a huge problem with the game. It sounded neat, but didn't work. Worries/concerns/ideas: 1) Random techs, keep no matter what, but I have some concerns - Micromanagement: people will be scouring the whole tech tree at the start of the game. I'd like to see the hidden techs hidden until you research a prerequisite, so you don't know what you can discover. - I&
