I don't hate them, I just refuse to do business with them for now, mainly due to this DRM policy and having a ton of pre-order exclusives (which I find really annoying). Really, doing right by your customers just makes good sense in the long-term. When you screw over your customers, they're going to abandon you at the first chance. Unfortunately, Stardock seems to be the largest company in the gaming industry that truly understands that. <

I'd like to make one feature request I'd like to see kept in the new Stardock DD client. I'd love to see you guys keep the video card updater that Impulse has. That thing is useful. As for Gamestop, now that a local indy gaming shop/arcade has opened in my area (if you're in the Greensboro area of NC- look up Lost Arc Video Games near UNCG- they're awesome)- I no longer have need to hit Gamestop, so KOFXIII is my last pre

Does this mean Fallen Enchantress is going to be on the new Stardock specific program or will we get it through Impulse?
I'm suspecting Impulse, but I'd be really happy if you could use your serial on the new Stardock client when you release it.

1) The game works pretty much as intended now. There are still some fundamental gameplay flaws, but they've been improved on. I wouldn't call this game a classic, but it's decent now. Brad seems really stoked about Fallen Enchantress, which you'll get for free. Brad is currently working on 1.4 now. 2) Yes, you get the expansions free of charge for suffering through the launch pains. (you pre-ordered so you get the next

As for needing a program for every developer- you're right- I don't. I do want one for Stardock stuff though. The reason I want it is simple: Steam is something that can go wrong- so it's not my first option, and Impulse just doesn't have anything I really want anymore: the quality of their game selection has gone down heavily since the Impulse takeover. Also, I may pick up some of the Stardock non-game stuff, and the lack of an updater

Stocks perhaps? It's too bad you guys took the animation away off of improvements. I can just imagine Brad putting his favorite forum trolls from various boards in the guillotine.

As for the one city improvement: that doesn't mean you can't have multiple different buildings doing the same thing, with the later buildings having prerequisites like a certain tech or certain size. Think library/university in civ, or market/bank. It's generic, it's kinda dull, but it works.
I like the idea. I like anything that makes diplomacy more interesting. I've always thought it a horrible game mechanic that cultural increases push borders back and forth with no consequences* in most games that feature the mechanic. How many wars have been fought over where a border lies? Once to borders meet, they should stay where they are until something actively changes them. War, treaties, founding of an

To me, at least for this game, "culture" is an abstraction of how far your claims go. This is why I think culture is great for expanding into unclaimed territory, but culture shouldn't change claimed territory unless a city changes hands. "culture" should be a trait of cities, not factions

I'm happy with this. I will likely move my current Stardock stuff over to Stardock Central (I'd like you to keep that name), provided GCII and Elemental keys work on SDC. Will keys work on SDC and Impulse, or will new keys be issued just for SDC? I do wonder if you'll have problems with SDC if you try to get on Steam, given the issues EA went through. Then again, you generally don't offer DLC, so I don't think Steam will care

Here's my idea: I think influence should determine borders, but once influences tough- it should become the border. Rivers and other natural boundaries should be harder to spread influence into, so that those areas become natural borders more often. City influences should determine provinces, which determines the territory gained/lost when a city is captured. As with country borders, cities have individual influence, which

Also noticed that it seems tech advances (both mundane and magical) seem to be delayed a turn before they come out, at least visually- the bar fills, but you don't get the advance until the next turn. It happens randomly, and seemed to happen more towards the end of game. Maybe this is a related issue?

I do have to second WhiteElk's call that I also wish for Stardock to start self-distributing their own games again. My reasoning is I don't want to give Gamestop a 30% cut of future purchases from you guys, and what I've seen from Gamestop since the purchase of Impulse hasn't been positive. Also, I suspect Stardock as a corporation will last longer then Gamestop. Kodiak888: Paradox has a game coming down the pike set in
A single production queue forces the player to choose what is most important for a city to build. Good strategy is all about having to make important choices. It SHOULD be tough to have a strong economy and military. Of course, the military and economic paths should also be balanced (otherwise it’s just a bad strategy game). If there is one source of production multiple queues are inefficient, since you’re splitting your r

I'm not a fan or removing the split queues- to me the split queues are a big part of Stardock's games. My objections are largely traditionalist here, so they can be disregarded. That said, maybe split queues should be limited to major cities, or a benefit of a lvl 3 city? Unsure if that's doable though. I think rebels if you get too many of them should have a chance to overthrow towns, or hurt city defense (turn traitor?) M

You're right there shouldn't be crashes, but the crashes are caused by RAM limitations. Get rid of the RAM limitations, crashes become much rarer. That said, I don't think people would use this to build giant epic maps like people think- I think most people are limited as to the size of world they wish to handle. Also, with Windows 8 coming out, it's getting more and more difficult to code a game for XP machines and modern

Lore Shops can be built infinitely in lvl 1 Empire Towns with Kraxis at least. Unsure if this applies at higher levels.
