My idea: The channeler is the one who can cost globally- the only one who can cast strategic mana, which is what your mana points are spent on (INT can affect strategic spellcasting power) It takes a channeler to draw mana from shards, and channelers can grant attunement to magic. INT should determine tactical spellcasting ability, from local essence not tied to shards. Other mages can be influenced by shards, but cannot cast glo
I was easily able to smack down the AI. For some reason, the AI units being sent home are not being put into the city, they're outside the city so their sovereigns can't defend. Also, in tactical battle, the AI unit isn't using spells.
This has been a problem ever since you changed the magic system in 1.1. I'd suggest making tactical spells not cost mana again ,
I second Tridus's remark. I'm not saying don't stay on Impulse, but my preference would be for you guys to sell games directly again, and you should go on Steam for business sense purposes.
They did fix their mess. I lost trust in them due to this, but they're going to get another chance. They are running out of chances though, and I do wish Stardock would stop being Impulse-exclusive when they are allowed to do so.
I'll say this- I'm getting the game free, and Impulse is not a bad program, so I won't be boycotting FE. There's enough good to great games out there, that no individual platform can keep me using it due to exclusive games. Steam can't, so Impulse really can't. Right now I am upset and disappointed with how Gamestop has treated customers since the Impulse takeover. I am upset enough that I am not buying anything on there for th
I hate to say it, as I wanted to give Gamestop the benefit of the doubt- but the Deus Ex scandal + a general decline in selection and deals means I no longer wish to support Impulse. I hope Stardock gives customers the option of Steam/Impulse/Direct Purchase in future. Gamestop is playing dirty, but in a way that won't work and will alienate people.
If you do this, you need ways to auto-genning up champions though, like through battles, births, and quests.
Unrelated but you mentioned it. I really wish Empire could get horses. Wargs should be an exotic mount that requires a random tech. I don't feel the current setup in WOM is a good design decision, it's just a nuisance. At a very minimum, I'd make horses a food resource for Empires, and wargs a food resource for kindgoms. Maybe one of the Empire factions can't use horses (horse spookers perhaps)?&
What you could do is stack limits on tiles unless you have a hero to command them, or they are in a city. Overstacks that lose their hero will be controlled by the AI, and will try to head towards the nearest hero or town.
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/deus-ex-3-unofficial-title/1190175p1.html Seriously, this is flat out wrong and unethical enough on Gamestop's part, that I will boycott if something like this happens again. I'm getting the future Elemental stuff for free, so no problems for now- but now I want Stardock to no longer be Impulse-exclusive after Elemental. I know t
Quoting Campaigner, reply 70If there's 15 guys on the team and everybody got 3000$/month (7SEK = 1$) then 1 month of development on Fallen Enchantress costs 45.000$. Your time to guess Labor is only about half of the cost of running a studio. On top of that, please send me the resumes of good developers who will work for $45k a year.
Do they have to
FE will be available, at the very least, via Impulse. If Stardock makes its own direct system, it'll be something more like Get.Live.com where it's just a quickie manager. The future of digital distribution on games belongs to Steam and Gamestop as far as we're concerned.
My preferences in this regard are as long as I don't need a 3rd-party client to play the game in
My choice, which is weird. Kohan cross Granado Espada (for the artstyle) Would have Kohan-style gameplay with a Baroque-style art and units, along with magic. It the game had Stardock-level AI, it would be a masterpiece. Console pick: (this is going to be really strange) Virtua Fighter cross Buriki One One of the most strategic games ever (yes, it's a fighting gam
Thanks for the update also. We do really need these bi-weekly or so, as I think folks are starting to get antsy for FE. I'm just worried that FE is taking so long that I ended up overhyping, and getting disappointed when you don't give us a pony with the beta. I'm already feeling that way with another game I'm anticipating in about 10 weeks.
Well, Brad realized that weakness, as he got the guy from FFH on board, and hired a writer to help with that. The funny thing is that I felt the GalCiv games had a soul, so I was really disappointed in that aspect of EWOM (among other things). One thing I've realized now, is that the requirements for a single-player strategy game for me to enjoy it are 1) It must have a soul 2) It must have competent AI
What I'd like to see is an announcement of the beta starting sometime this year... ^_^
I really don't think Brad wants to get into any more politics after the crap he's gotten in the past. That said we do need some more dev diaries, I'm hoping a beta of FE comes out this year at least.
I do have to add that I also find the traders to be rather tedious in WOM- it should be automatic once you build a road (which is what the caravans should do) Trading just isn't fun to micromanage in a 4X game when you can blow up stuff or explore instread
My wishlist: 64-bit game (so all my RAM can be used) Well-Done Naval Combat More Diverse Content and Experiences- because by the time the 2nd XP is out, I hope to have played this game enough that I've seen everything. Increased AI on the weak points of the game, whatever those are. That's my wishlist, one new feature, and improve on FE's foundation (I'm assuming FE achieves about 80% of what SD is cla
It will be ready when it's- oh,, who I am kidding- I want new toy now. ^_^ Seriously, the last thing SD needs is a horribly buggy alpha build released, and then we all rage on it. They want some polish before getting it out in the wild, that's why I think it's taking so long.
The DRM alone made it go from sale to no sale. Not surprised by anything else.
Stardock was on a good roll until WOM. FE, to me, will determine whether the problems with WOM are growing pains or a bad trend. That said, Stardock has earned the benefit of their doubt with their past history and actions from me. That's the loyalty they have built up from their past decisions. Here's the question though: how can you judge the success of a game like FE, when so many folks are going to be playing it for f
Boiling Blood- Target is cured of any curses, poisons, and diseases, but takes half damage Strategic/tactical Immolation- Target gets +1+shards move and combat speed, but randomly takes damage each time they move. Tactical Embers of Restoration- heals a unit fully by speeding its metabolism , but unit is unable to heal naturally again. Strategic/Tactical Smoke- blinds an enemy unit , and causes them to take
True Aim increases accuracy of ranged attacks. Strategic/Tactical Suffocation- decreases defense and 20% damage taken each turn until resisted. Tactical Blade Barrier- all units that attack the units take a weak attack as an automatic counterhit. Ranged attacks suffer a large hit penalty, both to and from Strategic/Tactical. Leviation- allows units to fly for short distances. Does not increase movemen
