You know what we find fun? Turn based strategy games. Yeah - no kidding. Used to be amazing at street fighter 2 in the arcade... not so much now.
That said, the guy who won MVC3 at Evo last year is almost 40. &nb

As much as I've criticized Steam over the years, Steam is important for sales. A good GC2 is great advertising for Elemental:FE as well. One curious question for those who have bought on steam: Can you run the game from the steamapps DRM-free with Steam closed? Some games from companies that dislike DRM allow this (Dredmor does this, as well as Talewords games).

I think it would be interested to see Brad talk to Sephi from the Wild Mana/Master of Mana FFH modmod. He's done some good stuff with the AI in that, though he's cut some features to do it.

Are we going to get units going onto boats though in some form or fashion? I don't think it's a deal-breaker. One of my favorite RTS's of all time didn't have naval stuff, but navies are important, and something does feel missing when they're left out, even if they're a massive AI pain. Will the AI try to go through other ZOC's, or evaluate whether it should try to? Will the AI punish another player or lower
Quoting Alstein, reply 8I thought units could move across water Civ 5 style? Naval stuff is my biggest request for an added feature for the 2nd expansion right now though. What make you think Civ5 style transports are a good idea for the Elemental games? This is not a one unit per tile game.
It avoids the building of transpo

why wouldn't it be AI vs AI anyways- but under the hood so you don't see the graphics? An AoW2 style surrender option for battles which are hopefully one-sided would be nice.

If given the choice between delay or having the folks work overtime, I'll take the delay. Programmers and designers who get sufficient time off do a much better job.

I don't think I'm going to die in the next 10 years, so I'm not too worried about a delay. I really do not like the starting quests idea- it seems like a chore or something that delays the start of "playing the game". It would have gotten repetitive fast. Glad it was axed.

What I'd like to see with caravans is that they deliver the bonuses when they reach your destination- gold for one side, something else for the other. You can build improvements to routes to increase the yield. Trading within your civ just provides gold though. Trading outside your civ provides same gold but also other resources. Amounts would be based on levels of cities, bonus resources (impacts what you get), safety of ro
I think having full-featured MP is the best option, though that depends on what resources are required for it. It shouldn't be heavily supported though. Maybe listing what would be cut if you did that , so the fanbase could see what the option is, would be for the best. FE would be cut before we re-did the entire tactical battle system to make it MP friendly. It's would require a total rewrite and add probably a

One thing I'm curious about: On Object desktop subscriptions- if you let them expire, can you re-download what you bought earlier even if it's after the date? I'm liking some of the programs already.

MP without full features will not please reviewers or fans. If you go SP-only, then all features of the game have to be done well by the AI, even if it means removing features from the game itself. This was the big flaw in FFH to me, too many things the AI just didn't do well. I think having full-featured MP is the best option, though that depends on what resources are required for it. It shouldn't be heavily supported though.&

Most AAA DLC these days are largely a trojan horse for increased price of games, by holding content back instead of having it additional content. Some smaller companies do this as well, Paradox is guilty of this in my eyes, though usually it's just $1 or $2. This is a big reason why the only console games I buy are fighters- they're the only games with sufficient replay value to make the DLC worth it. It's also a big reason why I shun AAA PC

The rights I wish: No transferring of private information without explicit consent on a sale (you kinda messed up on this one this year) No always online DRM for single-player I've given up on the idea of a GBOR though, I just base decisions on individual companies, and generally shun the AAA companies.

I would trust Steam before I'd trust Gamestop. I worry about Steam's TOS crap, but they've never screwed me. I'd trust the Enron folks before I'd trust Gamestop. I gave Gamestop one last chance, and they failed me. Once my next console game comes in next week, I'm done doing business with them completely.

Hopefully some of the stuff that gets cut out can be added back in via patches later on.

My guess: it costs money. Why would Steam let you use their services without getting a cut of the money? That said, I'm happy that Steam folks will get to see Stardock games.
