I agree the spiders tend to be underpowered. Do fortress towns level up spiders? I'd like to see some Resoln spider cavalry (the sprite does exist already)

Governor promotions aren't going to make you more powerful, so a higher lvl Governor hero isn't that threatening.
I really dislike the "when idle" mechanic myself. It's boring. I never pick those options because they're boring. You have to watch the upper left for when cities go idle.
+1 to the above idea as well- at least as a supplemental idea.
Soul Shards Void Shards those would be my two alternatives, if these bugs can't be fixed soon. They've been around for too long for me to think it's an easy fix.
Yep, same old bug, new twist. capture an outpost, can't flip the shard. Can't even corrupt the shard over. Edit: save/reload did flip the shard. Something still buggy here though. I really think you guys would be better off getting rid of the life/death shard differentiation, it's caused so many bugs and provides zero gameplay benefit.
Ok, how about this Random idea: Some injuries provide negative traits to champs stationed in a city, like insanity (+10% unrest to cities champ is stationed in) Governor promotions: maybe have a flat +1xp per turn started and ended in the same city. Governor promotions should give bonus xp: maybe Merchant promotions give 1XP for every x gildar a city provides per turn, Administrators can 1 XP per thing built in a city, Loremasters ga
I'd rather see effects scale or unlock by level instead.
The problem is the old stupid was kinda silly- band of death, but the newer system feels gamey and contrived. I've never liked it. I think a decent compromise would be to adjust the penalties for hero stacking by level, or to make the penalty apply based on monster strength and champ level. epic- no penalty for heroes under lvl 15 deadly- no penalty for heroes under lvl 10 strong- no penalty for heroes under lvl 6</
True, but what if a champ is defending+ governing? Have a feeling what you are suggesting may not be doable. There needs to be more governor traits with more variety- that would reduce the odds of gaining fighting promotions. As for adventurer's guild buff, it's meant for lower-level champs, can kinda see not boosting it.
Voted Good: Details why: I think the overall big change- with how cities are presented, is good. I think once you get the major balance kicks sorted out here, the game will be in a feature complete state, the only add-ons after this should be expanding current concepts (more quests/items/champions , balance tweaks, etc, not new game concepts) Why I can't vote excellent: Bugs and glitches.&nbs
Right now it's level up your governor champs to 4, camp then in city, they then do nothing rest of the game other than provide passive bonuses. It's kinda boring- there needs to be a balance between boring and overpowered in here somewhere. Adventurer's guild kinda works as a solution- but a world wonder and limited to one city isn't really cutting it. My suggestion: New Improvement: Governor
[quote who="UmbralAngel" reply="5" id="3208799"]The AI usually inches forward one space at a time against ranged units making them really strong despite any initiative penalties. Also, I think the auto-resolve feature favors ranged units a little bit, just looking at Lady Irane auto-resolve some battles and not getting any scratches on turn 1. I have been using a shortbow I picked up on a another champion. It is much weaker but useful for those governor heroes who
I have to agree with this- at least in general. There is a problem- and xp is really tough to gain. Maybe buff xp gains on the strongest monsters as a way to solve this, in addition to giving class at lvl 2 or 3, which are uninteresting.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6609288/debug.err https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6609288/1.EleSav save. Looks to be some sort of pathfinding issue. Tried saving and reloading didn't resolve.
Guessing the issue might be shards in posession but not finished built (or in the process) are being counted. Do not know if this applies to other spells, but definitely applies to heal.
I kinda like the idea of pioneers only building outposts, then you upgrade to a city. I think what is needed is a slight slowdown: maybe there should be some sort of minimum amount of yield needed to build a city, that would go down as you researched techs. Would make rushing to marginal building sites not happen in the early game. Another possibility is tweaking the high-end improvements to be more valuable, so super-cities
Maybe the consulate should be removed, nerfed, have a drawback, or move way high up in the tech tree. As for occupation- I agree penalty should eventually go away completely, I think the mechanic needs to be changed slightly. My suggestion: Garrisoning a town reduces the unrest penalty. Normal troops count as 1 point per unit in terms of reducing unrest Governors counts as their level points in terms of reducing unrest.
It's like the old mounted archery issue in WOM. Ariane's neat, but it takes about 5-10 seconds for her to attack in TC.
It takes a round for it to show up usually. cosmetic only, existed in previous betas back to WOM.
There's plenty of valid reason to hate Gamestop. I don't , but there are plenty of reasons people do, and they're valid.
[quote who="Asmodean_dk" reply="57" id="3207939"]I have played for a couple of hours. I'm still very much in the early stages of my first game in beta 4 on normal difficulty, on a large map, with 4 opponents. I am getting my butt nicely handed to me. Loving it so far. Wanted to vote "Excellent", but have only voted "Good" because of this reason: - Since last playing the FE beta, which is a few months, my email address h
Right now, it's too early for me to vote, but I'm seeing one pacing problem I think it's too easy to get a bunch of cities, the one game I got to play, I had like 5-6 cities before I really had any interaction with anyone. I'd also like to see Civ 4 style popups when you're finished building in a city, so you can decide what to build next. The way Civ does it hasn't been beat yet, and I wish Stardock would copy
From now on, I just won't do business with the Steam store. I assume any issues with Steam will revolve in the end around payment issues, so I'll just buy things outside of Steam from now on, unless absolutely necessary. If I buy any game that requires Steamworks, it will be from another site such as Gamersgate.
No thank you to all games mandating Steam, unless you allow folks to run the game without running Steam (for single player)- do that and most of my objections are dropped. As for the sensationalism lately, only real thing you can do is what you're doing- put out stuff people like. It's gotta suck not being able to respond to it all.
