UNsure if this is a bug, it probably is, but I tried to use Vertar's Howl on some Skaths that were annoying me, accidentally cast it on my sovereign due to hititng my own tile, I killed myself with the spell (I had a ton of water shards). Even though I had 3 other cities- game over.

I think they're close to feature complete right now. That said, there are plenty of directions to go in the future with the 2nd expansion. As for pioneer spam- how about pioneers stopping growth when they are being built, and time required to build them based on different rules, like 600/population turns, and no rushing allowed? I think that might help, though is probably too inelegant a solution.
The latest patch idea is a step in the right direction, not sure it's enough of a step though. Will need more testing. I think the max level shards should give some scary demons- maybe with an extra tech needed.
I still think spamming on marginal cities is best, just for being able to put a study there. THe prestige penalty is verry easy to overcome with buildings/sovereign's call/leveling up champs/sovereign.
Some wildlands are useful- it's a great way to level up heroes. So I wouldn't call them useless, except for fighting guardians. Right now- I feel essence is OP, especially early game. Grain is underpowered. I'd rather have a 2/4/3 early game over a 5/2/1.
Did it with Tarth and Irane 1- while levelling up was too difficult in .950-.951, it might be too easy in .952, though I suspect some of this was due to tutelage, which is very powerful, and probably doesn't belong in the air school. That spell is flat out OP for a lvl 2 spell. (+25% XP for 1 mana/turn is nothing) Add in a magic item with benefits per level and you get a steamroller. 2- Quest victory is difficult
Hopefully as many of these as possible make it into the base game.
I'd prefer it if it was based on land owned instead of power. The two are related, but land owned is a little more intuitive/makes more sense.
About this event in particular- wouldn't it buff Tarth instead of hurt them? If Tarth is winning, such an event might just hand them the game, seriously. Just a thought off the top of my head, and I don't think this is necessarily problematic, as long as there are other random events. I also wanted to see some minor random events- like what you had in FFH2. Not everything has to be epic. What I'
Yep, it is out of whack. Easier to make them surrender. They'll accept surrender but not peace.
The only responsibility Stardock has to me is making sure the core factions are balanced. Anything custom regarding balance is up to the player- I do think we need more factions, but I know that won't make it into the game, so I'll save my complaining on that for the expansion.
I'm wondering how hard that release date on Steam is- because this game isn't a month away from being releasable IMO- needs at least 2, maybe 3. Edit: saw another post that said date wasn't hard, so nevermind. Still think that October date is too optimistic- you've got a bit more balancing and a good bit more polishing/fixing to do.
I think if you have upgraded shards, you should get a stronger creature from the shards. Most of the current shard monsters are paper-thin and don't do any damage.
I think it miight be hard to get a big change in, if I was to suggest something: spells would have a casting initiative. This would determine when the spell is cast. Flame dart might be 25 for example. Dirge of Ceresa might be 8. Certain traits and items might increase magical init, mostly off path of the mage. This should be doable within the engine. <p
Yes to this.
[quote who="gumbostu" reply="7" id="3213986"] Quoting Emperorjarin, reply 1Another option: your prestige is the max number of cities you can found. That way, city spam can be addressed without severely nerfing outposts. I like this idea. You could even be a little less draconian, and make it so that if number of cities > prestige, then none of your cities grow at all (rather then the minimum of 1). Also, I think making level 5 cities better also
No weapon should give an init bonus without enchantment: bare hands should give best init staves and daggers should also be no penalty, then swords could be -1 or -2, then move from there. Basically, the real effect should be that bare hands is best for mages, to get rid of mages looking for swords and daggers.
I'd settle for the AI being able to use raise/lower land.
People seem to go out of their way to hate on bronies. There are some fans who do try to shove it in people's faces, but they're a minority It's very similar to how anime fans were treated in the mid-90s. Maybe it's where I'm coming from that makes me tolerant of the ponies, and the fanart's interesting to look at. - then again, I'm the sort who believes in keeping any fandoms I have in the closet, wit
http://virtuafighter.com/ I'd recommend this site for folks interested in the game. Really nice and friendly folks. doing MLG today- though with GentlemanThief in town I'm going to get owned so hard on stream if I make it. 2nd Edit- finished one match out of the money, thanks to same GentlemanThief- who is the best US player. His Jean is just playing a different
I wish more levels of magic gave a separate summon- AOW2 had 4 levels of summons per element. Maybe there should be a quest that allows you to make shrills?
Most folks who are Steam only types, will not have heard much of Elemental beyond maybe what they've heard from sites like GAF- which savage you pretty heavily, so Fallen Enchantress may be for the best. I just hope folks give the game a fair shake. As for Random events- what I really want, is random events in the vein of FFH2/ Civ 4. I really felt that was an awesome mechanic that made a great game a classic. I don't have any specific examples
There is a digital version of AE and KOFXIII (KOFXIII is kinda dead due to poor online, worse than AE, but is a very good game) I'm not a big fan of 2d fighters anymore though- KOF's my favorite, but unplayable online, AE is overrated IMO, and Arc games are terrible, except for Battle Fantasia. I've preferred the non-disc format for gaming ever since GalCiv I, and playing KOF98 on emulation and GGPO since it never got a console release for years
Krax would be OP- he could spam 4 pioneers early and get 5 cities while everyone else is on 2.
[quote who="sweatyboatman" reply="17" id="3211043"]Quoting myself from another thread: All these %-when-idle bonuses should be replaced with bonuses dependent on the kind of hero(s) that's governing the city. So wealth and production bonuses require a hero with the Administrator trait to be stationed in the city. Research bonuses require a Researcher. Magic bonuses are generated based on the type of magic skills the heroes stationed there have. Military
