And yeah, good question. So why do Stardock forums allow anonymity?
For older customers (I believe pre-Impulse) , they can see the customer name associated with the account. A big reason I don't use my real name, is because it is very similar with someone more well known, especially during my younger years. I've also received some harassment bef

why isn't the AI better at it? AI should understand border influence and unrest buildings.
If folks aren't griping about W9 that much, and Brad gushes about the under-the-hood stuff like they did with W8, and there aren't a ton of compatbility issues with some of my older stuff, I'll be happy with W9. W7 has some compatibility issues with older stuff- a friend of mine who does dev work has to use XP to work on some older projects.
Quoting abiessener, reply 76 On champ XP sharing -- the problem with having everyone get full XP is that with how limited (easy) XP for heroes is, it becomes the obvious and overbearingly powerful strat to always stack your champs up to maximize the (easy) XP you can farm off
Quoting TheJaker, reply 11 It's a bit sad that more focus isn't put on the general incivility of the Internet. Men can be creeps both in real life and at a bar. The Internet just exasperates that. But the issue is a lot broader than people being abusive of a sex. Anyone
The things that I think need work in the next patch in terms of balance/fun remove champion XP sharing nerf. Champs aren't strong enough to justify this, and item exclusivity makes this more annoying building level-ups need to be revamped certain champion level-ups need to be made viable. esp on assassin tree
The city upgrades need a rebalance/revamp. So many of them are no-brainer decisions that aren't influenced by the situation. I'd also like to see a 1/4 chance of an upgrade that isn't building specific pop up. I also think cities and conclaves should be able to build walls, while towns and conclaves should get unit buffs that make it where building troops in non-fortresses isn't worthless. R
We need a high-end unrest reducing building that can be built in any city with all the nerfs you are doing to unrest. (requiring Alliances or some unused civics tech)
It was super-commercial back in the 90s as well- I mean, Sailor Moon Sausage anyone? I remember the old Arctic fansubs with the commercials intact. The real issue is the economic depression in Japan caused by their decade-long austerity program (you can't budget cut your way out of recession- EOR). This reduced mainstream spending on anime, so that the only folks supporting the industry were hardcore otaku types, and what they wanted was moeblob stuff.</
I wish there was some way to hybrid the new graphics of the game and the new ideas into the old LH 4X model. It just seems that the fantasy game I really wanted from Stardock is now split between two iterations of the franchise.
I think the key is to make attacking the square a starport is in suicidal at the start of the game. A high hp starport with basic weapons would deter an early fleet. Also, I'd make early game warships really maintenance heavy so that having more than 1 or 2 ships out is a real drain on the economy. Techs later on in the game can allow for more ships in the field.
I used to be huge into anime, the stuff they put out today doesn't interest me that much anymore though. I suspect growing up and growing away from my friends earlier in life had an impact as well. I do occasionally get a manga: the one I'm getting right that I enjoy is called a Centaur's Life. The creator is really into biology and world-building, and it shows. I'll also admit I enjoyed Madoka as a guilty pleasure. Liked Ut
The problem with the new class limitations is that most folks only want 1-2 heroes out in the field due to XP splitting, so this is going to make a lot of items unusable. Maybe a better idea would be class-specific utilities/bonuses, like sharp longsword having extra +crit +crit damage for assassins? That way it stays useful for others, but best for assassins. Staves would have init penalty for non-mages , goes away for mages.
I think some of what you're running into then is the simultaneous turns, or the RAM limit slowing things down.
Maybe, and this is a big maybe- combats should only end with the destruction of one side if it gets destroyed in under x rounds? Another option is to give starports intrinsic attack/defense so that it takes a certain amount of fleet to kill the home system one at a minimum
As for why you're finding this Steam Summer Sale disappointing (Referring to to posts above- too long to quote)- I suspect much of it is you've got everything you wanted on your backlog, so it's only newer stuff you're looking at, or things you are going to buy on sale only. Things like AOW3 for half off is pretty damn good given how new it is, or LH for 80% off. That said, I only spent $3.50 or so this far- Papers Please which I'm not feeli
Also, from a business point, in the digital age, staying power matters more than anything. There are forums (rpgcodex being the epitome of this) where clueless gamers talk about how crappy this game or that game is and how this game or that should have the features of some game they want not realizing that they are totally out of touch with what people actually want to play. Hence, I'd rather make a game that *I* li
GOG is probably the most suited of the DRM services to survive a Steam monopoly, because they offer something different. That said, there is a finite limit to their model. As long as it remains profitable, they're in good shape. I'm pretty sure they're making money.
Quoting Lord Reliant, reply 161 Quoting Frogboy, reply 158 I'd love to find a better unrest system for 4x games. Two related ideas: 1. Make expansion technology dependent. You can only maintain X cities until you research something to increase the number by X. 2. Reading about Endless Legend. If you raze a city, it causes the roads to it to disappear after a few turns due to decay
Just saw and bought.
That wouldn't solve anything- people generally don't build units much outside of fortresses.
More ideas: Great Hail- fireball type spell for ice. In a 5*5 spot, you get x number of hits randomly in the grid Boiling Blood- +init to unit, unit takes damage each turn Cloudkill- poison gas cloud, does a good amount of poison damage and can stun enemy (strategic spell perhaps?) Acid Blast- direct damage spell for earth Wither- attempts to put an injury on a champion for the duration of combat (random)
