A rushed game is always rushed, a delayed game is usually forgiven. Plus, we got the preorder beta and you guys aren't needing cash, so I am 100% fine with a 6 month delay.

Yeah, I know they don't fit, but Lord Kona is kinda Stardock's mascot, and they put him in the Political Machine, so why not here? The Snathi are squirrelly, so that's always a good thing to put into a game.
I have to agree, October is the earliest I can see it. I'm not too worried about SD rushing it, as they've proven that if it's broken, they'll fix it. SD has enough goodwill with me that it would take a lot for them to lose it.

The rest of us enjoy being able to play against a difficulty harder than "challenging" without having our CPUs melt into a pile of slag every time we play the game. Even the worst playe
Having MP will help the AI, as Brad will be able to see what other players are doing/exploiting. I trust/expect Stardock to have an AI that can play credibly under the same rules I do, provided I don't exploit.

Actually, I don't believe the claim either - I'd bet most of you will in the end buy Civ V anyway. To me it feels stupid to skip a great came (if it turns out to be one, that is) just because of a move by 2K that is bad from their producer point of view. What I do not understand is 1) Consumers here saying they will skip
On Winner Take All, here's my idea, borrowed from Romance of Three Kingdoms Saturn game. If a battle takes too long, like 30 turns or so, the battle continues, all sides lose morale, and you go back to the strategic map for the rest of the turn, where reinforcements can come in to aid (and those would increase morale) You'll need some catchy music for "the battle rages on" Retreats should be random and chaotic, unless magic is spent to retreat out safely, or you have a

If so--hopefully I can do it at any point during the battle. Also I am assuming there will be a sort of "auto-resolve" choice at the beginning of battles that will calculate the battle result and let you move-on. Please, please, please make the resolution pr

And since the whole point of Civ's longevity is modding it's a very valid concern. You must have missed the part where Counter Strike was a mod of Half Life. Keep trying to pretend Activision's decisions are Valve's fault. Maybe if you actually used Steam you would know there is an entire
The only way the Gamers Bill of Rights matters is if consumers demand them. The only way they'll hear demands is via sales.
Quoting Jam3, reply 367Is Sins, EWOM, or GalCiv available on Steam? There is a little bit of hypocrisy in all this. Brad said once that you would find them on Steam when you could find exclusive Valve games (those like Left 4 Dead or wahtever else they develop themselves) into Impulse.
What about putting them on Gamersgate then?
That is the only logical assumption I can come up with, I believe 2k is gettting some sort of payola to shut Steam's competitors out.
I wonder if the Civ 5= Steam announce had something to do with this. I'm sure that Stardock didn't want the two games released at the same time, but with the Civ forums being in anger over Steam, competing directly might now be a good idea. Great news, I just hope this means the game isn't rushed out too early, but the game has improved over the last few betas, so if that pace continues it could be ready to be a Civ 5 killer if that is what

I've seen those. It's too easy to forget about them though. It's not a very user-friendly system to me.
http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=125721 Valve putting a banhammer on the TF2 mod community for making custom hats. Another reason to be worried about Civ V and modding. D2D has limited activations. They bricked my game after the no-DRM patch came out, of all ironies. I had to work around the problem by getting the .exe file from a friend via AIM.
The Total War series declining rapidly in quality isn't due to Steam- but due to the studio rapidly declining in quality. That said, I do expect Steam to cause the mod community to take a hit, given the nature of Civ mods. (different animal then a Source mod) Valve/2k offering a free Mac version with a Windows purchase is a good thing- and a good idea. However, I'd never use it- I don't care for Macs. As for start games b

Many of the anti-Steamers have said they're willing to pay extra money or lose features to have it not on Steam. That should tell you something.
Tasunke, if you want me to post it, I will.
The important thing about AI is that it has to be fun to play against. The hard part is you need AI that is fun for a wide variety of players. some people like nasty AI, some people like easy AI, and some like RP-ing AI. My big thing is I want an honest, good AI, that will RP some at lower levels, but be ruthless at higher levels. GCII did a good job of this. You need to have room for all three, and this may be t
The only Steam game I know that does support this is Mount and Blade series, and that's only if you download the game directly from them, and use your CD key. Hence, the only non-Valve game I bought from Steam. Paradox games have had a number of problems with Steam also. Impulse seems to work fine with Paradox games.
It's too easy right now to forget when a city has finished building something. Civ 4 did this right, and copying what they did would be sufficient, except when picking the new building, you'd have to place it. We're going to need governors later on potentially as well for troopbuilding, or an autodesigner of units like what GCII had, but I'm guessing that comes later.

One of my curiousities was how you'd make tech trading work. It was the one area in GC2 where I felt there was unique rules for the AI as compared to humans, which annoyed me.
