A random map generator is a necessity of course for a game like this. So why not a random tactical map? You should be able to choose if your reinforcements enter the battle, you might not want them to (in order to avoid movement loss) A quicker force should be able to evade a strong force, at the cost of some movement (this should be randomized with weights for speeds, trying to pursue should cost moves as well) There als

Ubi lost another sale due to this. I was interested in R.U.S.E., but saw the DRM and said no thanks. Stopping release-date cracks will be effective DRM, as most of the losses from DRM is customers who are willing to pay but not wait. They want the game NOW, and if that means pirating, so be it. That's not going to do anything about the majority of pirates, but it will help vs the most costly pirates (the ones that do cost you sales) <br
Hasn't PC gaming been dying for a while? If so, it's the slowest death I've ever seen.
We still have 200 years left to catch up to the Ottoman Empire.
If you do the same thing over and over, eventually your fanbase will get bored with it. You gotta innovate at some point. The key is not to crap on your current base.
Now, Stardock should get credit for being honest and upfront. Also, I understand you guys are a business. I'm not talking about Securom necessarily here, but the truly excessive DRM like AC2/SH5. I think it might be a good business move to not have games like AC2 on Impulse at all. I'd say Impulse game customers tend to fall into 3 categories (not exclusive) a) Stardock fans b) anti-drm zealots c) People who wan
I like this idea. Road expenditure is part of city maintenance costs. Roads begin to be built automatically, sped up by technological development. Soldiers can speed up the process, if told to. Earth magic can also build roads.
On simultaneous moves, I'd like to see a system used I'm assuming no unit will have a move greater then 6 under normal circumstances divide turns into 120 "pulses" People set their moves by the square before hitting turn for each unit moving The units move on the proper pulse. A move 1 unit moves on the 120th pulse, a move 5 unit moves on the 24th, 48th, 72nd, 96th, and 120th If they intersect, th
I'd take my chances with the free market if it there was more market power equality. Part of the role of Government is to correct externalities that develop in free markets- such as pollution, monopolies, and other such things. Even Milton Friedman admits that.
One thing that typically happens with these traits is a few end up just clearly inferior or superior and always chosen. Maybe not by a bunch, but such that the community consensus always ends up with something like "Never choose ugly." However, that leads less variation in actual characteristics used. I'd like to propose the computer randomly assign 1 positive and one negative attribute you're stuck with. You can then spend points on mor
Basically, what I want is to be able to move my map by moving the mouse without clicking on the mouse button I then want to select units by left clicking on them. The way it's done in elemental is somewhat clunky to me.
Civ 4-style selection of units and movement around the map? The way you guys do it for Elemental- where you have to hold the mouse button, to move the map- not really a fan of that. I'd rather have mouse button be used to select units, with a hotkey to cycle between units.
No to workers. Roads should develop naturally over time. Military units should be allowed to speed up the building of roads if needed. It could also be sped up by spending money, or by spell (Earth magic?)
If auto-resolve is "too good" Tactical battles will be as useful as they are fun. I don't see a problem with that. If the tactical battles are fun, people will do them for fun. If they're not fun, I'd rather have the autoresolve be good enough that I don't have to waste time on tactical battles. One important key: make sure no unit/ability is gimped in one mode and all powerful in the other.
I'm actually kinda upset Stardock is even carrying this game. I know that's completely unreasonable, but I just don't like the message that Impulse will accept such draconian DRM.
You can buy off Steam, get the CD-Key, and then download it directly from the developer, entering in the CD-Key to activate manually. That will get you around Steam DRM.
The publicity will come. It's just that things are going slow, which is ok, as I want this to be a masterpiece.
Please have Dire Penguins.
Worst case scenario, they can rush release a bit early, and patch it up later. Stardock's earned trust in that area. That said, I'm patient enough to wait, especially since there's enough other good games out there right now (PC has a huge back catalogue) that I can wait.
People do it in fighting games. SC4 built its rep largely on customization/dolling up female chars.
In case you didn't know, I'm Cari Begle, Stardock's Senior Game Developer, and I'm a woman. I'm not saying that makes me an authority on what all women want in games, but it gives us somewhat of an edge. 1-3 are definitely planned, although we don't yet know if we're going to have time to make female units (other than the sovereigns) before release. As for 4, I don't think that we've considered that. You'll be find
I really think (unsure if this is illegal under anti-trust) Brad needs to talk with Gabe over at Valve and whoever is over at Gamersgate, and you three should come together and publicly suspend Ubisoft from being able to sell games on your services until this is removed. Maybe that will send a message. This is literally a "don't be evil" moment. I will be UPSET if Stardock sells this game using this DRM scheme.
Impulse should make a stand and not carry this game, starting concerns over the DRM affecting customers. It's also $60 for Ass Creed 2 on PC BTW.
It doesn't wwork 100% I still have to go into my old email to find my GC2 DA serial. It's a quirk that won't happen again, so not a big deal.
The 2nd one I just download a crack. Easy to find, and I don't mind. It is a negative to me. Unreasonable activation limits will make me go no sale, as will rootkit DRMs such as Securom. Unsure what DRM's aren't rootkits other then GOO or Steam (I don't like Steam, but I'll tolerate it) , but that hasn't come up for me yet.
I think it was said you could research down multiple paths at once. Tech assimilation shouldn't be guaranteed, and probably should be fairly rare, without plenty of trade, and some level of technological parity or progress.
